SBB, you lost me after, "My understanding is."

Sorry, I was waffling.

TL;DR: no one but you can see which stories you've favourited at the moment, and no one but you can see how many of your stories have been favourited or by whom at the moment. This may or may not change when profiles are changed. There's a counter for favourites on individual stories and they count towards story scores now.

So yes, if you want to recommend other's stories, you need to do it by other means. Favourites now just saves it for you to read again conveniently and gives the story an extra point.

Quote by Buz

I'm a bit lost. This will still not restore all the favorites, readers posted on our stories, or will it show a restored list of them?

My understanding is, the favourites were renamed to "likes" in the move from V1 to V2, and users could go to a list of "liked" stories, so it was the same, but different name. Unfortunately, in the move to the new scoring system recently, it seems that rather than renaming "likes" back to "favourites" and converting scores to "likes", instead all the "likes" (and so also old "favourites") were lumped together with the scores and left as "likes".

Whether or not that means that a favourite and score on the old site has now been converted to simply one score rather than the two it should be is not clear, but I suspect it is the case. The "liked" stories list you get from the instructions above is not the same as the "favourites" - it's a list of every story you've ever voted on or favourited, with no way to differentiate between the two. So I guess I'll just have to go through Tam, Sprite, and Violet's stories and manually re-favourite them then.

Likewise, if you change the instructions slightly and look at likes sent, this would seem to be both votes and favourites added together without differentiation. So no, you can't see who favourited which story anymore, only who favourited AND/OR scored your story (for stories posted before the scoring system change). Unless they decide to dedicate time to untangle it using an older backup of the database, if such a thing exists.

Whether we will see who has favourited our stories going forward is a good question - I have only posted a single poem since recent the change, and one person has added it to their favourites, but I don't see a way to see who.

Late to the party.. but not everyone loved that late Queen Liz

Indeed. Nor does everyone want the new king to be saved.

I went to bed late, so of course I'm paying for it today, but I had such a great time watching Amon Amarth and Machine Head perform last night. Been listening to them since I was a young teen, so it was quite a surreal experience to finally see them so many years later.

That must have been awesome! I'll have to see Amon Amarth live one day. I don't see them coming to Darwin anytime soon though...

Anyway, I've now seen Cannibal Corpse have a tour, and performing next year so probably going to sign myself up for that next 🙄

Morning all (well, probably not for most, but whatever). Not been in for a while. I've been busy with work, family, getting COVID, etc. but also going through about 40 draft stories I've accumulated over the past year or so and getting them ready to publish.

The first went up last week. It's pretty filthy: Swimming Sucks

Another went live a few days ago — a poem about VioletVixen's vagina: The Crimson Bloom

And another is probably the filthiest thing I've written but I'm not submitting that until November.

Now I'll have a coffee.

Last week I polished up a draft I'd had hanging around for a few months and it reduced a Recommended Read. So, for those of you who enjoy the scent of chlorine, verbal degradation, gagging on cock, spit, and big, strong hairy men, I give you:

Swimming Sucks

It is my great pleasure to announce that briacon(Brian)'s wonderful gay male series, Cocklust, has been awarded an Outstanding Series Award!

When I came across chapter 5 last year, I found it so hot I had to start from the beginning, and then eagerly awaited each new installment.

The story follows Scott, a young gay man coming to terms with his sexuality and falling in love via an emotional rollercoaster laced with humour and three-dimensional characters that never goes off track through all thirty-seven chapters. Through it all, sizzling hot sex ranging from the sensual to the visceral drives the plot, yet always feels natural and perfectly timed.

Congratulations, Brian!

Chapter 01 | Chapter 02 | Chapter 03 | Chapter 04 | Chapter 05
Chapter 06 | Chapter 07 | Chapter 08 | Chapter 09 | Chapter 10
Chapter 11 | Chapter 12 | Chapter 13 | Chapter 14 | Chapter 15
Chapter 16 | Chapter 17 | Chapter 18 | Chapter 19 | Chapter 20
Chapter 21 | Chapter 22 | Chapter 23 | Chapter 24 | Chapter 25
Chapter 26 | Chapter 27 | Chapter 28 | Chapter 29 | Chapter 30
Chapter 31 | Chapter 32 | Chapter 33 | Chapter 34 | Chapter 35
Chapter 36 | Chapter 37

Woo! Congratulations, Dronette56, WW, and Quill! Also everyone else in the top ten! I feel behind in my reading so there are four there I've yet to read, but I'll try to do that this week. Looking forward to the next comp!

The competition is closed, but I forgot to post my entry in the Swing Into Summer competition on this thread, so here it is - ice cream, fairies and gay leather bear bikers, and a Black Sabbath reference:

Fairies Wear Boots

Congratulations both of you! It's great having you both on the team. 500? I'm not sure I've done that many in the entire time I've been a mod...

all Australia has choice over both abortion and death

Sadly, this is not quite true: federal law prohibits the territories from legislating on assisted dying, and specifically repealed a law in the NT that allowed it. So currently there is no right to die in the Northern Territory or Australian Capital Territory. That may change with the new government.

If I have 2 couples and they just switch partners, does that count,

I think so, yes, especially if they're also getting some voyeuristic satisfaction from it happening nearby/exhibitionist satisfaction from doing it nearby.

My story currently has lots of sex and not much plot. I've got about 4000 words. I think I'll write at least another 1000 before getting out the machete.

It's dry season here, so we got out the projector I got two Christmases ago but never unboxed and started watching movies on the shed Sunday night.

Quote by JustPassingThrough

Just pondering how the mix of sexes, gender identities, and orientations affects the complexity of multiple partner sex. I mean, is it easier or harder if the orgy is all gay men (or lesbians)? What if it's a mixed crowd and you throw a pansexual gender fluid person into the mix? Oh God, there's probably a mathematical model for this but I am not sure if any mathematician would be horny enough to work out the formula and curve it

Well, I wrote one story that had mixed gender orgy with 666 people, all of them either growing demonic dicks or their existing dicks becoming demonic, where the heroes were a ciswoman and transman (who had not yet had bottom surgery) yet to succumb to the curse. That was somewhat complicated to do in 1000 words.

I've also written an all queer MMF threesome, only really it was a sixsome due to the non-binary tentacle monsters embedded in all three. That was fun.

So, there's more that can happen, which adds flexibility but also makes it harder to keep track of who's doing what or has done what with whom. Even an all-gay male orgy can have that problem because some will be tops, some bottoms, and some versatile. Whether that makes it harder or easier probably depends on the person. I think it's easier as you don't have to worry about über-hetero alpha males getting uncomfortable if another man so much as looks at them.

Unfortunately I don't have any tips for writing it, it just tends to fall out of my head. Extra rereads over and above what you normally do.

Oh, and I have an idea for this comp. All I'll say is, I don't think you'll need your teddy bear for this one, Kimmi. Although I've only just started it, so no promises.

So, who when it comes to Suns versus Hawkes on the 28th? ... 😊

I haven't really followed the AFL this season other than Geelong's games, but I've never forgiven the Hawks for beating the Cats in 2008 and have a soft spot for the Suns after Gary Ablett Jr's stint there, so I'd go for the Suns.

SBB that pic will do great

Thought it might. If you need a Google images search term, it's "Tom Hawkins" AKA The Tomahawk.

Other things that make Aussie Rules great beyond the short shorts and little Tommy there: the variety of action required means the players have a toned body all over rather than over emphasis on say, the neck like rugby players; there are 18 players per team on the field at once and they're all of similar physique; there's lots of homoerotic wrestling but space on the field to admire it; it's highly entertaining even when you've got no idea what's going on. They're in the process of professionalising the women's competition, too, and are making an effort to make it LGBTQ+ friendly.

(Sorry haven't figured out how to do multiple quote things )

You put you cursor where you want the quote to go, scroll up to the post you want to quote (you can use the page navigation buttons if it's a previous page without losing what you've written), select what you want to quote (of it's not the whole post, and click the Quote button at the bottom of that particular post. The dev have recently made it so it only quotes the latest post if that post quoted another so you don't end up with a mess of quotes of quotes of quotes. Give it's go - it's quite intuitive once you're used to it.

As the person who started this ruckus

I'm pretty sure it's the five dickwads in the Supreme Court who get to take credit for that. Whether you had said something or not, a lot of people would have been angry and hurt and want somewhere to vent. Since this is where many started their social interactions on Lush even if they drift away for whatever reason, it is natural to come here and have a bit of a scream.

I would also venture to say that the abortion discussion actually started with semantics and personal attacks

Not to get into a he-said-she-said argument, but I count about ten posts regarding the issue before James apologised for bringing up politics, and another three after, all about the issue with no personal attacks plus some relevant music videos before Sara made her post which contained this line:

Quote by Denim_Daisy10
Bar +politics = not a happy drinking place .

When people are hurting and raw, that, whether intentionally or not, comes across as a passive-aggressive "shut up". Whether the response was proportional or not is another matter, but the discussion certainly didn't start with personal attacks (well, other than the personal attack on women's right to their bodies).

Where were you when you heard a new type of music (to you) such as Blues, Jazz, R+B, Rock or Country. And yes there many more musical genres I didn't list here.

Good topic, I shall give this some thought.

I'll be accepting applications for hot guy pics for Nikki over there ..

Will this do?

There are many reasons Aussie Rules is the only sport I follow, and short shorts is one of them...

I am posting this, the lyrics to Bob Dylan's song Hurricane.

Probably one of my favourite Dylan songs (and I'm not anti-Dylan by any means), thanks Carl. I think it's testimony to his influence down the generations that this artist, whose musical influences are clearly UK garage and 80s anarcho-punk, and has a more, er, direct style of delivery, chose to adopt a punkified version of his name in the tradition of Johnny Rotten, Steve Ignorant, Poly Styrene, etc.

If I'd been on duty I'd have respectfully suggested the matter being debated move to the Think Tank where all involved can more easily follow the discussion.

If you read back through, you'll see it is for the most part not debate or an attempt to open a debate. It is venting of frustration over an even that will affect many many people, including people here. The only real argument came from people saying the topic should not be raised at all, and then the natural pushback against that, just as there would naturally pushback if annoying seriously suggested that pictures of donuts shouldn't be posted here. No one is demanding anyone else to engage in a discussion of it.

If I went to a pub and any one who raised a controversial topic was asked to leave, I would not be going back to said pub. I would generally gravitate to a table with such discussions, and drift away from those of sport, but I wouldn't demand people discussing rugby bugger off to a sports bar, no matter how much a hate that stupid game. And yes, if the discussion was getting more detailed then yes, I would probably want to move to a backroom or somewhere without the other noise, but for a general "have you heard this ridiculous decision? It's totally fucked!" venting, the main part of a pub should be fine. The vast majority of all political meetings I've gone to have been in pubs. In fact, the one time I was arrested for political activity was in a pub (I sued the police and got an apology and compensation).

Being on a sex site I enjoy nudity as much as the next person, but I don't= think anyone wants to see my dick pic posted in this forum.

Anyone of any gender is welcome to flash their nipples anywhere on Lush. In most bars, I'd say nipple flashes are a cause of amusement rather than offence. Genitalia is an entirely different issue, hence why in countries such as France it is fine to bathe topless, but you have to go to a dedicated nudist beach to expose your bottom half. So the two are not comparable.

Anyway, I can't mention Poly Styrene without sharing one of the greatest punk songs of all time (for the record, I believe the band stated several times that "bondage" is a reference to social bondage and not about the sexual practice):

walks past bar and hears voices raised in passionate debate

Oh good, a bar where people can actually let off steam and speak their minds! Not like that bland, gentrified dump down the road where everyone pretends everything is okay when it's clearly not.

Only it's not, is it, it's a single thread on a forum, so if what someone says rubs you the wrong way you can scroll quickly past and stick your head in the sand, I mean donuts.

People should be angry, this crap could easily set off a rolling snowball of reaction not just in the US but elsewhere, because for reasons I don't understand, the political elite in much of the world still looks to the US for leadership. Better angry than in despair.

Anyway, here are some donuts:

And some music:

I didn't know "sploshing" was an official thing!

I'm always surprised by how niche WAM is - "naked in custard" or similar was probably the first thing I actively sought out once I realised a search for porn could involve more than just the word "porn". There was even a magazine in the UK called "Splosh!" so I thought it was up there with feet, stockings, and uniforms, etc. as a common fetish, but apparently not.

Anyway, I nominated Violet for Rising Star, Best Seasonal Scene (both her Christmas scenes are awesome, but the one with yoghurt and BBQ sauce is something else), Best Scene Title (how can "Fake Cum Drenched and Fucking Myself to My Filthy Fantasy" not win? And that's just the title, it's worth visiting her store to read the description for that one alone - https://violet-vixen-amateur-cuntography.umd.net/download_info/fake-cum-drenched-and-fucking-myself-to), and Best Reaction in a scene for the way she revels in mess after covering herself in beans and noodles and BBQ sauce and egg, oh, and ramming leeks in all holes. Can't forget that.

There is also a setting - if you go to the list of all your messages and click on the three dots at the top, it takes you to the settings page, and there's one to turn "Send on enter" on or off. It's per device, so if you use your phone as well as your computer, you'll need to set it on both.

I think it's like that because the primary purpose is for instant messaging (like the old black box) so send on enter makes more sense for that as you don't have to touch your mouse to send, but the other setting is there for those of us who send longer messages.

Congratulations to the winners and the rest of the top ten! Wait, what's my name doing there? Especially great to see some new names in there - my memory is terrible but I know that at least toniscales' entry was her first in any Lush competition, so to get in the top ten is a great achievement! And there's at least one there I haven't read so shall do that ASAP.

Ooh yes! Congratulations! Definitely well deserved. It's great having you on the team, Harley!

I just tested with an old old one I didn't care about one way or the other and can confirm that just clicking edit on your story and then clicking "Save To Draft" will hide it and preserve all your comments and stats etc. Then if/when you want it visible again, just add a note to mods that you had it hidden for whatever reason and haven't changed anything, and once we reapprove it will come back as if it had never been away.

My entry in the Spring Forward competition takes its name from a song by the Kings of Leon. It is set in the witch-hunting panic of mid-17th century England, but don't expect historical accuracy. Do expect literally scorching femme-on-femme sex:

Sex On Fire

I noticed this on one of mine the other day - I accidentally hit enter, adding a linebreak, then deleted it, resulting in that weird effect. Don't know if that's the only thing that causes it, but definitely what did in that case.

To fix it I just highlighted, cut, and pasted again directly in the comment edit box. However, I can't remember if the paste I used was the one that appeared by my cursor (which preserves formatting) or the one of the Google keyboard (which posts as plain text).

It is actually possible to add a live link to your profile page in your main free text section - they only way I've managed to do it though is to make the link in a forum post (without submitting it) and then copying it from there into the profile editor. Doing it directly in the profile editor doesn't work for some reason.

Still not as nice as having it in the dedicated ebooks section of course.

Thanks everyone! I had some great mentors. It's been a fun year, much more fun than my actual job. And thanks for the prize, I shall be sure to spend it on butt pl— er, I mean, something very high brow.

I've put in the support ticket. Developers are on UK office hours though, so could be a little while before they even see it.

I think it's reasonable for those whose stories have dropped off to drop a link in the thread for the competition while we wait - I'm afraid I, like many, have turned off seeing forum signatures because it makes my screen too busy. I've read both of yours already and they were great.

no, Krystal's right - I think something's broken again. It's only showing the most recent 15, the earlier ones are missing. This was how it was when we first migrated and they fixed it. I'll put in a support ticket.
