That IS a nice gesture. I gotta re-up soon, I think.
Kee, I only just recently stumbled onto you and your writing, but I am glad I did. Happy birthday!

Hello Everyone, it sounds like there have been ups and downs for everyone.

I hope it's all positive from now on.

I'm just happy to be in my own bed tonight or will be soon. Love my parents but too much togetherness was getting difficult. But my dad is doing well enough with his new pacemaker and knee that my mom can handle things at night for now. I am just a phone call away. I hope my bed recognizes me.

I'll take a Hannah with a cocktail umbrella if possible. Planning on doing some baking tomorrow since we are expecting a combination of rain, sleet and snow starting tomorrow and into Wednesday. First thing on the agenda, Lemon Meringue Pie (my dad's favorite). If he is eating he can't be pestering my poor mom. Then an apple pie and some blueberry muffins. I will have plenty of pies and muffins to share.

Cheers Everyone!

That is so good to hear, Gill. You work so hard for everyone else, it is nice you get to sleep in your own bed. After you make everyone their own treats perhaps you can do something for yourself. Hot bath? Bake YOUR favorite pie? Go buy thousands of cocktail umbrellas and string them up on Christmas lights?

I'll have a furball, rump. 4 fingers of gin and a splash of bitters. It should taste like betrayal.

So happy to have a drink named after me (or after sprite's non de plume (that's French for "not having a plume") for me, Furball) . Make sure and use lots of bitters. Why? Because it is bitter, and because it is my drink (apologies to Stephen Crane).

Tonya, I hear ya. Parenthood is an unending roller coaster. If it doesn't break your heart you are doing it wrong.

Köffee please.

Milik, you and I are now in a dead heat for the dubious title of 'one who married above themselves the most'. (probably need to work on that title a bit.)

I am probably (soon) in the running for that title as well.

Tired and cranky and worried. Köffee please, Bill. Hope you enjoyed your birthday.
I suspect I am one of the few exceptions here. I get bored by backstory and character motivation and long, linear build-ups. Don't necessarily jump into the sex, but jump into something, whether it's action or dialogue or plot (or sex). Jump into them moment and let the reader figure it out.

I don't really care that before fucking, they had dinner in a nice restaurant and then romantically walked the streets of Paris at sunset.

Posted another Seattle Mix Tape, if anyone's into reading - flash, so it's short. btw, for anyone curious, and since it seems right to give credit, i started writing the psychedelic pussycat dreams after reading Furball's Shard series, cause really, it's brilliant, and i like stealing great ideas - what's the point of stealing crap ones, really? anyways, the Seattle Mix Tapes are more of the same - difference is, the PPDs are fictional, and these are... errr... not, nor are they memories... yeah... *shuffles feet* more like recent experiences... anyways, hopefully that piques interest and also gives Hannah more reasons to embarrass me than usual... ok, not going to be able to show my face in here again, so it was nice knowing ya'll.

happy sunday, and i'll have a Strawberry Daqueery, please. smile

Thanks for the props, kitty ears. :).

I didn't know you were embarrassable.

Good morning loves. Bertha is up a churning with some fresh coffee to help with the party crowd. There is hot water for tea and hot chocolate. I'm alaiaking Mimosas for a Sunday morning start. Here's some donuts and muffins as well as some home-made Belgium waffles. There's fruit, whip cream, Canadian maple syrup for your liking. Also ?, Canadian bacon, sausages, and scrapple. Please help yourself and have a great Sunday.

Man, what an excellent bartender! Breakfast AND mimosas. I am chowing down! Thanks, Tonya!

MM - looking forward to you concluding the Blondie series. I really enjoy those stories. Anyone who likes James Ellroy (or simply good writing) should check out Martigan's Blondie stories.
I left a heartfelt message for you over on your birthday thread, Bill. I hope you have an excellent one. All of your drinks, from now until the end of the Trump administration, are on me. So here's hoping for impeachment, so I don't go broke.

My shift is over, but my dance card tonight is filled this evening. Date night. smile Enjoy your Friday, all.
Happy birthday. in addition to being a great friend and a great bartender, you are a great editor. You have improved so many of my stories with a simple thoughtful private message. You read witth a generous and caring eye. I hope you have an excellent day, friend.

I don't want to see that fish fucking movie, The Shape of Water. But I'm being drawn in to see what
all the fuss is about. IDK. I think we have better creature sex stuff here AKA Verbal's last comp win.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/monster-sex/beneath.aspx

I think I'll watch Lady Bird next. I hope it's not an avian fucking flick. The fishy love story can wait...

Thanks Ping! Though weirdly the movie I most want to see is The Shape of Water. I frikkin LOVE del Toro, even his bad movies. I never get to see movies made for grown-ups until like 3 years later, on TV.

I also really wanna see mother! even though everybody in the entire world hated it. I am trying very hard not to read spoilers of either movie.

Of course there's the occasional dickweasel, but in general I really enjoy our little community.

I hereby declare dickweasel the word of the day.

Read, write, say hi to friends, mess around on the Forum, learn about the endlessly fascinating variations of human sexuality.
St. Patrick's Day in my NYC days was CRAAAAAAAZY. People peeing in the streets, puking in public restrooms.
You'd walk into a bar late at night and the bartenders looked like shell-shocked war veterans (though I bet they made a lot of tips).

It's been pretty chill everywhere else I've lived.

I like Jamesons lots, but it doesn't compare to the heady Listerine and compost afternotes of a fine bottle of Safeway Select 12 Day Aged Burrbin. Throw a shoot of that into my köffee today if you will, good man.

And an early happy birthday to our bartender, fearless leader, provider of bad jokes and liquor, and caretaker of the blue site, Bill, our humble barkeep. Cheers! Have a shot on me.
I think in the heat of a moment of heated sex or roleplay a lot of woman would be aroused by the scenarios you describe. It's not simply acquiescing to male domination, but an active exploration of their own fantasies. Certainly not all woman. But enough so that it's not unrealistic.

PICK ME PICK ME!!! (she screams internally, whilst standing nonchalantly in the corner sipping a midnight lemonade)

My poem is driving me insane. I have become so extra lately.

Put on your dancin' shoes, Ms. K. My youngest daughter accuses me of being "extra" ALL! THE! TIME! You two have the same slang vocabulary, I swear. It's eerie.

Well, I finished OITNB. Looking forward to Season 6. Really don't know where this is going.

Speaking of which... just finished Stranger Things. While I have free Netflix, I'm gorging.

It had such a mix of 80's stuff, ET to Poltergeist to any teen slasher flick and even early X-Files from the 90's.
Even the Police Chief's truck was circa Jaws from 1977. It felt too cliche. But that was part of it's charm. The
music was Tronish.

However, I won't admit this, but I had to watch many parts of the show through my fingers. Tough guy,
I know. I've seen that thing before too. Maybe just in my dreams. I'll start
season 2 shortly, then onto Sense8.

Green Beer? Is it ready yet? Don't make me get one of those Shamrock Shakes.

Little known fact: McDonalds adopted that milkshake name after corporate took a golfing trip to Ireland and saw some
locals coming down from their fast food high.

ALL the DNA in Stranger Things is 80s - I love that they were so shameless in their borrowing. I think there's a little Lovecraft in there too.

I was charmed by the first 2-3 seasons of OOITNB, but then I grew tired of it. Partly because Piper's character became SO unlikeable. Partly because of that hot Australian chick that everybody fell in love with - not believable at all, the character, her looks or her acting. I thought it was stunt casting.

Watch The End of the F*****g World on Netflix. It goes by fast - 8 22 minute episodes. Brilliant.

*licks my finger, sticks it in your ear*

I sure hope that's a finger I feel in my ear. smile

Bill, Sara is having a bone spur removed tomorrow.

Last call, ladies and germs - my shift is up. Who wants to dance?

Surely all lesbians are disfunctional women

Dude. Seriously.

And dysfunctional is spelled with a y (as Liz helpfully just demonstrated).
Sorry I did not show up for my 5-5:15 shift yesterday, boss. Am I fired?

Writing an actual short story is showing me how lazy I got writing all that flash. Nice to use some different writing muscles this time out. Now if I can just get the plot to find some traction, I will be rolling.

Köffee please.

End of day whiskey time. Some bourbon would go down well. Two fingers on the rocks.

Story finished. I'm into the "tinkering until I am bored with it" phase of writing. Probably post in the morning. I think I am happy with this draft but want to let it gestate just in case. It's incredible how much time I'm putting in on <2000 words and most of it is just, "no, this word should go here and this sentence should be worded this way and ... " yeah. As I said, tinkering until I'm bored with it. The basic story has actually been done since Friday.

I don't see it yet. Last forum mention for me is from yesterday and that one doesn't show the thread yet.

I just clicked my timeline link to get here!

Maybe sign in and out while in the Forums? It's working for me.
THANK YOU GAV! for fixing this ? bug! Showing and linking Forum posts from the friends activity feed was my main way to look around the Forums. Glad it's back!
Tonya, sounds like the last week or so has been eating you up (and not in the good way). Hope things calm soon.

Bill, I watched returns for hours last night, then gave up when the vote was stuck at 98% reporting, assuming I'd find out a winner the next day. No such luck, though I think that making that deeply red district competitive is already a bit of a victory.

I'll miss Mr. Hawking. Our generation's Einstein. I showed my kids videos of him from when they were quite young - they do a pretty good impression (not in a mean way).

Yeah, Jen, my kids are walking out today too. Guns have been a topic at the dinner table lately. My views have evolved in the last year. I'm still pretty pro-2nd amendment (ALL amendments), but I am much more open to tighter restrictions than I used to be. I shot a semi-auto once, it was fun. But putting weapons of war in the hands of citizens so they can have "fun" is a bridge I am no longer willing to cross.

Tired today. This working two jobs (my regular 9-5 job, followed by my strenuous 5-5:15 shift here at Rumps) is killing me. Köffee please.

Woo hoo! Beers please V? Can I be first on your dance card, after Hannah, natch.

Sara, yoga was ouchy! Hope you're okay?

Hannah is a no show, Curvy. Here's your beer. Let's cut us a rug!
Remember my 15 minute happy hour shift begins in a half an hour! All the beer-like and liquor-esgue substances you can drink in 15 minutes for free!

Also available for dancing after my shift, at 5:15!
Bill, since you are making an attempt at organizing an unorganizable group here, I'll volunteer for the 5-5:15 shift, when all those happy hours drink orders come pouring in.

Wait, is there even a happy hour here?

Enjoyed cutting the rug with you yesterday, Hannah. Sorry for your woes, Gill and Tonya. And for your tooth, Larry.

Köffee. Off to teach (remotely) how to use LucidPress this morning. Gotta be sharp. Or if I can't be sharp, at least heavily caffeinated.
