I am so surprised this hasn't happened sooner.
This season is very dark, but I thought Season 1 was pretty dark, as well.

I often feel a bit lost during the episodes .... so I watch it a second time later in the week, and I seem to catch more. More Questions than Answers, though.

Vince Vaughan is outstanding .... I can't fucking stand his character.

Colin Farrell's Velcoro is so broken.

Then Rachel McAdam's character, Ani ..... that's gonna be a deep reveal, I think .... if they even do much revealing.is

I believe the acting is fabulous.

Fans of the well-loved comic strip Bloom County are celebrating, after cartoonist Berkeley Breathed issued the first panels of his satirical strip in decades.

Breathed won a Pulitzer Prize for his work on Bloom County back in 1987; two years later, he quit producing it. On Sunday, he posted a photo of himself to Facebook in which he sat in front of a computer screen with an empty cartoon template titled Bloom County 2015.

"A return after 25 years. Feels like going home," he wrote.

Opus and Bill the Cat along with Milo, Steve Dallas, John Cutter, Michael Binkley and a few others .... the eclectic gang who reflect society in so many ways.

Woohooo!

Sometimes at the deli in my office building, I see people ordering lox and cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. The thought makes me a little ill.

I agree .... and a few of these fav unlikely combos make me kinda gag .... Like LadyM's sardines and ice cream.

Though, there are a few that "unlikely" in a traditional sense, but depending where one lives, it may be more "normal". What I love about being a foodie and loving to cook, is that sometimes you try a combo that truly is dynamite and that's the pleasures of food .... something you remember for a long time.

More and more chefs and pastry chefs are combining salty with sweet, sour with hot and cold with heat. I love that!!

Young Empires is a Canadian rock band formed in Toronto in October, 2009.

Their music blends elements of alternative dance, electro, and indie rock. Worldbeat refers to the African and Latin American percussion used in their tracks. Young Empires’ sound has been compared to the likes of The Killers, Arcade Fire, Cut Copy, Friendly Fires, and Foals.

Young Empires' music has evolved alongside a more ambitious project. A whole brand has emerged from these Canadian entrepreneurs called The House of Young Empires. The House embraces clothing, remixes, videos, and web design. In collaboration with a Toronto-based fashion line, Handsome Clothing, Young Empires has launched a collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts.

The fashion industry embraced them with open arms by featuring Young Empires on the Parisian music label Kitsuné Maison 10, Nylon TV fashion video and in Dazed & Confused.

Here in Vancouver (where the final game for the Cup is) .... we are packing in (capacity for BC Place stadium is 54,320) the stadium and the pubs and social houses have the game ready to show. Get your caesars and beer ready!!

It's really exciting to see so many people interested in women's sports .... the games have been awesome!! Tenacious. Hearts left on the pitch. All Inspiring!!

I'm cheering for my neighbour ..... Go USA Go!

Regardless the final score, this is going to be one intense and riveting game!!

Cheers!

I don't know if this has been said before?

The quoting in the forums, it enables you to be able to change what the person you are quoting has said.

As much as this can sometimes be funny if done in jest it can also not be funny if done in a malicious manner. So I think tbh it would be better if people couldn't change the wording of the person they are quoting to reply to them.

Also no offence but maybe a little more mod activity in the forum games might be good too as those have sucked lately and still are.

No! Don't change this bolded part!! I for one, love to use the quote button (as it notifies that quoted member that I've responded to it) because I often (for long winded members like SereneProdigy or Dancing_Doll replies) cut down on that quote to the part I want to address. Why quote the WHOLE thing?

Some people edits their post(s) for various reasons (spelling, drunk posting, oh-my-god Imma gonna be suspended for that one) .... and they should be able to edit it. If someone has fiddled with it afterwards as a quote, you can easily go back and see what was posted. Often when I see an edited post after someone has quoted it, it means the originator must have thought twice about their post or fixed it after being called out.

Leave the able to fix/edit quotes in the forums .... please. No need to fix something that is not broke except in the eyes of a few people.

PS .... the red point noted above .... really??? it's games. the mods have PLENTY of other things to monitor besides games. we are adults. if you are being offended by someone anywhere .... take a break. you will find dicks (no pun intended) everywhere. some people have no sense of humour, and some are just plain weird.
it's so fucking hot here (unusual for the West Coast) .... I'd love a moment like this .... ok .... an hour, please!!

As someone who has entered many of the comps... I have NEVER felt my competition was trying to sabotage me with a crap score. In turn, if I read a story from my competition, I try to score fairly. I would never even consider sabotaging a fellow writer. I've read some and said to myself, "Well... my writers ass has just been handed to me."

I may not always agree with the judges choices for winners or the top 10... but I'm sure that's true with a lot of people. It just makes me want to try harder next time.

I trust Nicola & her team of judges to be fair and just because I don't agree with their choices... doesn't mean I think they are being unfair. It just means we have a difference of opinion. I can't imagine how hard it is for these folks to pick the winner and the top 10. I do know they work hard and are damn under-appreciated.

for sure .... I know myself, I would not sabotage another writer, ever! But, my question/observation/comment was raised because a writer in the comp had a very low score noted without a comment ........ and that down-scorer is also in the comp.

as many have said before (and will likely reiterate again and again in the future) this is an adult-site and sometimes it would be nice if some would conduct themselves as an adult.

I was happy that Jack and Nic explained things .... and I learned something about how that process works to level the playing field.

Cheers!

If they shoot Ani next episode I'm gonna be pissed.

I hope they don't make this like American idol and someone gets axed each week. lol

I was disappointed in the last episode. It had some real good parts, but I was hoping for more. Of course next episode might be awesome.

They better not shoot Ani! Or I'm gonna be pissed too!!
I was fucking shocked at that last scene!

I was not prepared for Velcoro to be shot, and in such a brutal cold way. Did Semyon set this up??

(conspiracy theories abound!)

I don't know about the episode being a dud .... the layers of TD are many and with Season 1, there were times I wanted it to hurry up .... so I've learned a little patience.

But still .... Velcoro taking the bullets was a shocker to me.

The score doesn't matter in the competitions. When I have made it in the top three I have never even been close to having the highest score. In fact, I had some of the lowest scores. I believe the judges vote on what they believe the best story is and not what story has a perfect 5.

Thanks Jack .... as I've never made it anywhere close, I had no idea.

and Nic confirmed your assumption:

They are ignored. Friend score spam (and their voting down of other's stories) is also weeded out as best as we can.

It's part of the reason it takes over a week, for the winners to be decided (plus the entries need to be read!).

The average score a story receives, is only one of several factors which decide who the winners ultimately are. We are not like some sites who lazily give the prizes to the stories with the highest scores. That's too easily manipulated.

I am yet to receive a reasonable complaint about the winners of any of our competitions, run over the last 8 years, so I think the effort we make is appreciated

As you know, Nic .... this site is the best .... and we have some amazing fabulous original writers here that we get to celebrate with these contests and honours.

Thanks both of you for your input. Much appreciated!

Regarding the comps ....

It was something that was on my mind a while ago and then, popped up again in chatting with another writer.

During the comp timeline (the 6 weeks or whatever it runs), could it be that other comp writers NOT be allowed to vote on another comp's entry?

Why I ask this is because, while competition is a good thing, it can bring out the poorest qualities in some, such as down-voting.

I thought about those that enter the comp later, and have already scored other writers' stories. Do/could those scores be mitigated (or voided) until AFTER the comp?

(or maybe this already happens and is taken into consideration??)

Anywho .... just a thought.
