I've lived this long without it I think I can live the rest of my life without it, too. Besides there are so many things that give me pleasure without delving into BDSM, why bother getting into an alternative lifestyle at this late date??? There are way too many unanswered questions to really give any advice. How long have they been together? Does the girl have any interest in marrying him? Does she suspect he cheats? Do they live together or at least live on their own, away from parents? Is the guy being honest or just looking for extracurricular sex? What is the age of the parties? Is the girl physically uninterested in sex or is it a moral/religious/right-wrong issue? Is the guy physically fit and attractive?
I've personally met guys who had great sex lives with their girlfriend but used the 'I don't get enough sex' or 'she doesn't like sex' arguments to cheat. Maybe he just isn't any good at sex (a sexual brute, inconsiderate, inadequate, doesn't provide foreplay or do anything to make her want it, into things she doesn't like/desire, never brings her off, a 'wham, bam, thankyou ma'am' kind of lover uninterested in her satisfaction or comfort, poor hygiene, obesity or he simply doesn't turn her on)
If she has no physical desire for sex (and has it always been that way?), and she is 'younger' she may grow to like it more as she gets older. If she is mid-20's or older and the guy is being honest (I doubt he is) I would guess it's time to move on. The fact he's reached a point where he is interested in marriage but still making this complaint just doesn't add up. If the complaints are true, what's made him stick around this long?
I just found this thread and feel it should be a 'featured thread'! Not knowing of it's existence, I've written PM's on several occasions to moderators/verifiers who either acted much quicker than I expected, or left a comment on a story after it was published (When I actually should have personally thanked every moderator whenever they approved a story of mine. I've been here almost 2 years now, and one of my very first stories I ever submitted, the moderator actually went to the trouble of re-formatting the dialogue in my story. (had a story, but no idea how to write or format it). Being unaware of the 'protocol' on Lush, I erred by not thanking that moderator (for all I knew it was done by a program - but I know better now).
A sincere thank you to all the volunteers who take time out of their lives to make LushStories the great site it is. I'm so glad I found Lush and I've met some great friends and had a lot of fun! A special thanks to Nicola and Gav for all their hard work (and putting up with all of us!)
I'd like to think I'm one of the straightest men on Lush. I don't care what anyone else's preferences are, and I don't know if 'experimenting with a 'she-male' would give a man the 'gay' label, but one thing is for sure, he can't call himself straight any longer!
If a story holds my interest from the opening through the end, It will generally earn a 4 or a 5. An occasional typo doesn't detract from the score - a plethora of them will. The same for grammatical or punctuation errors. If before I reach the end of the story I decide it will garner a 3 or less, I typically don't finish it or leave a score.
Unless in support of a friend, I also avoid genres or categories that either offend me or I don't get. Except from those 'friends', I don't feel it's fair to score on a story in a category I avoid.
I pay more attention to the comments than the scores. While it's nice to be on the 'leader board', my cynical side believes that there are instances where low scores are given not so much because the 'scorer' believes that's what the effort deserves, but to intentionally drive the average score on a piece down (to allow others to rise to the top?) or because they personally disagree with the lifestyle the category suggests. 3 ways to fix that -
1. No anonymous scoring (if an author clicks on the bar graph, it could link to a page where the voters of each 'score' is listed (these people gave this story/poem a five, these people gave this story/poem a 4, etc.) When people realize they are accountable for the score they give, they will be discouraged from voting based on anything besides the quality of the story itself. (my best choice for fix)
2. allow anyone to comment (under their name, as they do now) but only give scoring privilege to truly unbiased, select members based on spelling, grammar, readability and the appeal of the plot or story line.
3. Increase the 'range' of the scoring system, insist on the rationale for any scores other than a 5 be listed, or have a multi-tier scoring system 'spelling/grammar' 1-5 (or 1-10?), 'plot/story' 1-5 (or 1-10?), readability ...
Without some kind of accountability for voting, it becomes a popularity contest, and the votes become meaningless. Why do you think so many crappy singers end up winning shows like American Idol, the X-Factor, etc.? NO VOTER ACCOUNTABILITY!
I realize the best bet is to simply disable scoring on my stories if this really bothers me (like several of my friends have done), but overall, the scoring doesn't hold all that much significance to anyone other than those seeking validation of their efforts. I'm assuming that anonymous votes don't decide the winners in competitions? That competitions are judged by an 'editorial board'?

1. Since at least half the avatars and profiles aren't real or accurate, how can anyone really be sure??
2. What sense does it make to say something like they're all on my friends list, then post anonymously??
3. Why did so many people post so many different answers under their own profile in multiple posts??
