Today is one of the hardest ever. I woke up with a terrible migraine in the middle of the night and something told me to stay in bed this morning. When I got up one of our relatives was here to tell us we lost an angel this morning. My very best friend passed away. She was only one week past her 52nd birthday. She is my sister, my friend, my mother all rolled into one. She was the very best person I've ever known. She has had a terrible life but you'd never know that. Her father committed suicide when she was a teen and her mom passed shortly after. She lived with her brother and his wife who was not nice to her. Her brother became an alcoholic whom she took care of and the father of her children cheated on her even when she had cancer in her spine and couldn't even walk to take care of her babies. Her brother passed three years ago and she found out she had cancer at the same time. She was cancer free for a year and just found out it came back. Her first grandbaby is due in two weeks and she won't even get to meet him. This virus has kept us all away from her with her weakened immune system. Now she is suffering no longer but I'm devastated. I'm sorry, I guess I just needed to talk to someone and y'all ended up being the ones. I know so many of you have lost loved ones recently and it's so hard to handle. I'm sending everyone hugs.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Tonya. Life is a house on fire. She sounds like she took the bullshit life threw at her and became a stronger, better woman in spite of it, or maybe because of it. I so admire that in people. My condolences, dear.

Drinks're on me.
So, I'm back from the hospital. They did the jump start, but it didn't take, I'm still in a fib. Wah. Shocked me three times. They are gonna try to solve it pharmacalogically. Again, it's neither life nor health threatening, just disconcerting. So no real worries.

I am tired (EARLY procedure) and a little drug-addled. Just ate some magnificent pizza with LJ, and we will soon retire to watch a little Justified and fall asleep VERY early.

Anyway. Happy weekend everyone. I can't drink for 24 hours, so I will have a root beer.

*HUGS*
This is great advice, really specific and on point. Wish I had read this when I was writing erotica!
I really like the HUGS that begin so many of the posts here lately. Something we need in these times, and something I will always give and receive.

So...HUGS!

Not much going on here. Working. Doing the heart jump start tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. They won't let me have coffee, but I figure shooting a bunch of electricity into my heart will have to suffice.

One last kup of köffee please.

Meet Fred

OMG he is so cute! I bet littley is beside herself to have such a sweet kitty. Great name too!

It looks like there might be a baseball season after all! They are apparently close to an agreement. Huzzah! A round on me (and by me I mean not me). I would really love to have baseball as a distraction from the crazy world outside my door.

In other baseball news, J-Lo and A-Rod are reportedly looking to buy the Mets! Maybe they can get us to the World Series.
Enjoy a most excellent birthday, Vanessa! Wghen we're done with all three It's Alive movies we can start in on Sleepwalkers! Scary incestuous energy vampires and lots of heroic cats!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VANESSA!!!

There are two birthday threads for you, because there is to much love for you to fit on one thread. I hope you have an excellent day, and that you can put some distance between you and this crazed, rabid mad dog of a world out there. *pulls out a bong and all three It's Alive! movies and a BRAND NEW KITTEN!!!* Let's get started!

Hugsss thank you Lynn. And yes i know the rainbow bridge.

Thank you Brooke and everyone else for the hugs
I'm trying to cheer up a bit. Sometimes I think I'm too sensitive for a world like this though.

Anyways i hope everyone is having a great night
I'm having a tatiana groovy blue cigar (.even though I technically quit smoking ) and I shopping for a good camera so the next time I explore abandoned places I can film.

Coffee please lots of it

Jeez, I had no idea, Vanessa. It is so heartbreaking to lose a pet. Big hugs to you. And you should show us some of your photography!

Hi everyone! Actual Bill-made coffee! Such a rarity! Thanks, Rumps! And thanks for the brownies, Curvy T Unquenchable!

So apparently my heart has been in and out of a-fib since at least January. It's not supposed to be health-threatening, or even life threatening, but it's annoying as f, since I am so easily worn out. So they are gonna shock it into regular rhythm on Friday morning. Sounds scary, but it's supposed to be a routine procedure. And LJ will take me there, take me home, and take care of me.

While I know it's not a dangerous procedure, it's freaking me out a little. Oh well, at least i can get a story out of it. I wish they shocked you while you were awake, so I could at least experience it.

Köffee please!

Thanks for what felt like an arm around my shoulder for a moment in time. I hope that you are able to have some sort of memorial for your Dad sooner than later.

Yes, my heart breaks every day for my Aunt Dottie. While losing Aunt Betty felt like losing my Dad all over again, it was Aunt Dottie that told me when my Mom died that she would be there for me when I felt like I needed a mom, and she has been. Now I can't even see her or be there for her. so the word heartache is quite appropriate.

A book like you describe would be so interesting. Funny and sad and bittersweet I imagine.

I'm gonna pass on the donuts this morning (Sara can have mine) but tea with some lemon sounds perfect before I head out this morning.

HUGS to all!!

It was meant to, dear. Your situation knocked loose a few memories of my own. Hugs and what passes for prayer in these benighted times.

I suspect I will attempt that memory care book someday. Gotta get all this erotica and horror out of my system first.

Fuzzy, I was NOT asleep, I was resting my eyes. Thanks for the treats!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Long day approaching today: I'd better get to it.

Köffee please.
She's pretty amusing. And doesn't take anything too seriously.

Thanks! I appreciate you thinking about me. Hugs to you for the loss of your brother and Kate's aunt. I can't imagine losing a sibling. Even the older brother that I don't get along with. I like your ideas. Our family is spread over several states, so the Zoom get together might be just the thing. As far as a memorial, I did ask the family members who live in Michigan if they would be willing to gather at the grave site for a prayer service and then I will get to spend some time with my son, his fiancée and my grandson. So that will be nice. I just wish I could go visit Aunt Betty's sister, my Aunt Dottie. She has to be terribly confused. But there was a resident who tested positive for Covid-19 and they are in a major lock down at the memory care facility. I toyed with going and just visiting through the window, but her dementia is such that I believe that would confuse her more. Dottie is all I have left of my Dad...

So, HUGS for all and sorry my bar attendance is spotty lately. Just trying to keep my nose above the water line...figuratively speaking.

Just some tea this morning, thanks!!

Kat, my continued sympathies. I'm wrestling with a memorial for my Dad as well. It was gonna be on May 2, but the 'rona took care of that, so I am on the fence about trying to reschedule a live memorial in the south, where new cases are popping, or do it virtually. I keep thinking about your aunt's sister, left in the memory unit, scared and confused. What a heartache.

I've long wanted to write a book about a memory unit, dipping in and out of the imperfect memories of those who are there.

Sprite, so sorry about your brother. I lost my sister over a decade ago, and I still think about her every single day. My love to you all.

We did, like, nothing this weekend, but it was an enjoyable nothing. Had a really nice dine-out restaurant meal Saturday night, which was freeing and fun. I got some writing done. Attended an online writing workshop. Still contemplating the MLC. We finished the Anna Kendrik Love Life (GREAT series) and binged heavily on Justified. That show just gets better and better.

Hope everyone is well.

Köffee please.

Third person is about the only acceptable way to "head hop" when it comes to perspective, IMO and it definitely should come with chapter blocks or section breaks.

Elmore Leonard is the kind of "head-hopping" and I don't know how he does it, but he can shift POV from one paragraph to the next, and it's so seamless you don't even notice. No italics, no breaks, no nothing. It just flows. I remember when I first noticed, four people in a room, and he jumps from head to head, and you are never confused as to who's head you are in. It's spooky!

Glad to read that your daughter is okay... I'm sure the medics will sort it.

I'm not going in The Tank again... apologies if it was too much on the thing in London, it's heavy shit, really unhappy about it. My only friend, through thick and thin, he married a lovely Indian lass. She got the full nine yards as a kid but we made big strides since then. I see this and I see it happening again as a backlash for them and their four (!) kids, it scares me. Sorry again if I was tough.

Okay, Ines is back after a massive heart-to-heart with my mum tonight.... five hours... what on earth do women find to talk about for that long.

Brandy Hors d'Age please... the good shit.... In real life, I can see a brief 'chat' brewing.

Eh, nothing that a drink between friends can't fix. One of the things my Dad passed on to me was a love of civil political discussion.

Gotta be careful in the Think Tank, it can suck you in.

We had disappointingly crappy barbeque take out. On date night, no less! I am anxious to go out again and see a play or a movie.

About to finish binging Love Life. Good show!

A brandy for Martin, l will have a beer.
Late to this party too! The thread title is happy birtay, which I didn't understand until I realized the "hd" was missing, clearly because you are so high definition yourself. Okay, that was a long and convoluted path to a birthday greeting, but it's been a long and convoluted day. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful you-day.
My sincere condolences regarding your aunt, TG. Dementia is a cruel fucking disease. Her poor sister, all alone in a memory unit now. I have cried my share of tears in memory units. Have some beautiful, incandescent experiences in memory units too.

Been at the docs and the X Ray place with my daughter today. She'll be okay, but she's having a lousy time of it. I hope the docs can figure out what's up.

Not gonna talk politics, because I've been pissed off TOO MANY TIMES today over it. Even declared a time-out on FB over it. I'll go with this instead: 45 years ago today Doc Ellis pitched a perfect game while tripping on acid. Not all heroes wear capes.

I'm ready for liquor. Two thin fingers of burrbin please.

In other news, a young family a couple of doors down who just moved in 8 months ago, moved out this week. Economic consequences of Covid-19! The husband was laid off and they couldn't make the mortgage payments.

I remember in 2008/09 during the housing bubble pop we had four houses on our block go empty because people couldn't afford their mortgage. It was sad and scary.

You did. I ordered Rump a blow up doll, and a ginormous butt plug for the gaping asshole I told you about. I hope it fits.

So, Gary AKA Martin is engaged. I remember that blinded bliss. Capture that in a bottle. It’s worth every drop.

No coffee for me, thanks. It’s nice not getting caffeine headaches anymore.

Got any cigarettes or heroin or something else less addictive?

Have a great Thursday everyone!

I could NEVER give up caffeine. Like, I'd rather give up breathing.

Gulping it down now. Took youngest to the ER last night, got home in the wee hours. She's okay, I think. Bad stomach bug thing. I would have bet money it was appendicitis.

I get to edit Youtube transcripts today. Perhaps my least favorite job duty.

Köffee please.

Probably the best series I've ever seen (outside of Game of Thrones) and got me going on reading all of Elmore Leonard's books that I can find at used book stores. Not sure how I missed him all those years!

It's one of the few series, along with Vikings and GOT, that I bought on DVD. I live out in the boonies so crappy satellite internet is the only option. Streaming movies, etc, is not doable, so no Netflix, Hulu, etc for us.

I remember when the story it was based on was in the New Yorker. I was so excited the New Yorker published Elmore Leonard. They published a Stephen King story in that era too. Don't know if they are still publishing popular writers - I let my subscription lapse a long time ago.

New TV addiction is Love Life on HBO Max, with the incandescent Anna Kendrick. LJ and I are on new episodes of that like Godzilla on Tokyo.
I'd eat literally every sandwich on there but the tuna ones and the hellish liverwurst sammy (hate that stuff).

I think the meatball sub is calling my name right now, though.

Good morning all. Happy Hump Day (is that still a thing?)

So, there were plans yesterday afternoon, I was meant to go out for a run, Dog was about the re-discover the ying-yang of human-mutt dynamics. It was such a lovely afternoon, the timing felt really right, so I asked Ines to take a walk with me. Like Verbal, the last few weeks we have been working through what to do next - MLC stuff.

Ines and I are engaged I kind of knew last week when we walked out to Pondfield Cove. I told my Mum on Monday night, well, we both got something in our eyes. She gave me my Nan's engagement ring, if Ines liked it, she could keep it. She loves it, oh were there tears...

Very happy are not the right words... We're looking to move back to Paris in the autumn, and we're booked to go to Nice too to see Ines' daughter (fingers crossed - cross everything).

Big decisions... feels great...

And... I have a bit of a Champagne hangover and we're taking the day off...

Double Espresso Macchiato please.

Congrats on the engagement, Martin, and on approaching your MLC with a spirit of adventure and excitement! Good luck to you and Ines. I am sure you do not need it. Congrats on finishing the 60K words of En France.

And hey, Annie, sorry you felt your story was overlooked. I've been there too. Sometimes stories just don't catch the readers the way you'd like. Comes with the territory. You have a TON of readers who love you though.

Work is again annoying today. Gotta put my head down and get to it.

I'd love a köffee.

Jules. Winnfield mode

"'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you.' Now... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, that meant your ass. You'd be dead right now. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinking: maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here... he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. And I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd."

Feel better V.

Me? Really pissed off about Trump calling the 75 year old guy who was put into the hospital by cops an antifa terrorist. But otherwise I guess I'm okay.
I have hitch-hiked a bunch. The most epic trip was from Iowa to NYC, via Canada. Went straight north into Minnesota, then Canada, went east around the Great Lakes, then down to New York. Stayed there for over a decade.

One of the great formative experiences of my life. SO much fun, and SO mind opening.

And I'll never let my kids do it in a million years. smile
Hey all.

Listening to the George Floyd memorial and working. Somber mood.

Cold rainy day. Snow in the mountains last night, and there will be snow there again tonight. Nice to look at the frosting on Pikes Peak today.

Thanks for the advice Sara, about saying YES! I tend to agree. Stilling figuring out the details.

Vanessa, you sound pissed off at the chirping birds!

One last cuppa köffee please.
I can't figure out how to write these damn micros, much less judge a comp of them! Congratulations to everyone who did, including Mags, Liz, S-Dog, and all those who placed. Great comp!

Evening all, We had a Good Road trip (252 miles) today checking out some new camp sites spots as we are picking a new RV trailer. It has full size bunkhouse beds for the grandkids. Yesterday evening was a scaled back Community Summer Event, due covid 19 no Carnival but we did have a Cruise Night followed up with Fireworks. Our Son in Law got one of the Volunteer Fire Dept truck and we cruise around in that. It’s been a hot and windy weekend but still enjoyable. Thank for this fine licker! Cheers!

That sounds like Big Fun. Never lived in an RV, but I love to camp, and have road tripped from campsite to campsite a lot.

Congrats to all the winners and placers in the micro. Strikes me as a dizzyingly hard comp to judge, but Mags' story truly rocked.

I have the option for a Major Life Change soon (yes, as major as marrying LJ) (that's not the MLC, though we'll marry soon). I'll stay vague, but it's all good news, I think, and entirely optional on my end. I have three weeks to think about it. Yikes! So, knowing absolutely nothing about it, tell me: YES or NO?

Sorry to hear your hubby is gone, TG, but that will make the reunion that much more special.

Had a great weekend. Should be a nice, chill day today. Yay for that!

Köffee please.
Sara, I did see where the players union rejected the proposal. Football and basketball already have plans in place, but baseball just can't get their shit together. I suspect there won't be a season.

We survived a rare weather event yesterday! A derecho. A line of thunderstorms at least 60 miles wide, traveling at least 400 miles, and average wind speed of at least 58 (or something like that). Really windy, dumped a ton of rain. It was kinda cool. Then went to Denver with LJ, went to AN ACTUAL BAR!, and had a ton of fun. Drank too much, but no hangover. Proof of a loving God.

Started a new horror story this weekend. The title? Chew. I will let you work out the content yourselves.

Off to grill steak. A beer would be heaven.
Usually. We went to our first restaurant meal out last night. Didn't wear one, but we we on a patio and distanced. Wore one to go inside to use the bathroom, per their rules. Going to a newly opened bar tonight and will probably do the same. Things are pretty opened up here.
Quote by curvygalore
Looks like I'm the last one out and first one in. If I ever left! ;)

So BB is all de-sludged (saved for Carl), rinsed and refilled and there's a fresh pot of tea on the bar for the lovely Tonya, the lovely TG and them there Scott lads.

The brownies are plated and there are some fresh berry slices too. And the mug washing is under consideration.

We'ce gone from positively Mediterranean weather here, to blowing a hooley and actually cold. Brr!

Susie, I loved your story. Highly recommended and congrats on a well-deserved RR!

Ah, Curvy, you keep this place warm and caffeinated! What would we do without you? I hope we never find out. *snags a brownie*

I second Curve's recommendation of Susie's story. It really is a well constructed, well plotted tale.

Day off today! I'm sitting here on LJ's couch, sipping coffee, watching her work at the kitchen table. I'm trying not to look to enviable smile so she won't feel bad having to work. About to crank things up and spend a good, long day writing.

More köffee please.

Good morning Curvy.. yep I need a coffee on this chilly "summers" day.

Vanessa, I hope you are ok.. sending you a hug too...

I got a new story finished yesterday. It might appeal to some of you. Got a bit of a supernatural twist to it but still manages to squeeze in some sex too. ChrisM was kind enough to give it an RR which made me ever so chuffed smile

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/supernatural/-leanan-.aspx

Congrats on the RR Suze. I like the premise! And Gunpowder gin! I'll read it.

My boss gave us all a free day of, so I am taking off tomorrow to get a three day weekend with LJ. We are going to our fave date restaurant In PERSON and having a real restaurant meal on Friday. Off to Denver on Saturday to hang with friends and go to an actual bar! Both places are socially distanced seating, but it still feels like the world is opening back up.

Astronomy geeks: full moon on Friday, and in our part of the country the Starlink chain of satellites is showing up Friday and Saturday night. It looks pretty trippy. I've looked for it once and couldn't find it. Supposed to be bright this weekend. Link to find the time where you live is below.
https://findstarlink.com/

Hope everyone is well!

Köffee please.

EDIT: This just in! Got an RR, like 6 years after the fact. I will admit I always liked this story and hoped it would get some attention.

SECOND EDIT: Susie, your story rocks! A well deserved RR!
