It's gonna normalize working from home, which is a good thing.

It also serves as a reminder that politics is not just empty rhetoric and a "who's winning?" mindset, but a matter of literal life and death in the case of Covid-19 and other crises that can occur during a Presidency.
HUGS

Yikes TG! That does not sound like a fun way to start the day.

Hope everyone is doing well.

So I was looking into how much health care would cost if I took early retirement, and stupidly put my phone number into a form to find health care and got 15 phone calls in 20 minutes. Yikes! Anyone out there have experience with private health plans? Any advice on how to start the search would be welcome.

Not much else going on. Mets lost AGAIN.

Coffee!!!

I LOVE mowing the lawn.

Cleaning the cat boxes.

Sorry for the crappy morning, TG. Was it plagiarism (man that's a hard word to spell!) that made the day start so poorly? I saw your post in the Rage Cage.

The Mets got SPANKED last night by Gill's Nats, 16-4, leaving us in last place. sad

I did, however, get good news about the MLC (Major Life Change). So, I'll quit being cagey: because of the dire straits of the state budget due to the rona, the university is offering me early retirement at the end of the year. And I am am considering taking it and trying to make it as a full time writer. I have enough in retirement savings to life in a modest manner, so I won't starve if my stories don't sell. LJ is excited, my kids are excited. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still mulling it over.

Chris, Curvy comes by EVERY DAY to set up, and has for years. We are not worthy! Write that monster sex story! A blind date where a tentacle slips out from the leg of the man's trousers, while the girl watches with horror and increasing desire, and the waitress grows curious from afar.

Coffee!
LJ tried CBD for neck pain and it did nothing that a regular salve didn't do. Ibuprophen was much more effective.

I do have a friend who swears by it though (and the one who suggested LJ try it).

I paid to have my pic in the stands at the Braves games. Ugh! Damn! I need to attend some live sports. This Covid pandemic sucks big. And it's worse than ever npw.

Ha! That's TOO COOL! I was really tempted to get one for Mets games. Can you see your pic during games? Do thery send you a pic of your cut-out?

Slow-waking Monday morning. Trying to get my head into work.

Still fucking with this damn story, trying to get it just right. 5 days left til their deadline. Grrr.

Mets won the last two games! I wonder how teams are doing at home this weird season. Is there less of a home team advantage with no fans? Is there more of a home field advantage because travelling will be such an ordeal?

Great contest idea. Thanks for alerting us Bill.

V-Nessa, since the erotica is already done, I'd publish it first. Then write the new book, and publish that, and use what you learned from the first publish. If my Shards thread is still around I talked a lot about the process of publishing on Amazon: keywords, category, formatting, stuff like that.

Anyway. Coffee would rock.

hi peeps
A large sweet tea with extra ice.
Those that have seen my blog on my wall know I'm dealing with
The heartbreaking loss of my dear sweet angel Mother.
We lost her at 2:30am EST she was in so much pain with so many health problems . Her heart just finally gave out. The ER doctor and nurses last night were rockstars . One of the sweet nurses gave up her break to stay with my mom until my sister could get out to the hostipal. He tried so hard to save her and he personally made the call to notify my sister of my mom's passing.
I know she is no longer in pain and is at peace so that brings me comfort. I'll be back to normal soon.
Being here among friends helps more than I can express.
Hug your loved close and don't be ever be afraid to overuse I LOVE YOU!
STAY SAFE

HUGS Sara.

I am glad the doctors and nurses were rockstars. They often are.

Tend to your memories of her. That's what I've been doing with my Dad. I swear I have entire conversations with him in my head during baseball games this year. It's a nice way to feel close.

*Snaps on a latex glove* Two fingers of what now? evil4!

Whatcha got? smile I'm easy.

Busy workday, finally slowing now.

Debating the urge to hit that Submit button (no, not that kind of submit) and be done with this damned story. I have 9 more days. I also have a problem with messing with a story SO MUCH I end up ruining it.

Going into a sleep clinic tonight, which I do not want to do at all. They want to make sure my sleep patterns aren't affecting my a-fib (which is GONE, btw). Grrr. I won't sleep much at all, meaning I will be crabby all day tomorrow.

Sigh. Sweet tea, please.

i thought you were going to say 'into outer space' for a moment smile

It's not dissimilar. :)

Her baby is a zombie. smile Well, zombie-like, anyway.

Two fingers, please.
Launched one of my teenaged daughters into independent adulthood.
Happens to me nearly every time.

Something I just stumbled upon: if I proofread a story backward, one paragraph at a time--the last paragraph, then the one before that, then the one before that--I can see the story with fresher eyes, and catch errors and come up with solutions I might not otherwise see.

hi peeps
A beautiful day here
A large sweet tea sounds fantastic
Not much going on here just working on a story for the gnu place
Been asked a couple of times to but my children stories in book form.
Other than that a pretty chill day.
Good to see everyone here.
Hope everyone is staying safe and sound

Write that book too! The Continuing Adventures of Scamp!

Sweet tea, please, and one for Sara (I used your name in the current story, btw).

So a writing question for anyone who wants to answer
Do you feel that if you decided to try to write a book that you'd have to delete your lush or be secretive about it?
Like would writing here actually ruin your chances at getting a book published or would people even care?

Write that book!

I don't think you need to worry about being on Lush, or having writing on Lush. You can't have the same material in the book AND on Lush, but you can always take it down from Lush later. I did that a bunch for the Shards (anyone remember the Shards?).

Not much going on. Working.

Thanks for the set-up, O Setters of Up.

And sprite, the official name of that color is monkey-shit green.

Tang, saw that you snuck in under me (heh). Can I get you a cuppa tea?

Coffee would be swell.
Loyal, long-time friend. Good writer too! And a successful businesswoman! And hot!
Huh. Don't think I ever have either. Weird.

A wildly over-rated position. 6, followed by 9, is much better. I call it 15.
HUGS

Hey all.

Thanks for the set-up Tonya, How come I don't get sex toy commercials on my TV?

Hey, the Mets actually won a game. Takjng on Gill's Nats this evening. If she Fed Exes over some sourdough bread I'll root for her team!

Still haven't finished this damn story. Can't nail the ending. Grrr.

Coffee please.

Try your hand at the comp. It's only 500 words. And 8 of those words are already picked for you. You just have to figure how to use them.

Good night, all.

I may. Still feeling under the gun on the current story, which I don't think is gonna be accepted anyway. sad I like it, but I don't think it's quite what they're looking for. Plus, it's long as f. And a LOT of work.

HUGS

Thanks for the set-up and brownies and music and yadayadayada, all the early morning risers who get things done here. Bill, I LOVE Garrison Keillor. Good line.

The Mets had a lost weekend. I didn't watch them for the most part. I probably will tonight - as most of you know I love to write/edit with the game on in the background.

Saw a good horror movie this weekend with LJ: Jeepers Creepers. Dumb monster, but well constructed otherwise. Also binged Justified deep into season 5 (I miss discussing Justified with Ping!). I though Rn Eldard in season 4 was a solid, deeply moving performance. One of my problems with the series is the death count is SO HIGH you'll see a great actor come into the series, and they'll die like two episode later (case in point: Alan Tudyk).

Not much else going on. Typically trying to get my Monday morning head in the game.

Coffee would be a poem.
HUGS

Hey, there Delacruz! Hey there Natalyia! Nice to see some fresh faces!

I was happy to see Stormdog hasn't left. I was worried when I first saw he might have, and more worried I might be a part of the cause, as I had just replied to him in the Think Tank, disagreeing over something (happily, I contacted him, and I was not a factor, just being my self-absorbed self). Good guy. Good writer.

I will stop by the Bleu space sometime soon. I've been tempted to post some of the recent stories there, but figured it would be rude to pull them down a month later when I try to sell them. I use the same username, and a similar avatar, over there.

Hope everyone's baseball teams are doing well. The Mets REALLY suck. And one of our few power hitters just opted out of the season over corny-virus concerns. Sigh.

Sling Scott and T a drink of their choosing. Beer and a shot please.

I've started to once again welcome user by saying, Welcome to the BoomBoom Room
It's cute.

There's a play called In the Boom Boom Room by David Rabe! I stage managed a production of it back in the day. The production kinda sucked, but it's a cool name!

Every single time I've been in the chat room, I can never figure out what's going on. It makes me feel old and stupid. smile

I crafted up another Madonna thing

With drift wood antenna and it only.plays Madonna movies
right now its playing "Desperately seeking Susan"

Sure!

I just made a VCR out of sea kelp. Let's watch Sleepaway Camp (chilling admission: I've never seen it!).

This recipe dates back to the Civil War and is out of Russellville, Alabama.

2 cups White Corn Meal
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Baking Soda
2 Eggs
2 cups Buttermilk
1 tbsp. Melted Bacon Grease

Sift dry ingredients. Add eggs. Add buttermilk.

Add grease. Put 2 tbsp grease in frying pan and
place in 400 degree oven to get hot for a few minutes.

Pour batter into frying pan and bake in 400
degree oven for 20-25 minutes.

If not brown on top, put under broiler for a few minutes.

Thump out onto plate.

That sounds really good. My Dad was really good at cornbread, I have a little game at it. Glad you don't list sugar. My Dad always said cornbread with sugar isn't cornbread, it's cake.
HUGS

Thanks for the set up and the donuts, Carl. Glad the Royals are winning. The Mets sure aren't.

Tonya, my girls in their sleep-over years could create more messes and chaos than I thought possible.

Glad your allergies proved chill, T-Goddess.

My foot is fine, the new stove is fine. They did not give me a discount.

I have a 12,000 word story finished, and 15 days to cut 2000-3000 words before I submit it. It's long and weird (heh). And, like all my other stories these days, is about a soft apocalypse.

Date night! No plans. Theaters just opened, but no new movies, just old "classics." Don't know the price, or what social distancing steps have been taken. I'm tempted to go, but LJ is still scared, so we'll wait. At least until Tenet comes out - I'm like first in line to see that. I miss movies.

Coffee please.

*HUGS* Just want to interject. The Padres are at 4 wins 2 losses at the moment. Just to note, the account Ping had started on Sacre Bleu is now deleted. G-man is out of the building.

My bad, Larry. I had spaced you were a Padres fan.

The Rumps baseball standings:

Padres 4 2
Braves 3 3
Mets 3 3
Nats 2 4
Royals 2 4

Iced tea would be swell.
HUGS

My foot is fine, Bill, thanks for asking. The stove is getting replaced today, hopefully paired with a refund.

I'll stay out of politics here, except to say the Trump tweet that we postpone the election sent a chill up my spine this morning.

GOOD Mets game last night, even if the Metros lost. I see none of the Rump teams--Mets, Braves, Nats, Royals--are over .500. I don't even care about the win-loss records, I just like to have baseball back, even if it doesn't last. And it looks like the Marlins were the only team with new infected players. Also, the only team stupid enough to go out on the town before the season began.

I miss Ping!

How did you end up going Verbal? Do alright?

The flash stuff didn't sell well AT ALL, but the short stories sold well, and the Open trilogy of stories did quite well. Thanks for asking!
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! It was really heart-warming to see all the Lush love! Yay! I'm not worthy!!!
HUGS

Thank you all for the excellent birthday wishes! I appreciate the wonderful messages here and on the birthday thread, so sweetly set up by Curvy. The pizza was great, as was the cake. And the Mets won! We have a winning record again!

I had a stove/fridge delivered yesterday, since we needed them, and we are slowly moving toward selling the house, and my Dad always said he wanted to get me a new fridge/stove for my birthday or Christmas. Anyway, first time using the oven, the fronting glass FELL OFF and landed on my foot. At least the glass didn't break. So I am hassling with the store to get another delivered, preferably with a discount.

Thanks for the set-up, Tonya and CG. Coffee would be lovely.
