this was totally on him. just decided to self delete. guy has been a bit volatile lately. happens to the best of us.

Self delete sound like a sad euphemism. But it does happen to the rest of us, you are right. Ping, I know you are watching this thread, you went too far, suck it up and come back. Insult politicians and celebrities, they are the ones deserving it. We love you, you magnificent bastard.

Another day of writing. Having a bit of imposter syndrome. I'll just have to work my way through it.

Sigh. HUGS

Coffee please. And a cricket for Terrence. Put it on Ping's tab.

Verbs, you're retired?! All you retiring people right now are killing me. I'm incredibly jealous!

Tomorrow I get to sit in on my old editing class. It's been forever, and maybe it'll kinda feed writing needs a bit. Life is trampling on my creativity these days.

No more Chardonnay for me, I'm off to bed. Big, clumsy hugs to all.

Yep, I'm retired. CSU offered me early retirement and I took it (notice how I always slip in the phrase "early retirement," so my fragile male ego can point out I'm not of retirement age).

And yes, Suze, I think Ping might be in Lush jail for being harsh with people in the dreaded Think Tank. Ping, you Magnificent Bastard, you need to wear a rubber band on your wrist, and if you feel you are about to type something harsh, snap the rubber band.

Things're good here.

Two hours til beer thirty!
Interesting discussion of lowballing scores.

To be fair, some of the 1's I got were from a guy who was giving constructive criticism. My stories were kinda experimental (the Shard flash stories), and I really didn't know what I was doing, and he thought my stuff was plotless and pointless. He was right, it was pretty plotless. He had a reason for the 1, and I didn't disagree. We had a pretty pleasant exchange about it.

I don't think that's what you are describing James. What you are describing describes a garden variety asshole. Lotsa those in the world.

Thanks for all the well wishes about the critique. It went REALLY well. The other short story was really well done. Good group, good comments. And Kimmi, it's a virtual group, though they are based here in Colorado. But if you are truly interested drop me a message. They do horror only.

Ping jerking off in a Coke. Thanks so much for that image, Kimmi. My eyes!

Time for a quick cup of coffee. Then therapy!

Peace everyone.

All of it. Probably the most difficult was filling out death certificates--I'm an L&D nurse, women don't just up and die on us. Early in the year, as I was filling out one of the first ones, a Reuters pool photographer caught a pic of me. My hair was tied up and I was sort of at an angle to the photographer, but what is stunning is what he captured--there were teardrops on the paper. And I don't cry.

I'm up to 203 certificates now, just me. I don't know why I keep track of the number, I just do. We are all human, but at the end of the day, we're just numbers and letters on paper, lives untold.

Our prayers and best wishes go out to all of you on the front lines. My God, what a year.

Can we see the picture? You could block out the eyes or something... smile

My brother was hit and killed by a drunk driver leaving behind a wife and daughter.

OMG sprite I had no idea. My heart leans out to you. That is so tragic. <hugs>

I lost my Dad at the beginning of the year, which sort of colored everything that followed.

Friends, I am having a problem with at least one of my story series: A Slut's Life, the autobiography I'm co-writing with Nika S. (I'm helping her because English is not her first language.) And it may be that my issue is even more widespread.

Someone is leaving low scores, apparently deliberately, specifically 2's for my stories. This seems to me to be a deliberate effort to drag the average scores down. This also happened with Bonnie's Big Gangbang.

At first, I thought it was just one story, or just one series, or just one person, but a new story, published just this afternoon, "Naked Slave", has received 4 scores so far, two of them 5's, and two of them 2's.

Yeah, I used to get 1-bombed on a pretty consistent basis back when I was writing on a pretty consistent basis. I always took it as a badge of honor, that a story provoked such a strong reaction it resulted in a 1.

I've also noticed most of the 1's disappeared after awhile, and assumed Nic and company had scrubbed the scores that looked like down-voting. I don't know if that happens with 2's or not.

Hey, DD, nice to meet you. That tarantula had been around this bar longer than any of us! He lives in the hot nut dispenser.

My first critique group meeting is in 20 minutes, and I am nervous as f.

Hit me with with a shot of Safeway Select burrbin, please, Bill.

That was me this morning, I'm like, shit, its like i missed a whole season of some streaming series, I have no idea whats going on

I still watch Columbo from time to time, its on a free channel in my area LOL

Hope retirement is going well.

round of coffee on me for everyone, just the cheap stuff though. I'll take a cup of the good stuff.

I know. It's like going to bed and waking up a year later, with a full gray beard and really long fingernails!

Retirement is going great. Thanks for asking!

One last cuppa. I'll take some of New Scott's good stuff.
HUGS

Jeez! Four pages of posts since I last posted on Saturday. Place is popular! I hope everyone is well - I'm too lazy to go back and read four pages of posts.

I'll be in the corner with the paper. Sara, here's the sport section, right under Terrance. Take it if you have the courage. But Terrence appears grumpy to me.

The new Denzel movie on HBO is really good. And Denzel is really good in it. He'd be a great Colombo.

Starting a new writing critique group tonight. I hope they aren't too mean.

Coffee would be swell.
I miss her. Even if all we ever did was talk about horror movies in the Forum. smile
I've always enjoyed your writing. Congratulations on hitting a 100. I'd be happy to by you a drink and steal a donut for you.

Anyone see Verbs? Sara, it's only 18 days until Pitchers and Catchers report. Verbs is a Mets fan, you're a Braves fan, I'm a Jays fan – any thoughts on whether anyone can take the Dodgers this year? I don't think the Yankees are going to be in the running. Not enough pitching. Thoughts?

I'm here. Yeah, all three teams are in tough divisions, and you have to face the Evil Empire of the New York Yankees, favorite team of stockbrokers everywhere. Mets aren't quite ready yet, but the Jays and the Bravos should have great years. Carl's Royals have some game this year too.

Mets vs. Jay's July 23-25. I bet Bill can resurrect that dusty old black and white TV in the corner and show all three games!

Thanks for the set-up, Curvy the Unquenchable. And for the tunes, Carl the Unflappable.

HUGS

Welcome to the bar, DD. The world can be cold but it's warm in here.

We are having a lazy Saturday, after a Friday that was no fun at all. I'm not even gonna write.

A round of beer for the humans! A round of grubs for the insects and arachnids!

Peace. And one last cup of coffee.

Technically a vibrator, but I didn't always turn it on. Does that count?

Wasn't really my jam though. That and I was panicked I'd lose my grip and end up on world's funniest x-rays.

My experience, nearly exactly. I kept hearing such good things! I kept thinking, this is fun, I just wish I didn't have this STUPID TOY UP MY ASS so I could enjoy it. Mine vibrated too, but I declined.

I really did give it a try, with an open mind. Tried solo and with help. Not my jam either. Fingers are welcome though. smile
Ha! I own under 5.

Do you own any non-sexual toys?

Good morning Gracie Anne, and welcome to Rumps, the finest bar within these four walls! Just beware of the denizens – male, female, and otherwise – there are some real hungry types here. Present company included, of course.

I'm James, and I'll be your tour guide until Bill / Rumples himself, can liberate – I mean, stop by.

We have a wide range of regulars here, from the lady-like, such as Curvygalore and Tonya, to off-the-charts waccos, like Ping. Carl (fuzzy1954) is our tune-master (and a sneak who will suck up your Jameson's if you're not looking), Bill is the barkeep, and generally keeps what order we have around here. Terrance is our head of security. He's a tarantula, but mostly stays in the nut warmer (munching kind, not… well, skip it). Best stay out of the dark corners – unless you mean business, that is, in which case, I'd be happy to show you around!

Oh, and watch out for Michelle (twisted_skald). She's a wild, celtic Wiccan, a licentious lover of libidinous ladies, and loves to lick the lively ones. She's also one of my best friends, so that should tell you a lot. Oh, and she's lesbian. Did I say?

Me? Well, I'm a hopeless scribbler, addicted to words in all forms, collaborationist, contortionist, and sucker for a pretty face, usually female.

So, welcome! And of course I'd be happy to share my Jameson's with someone who asks so nicely (unlike a certain lyin' we won't mention…).

Care to tell us about yourself? Or even show us, if the mood takes you?

p.s. I notice, looking at your profile, that you're married to Daddy_D, which is fine. We don't discriminate against the married. Indeed, we like to share the wealth! (Actually, kidding about that – there's NO WAY I would share the Lady Jay, my wife of long suffering. Hers, not mine.) I believe your Daddy wandered in a little while ago. Anyway, you're both welcome. Come at different times if you have different agendas, OK?

There are other people here too, James.

I came back safely from the wilds of northern Colorado. Lovely day for a drive. Mountains covered in white, mostly clear sky. The roads were clear, though there was a TON of construction, which keeps you from getting complacent at the wheel. Anyway, seven hours on the road is a long day, but not an unpleasant one.

And in giving over my work computer and laptop (and even my office chair!), I guess I'm officially unemployed. Not that I'm complaining. Much.

HUGS

Sara, hope you enjoyed the sports section. I'll leave the rest of the paper on the stool here.

Welcome to the newbies. This is a great bar to hang out in. It just showed up one day, like Brigadoon, with Bill standing at the bar like it were the prow of a ship, and he the proud captain. We've sailed many a mile together.

I hope all the humans have an excellent weekend, and all the critters learn to give Terrence the tarantula a little personal space until he's had his hot nuts.

Coffee would be perfection (obscure Friends reference).

Peace.

My spiny mantid moulted overnight successfully smile I'm pretty sure it's a male. He's now quietly sitting still to harden.

Quietly sitting still to harden. Story of my life. :) Love that little guy.

Ms. Dragonfly, I don't think we've formally met, at least not recently. I feel for you, and I also know the healing power of funerals. Grief is a way to hold on to the people we've lost a bit longer. Peace.

Bill, bring on the scorpion! We may need to segregate all the little creatures in cages, but COMFY cages. I will just set these Sea Monkeys down here. They are not lunch for the critters.

Hitting the road for 6 hours of driving. Road are clear, and the mountains are topped with snow and VERY pretty. I am looking forward to it.

Sara, I gift the sport section to you today. And James, you got a good solid pitcher from us - Matz! You gave us three minor leaguers.

LOTS of coffee please.
I have.

But we were very lucky, in a number of ways. And honesty and communication, even when uncomfortable (actually, especially when uncomfortable) was the engine that made it run. And makes it run to this day. smile

Ping, that pic above this post is insanely hot. Not so much the padlock. But everything else.

Haha! He'd lose his mind looking through a telescope. Currently he likes watching the mantids through a magnifying glass, especially when they're eating. He's very much into learning about the world. I was thinking about getting him a first microscope and slides for his birthday next month, but we'll definitely have to get him a telescope at some point.

PLEASE let me know if you get him a telescope - I can steer you in the right direction. I LOVE telescopes. And it all came from getting one when I was a kid.

Helping him discover the world of mantids is too cool for words. Good on you!

More coffee please. Those Sea Monkeys are not gonna take over the world by themselves.

Verbs mentioned he likes the newspaper and I asked if he ironed the paper, maybe a few know the secret to ironing the paper is to stop the ink from getting on your hands.
Back before the DotCom bubble I had my Jeeves always iron my paper....ahhhhh the "good times" oh and his name was James hmmmmmm was he a Scot ??

Who knew? I had no idea. Thanks for the info, Fuzz. I read newspapers for years, and still love them. I stopped having them delivered after my Dad died. It woulda been fun to hang out and read the paper and complain about politics and baseball and just be retired together in general. I'm contemplating starting a subscription up again.

.Png, I went straight up from Minneapolis and went around the Great Lakes. I had a tent and sleeping bag and mostly slept in campgrounds (I relented and got a motel room once). The only towns I remember are Wawa, because there was a statue of a giant goose, and Montreal, because it was the only big town I visited, and because I got laid there. She worked at the science museum. smile

Emma, invite your boy to my office sometime. I haver SO MUCH stupid space crap to play with! From a Marvin the Martian electronic Pez dispenser to an actual telescope.

Okay. Planning to type those magical words THE END sometime today. And then go get ready for the road trip up to Ft. Collins, 24 hours delayed.

Thanks for the set-up, dear Curves.

Coffee please.

I really liked Cherry Falls. Reminded me of Disturbing Behavior for some reason (another good movie).

My last movie: The King of Staten Island. Really good.

Euphoria's second season premieres later in Jan. I'm rewatching the first season now. It's 89% on critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 85% among viewers.

Zendaya won a bunch awards for her role including the Emmy for best actress I believe.

I was dead wrong on this. I'm not done yet, but so far it's really good. Hearing descriptions of what they did with the "pandemic episodes" made me curious.

I'm watching Pretend It's a City, which is ostensibly about Fran Leibowitz (sp?) but it's really about NYC, and makes me miss that town terribly. Particularly during the "dirty" years, before the Disneyfication of Times Square (I LOVED the old Times Square).

Morning all! I'll have a mocha laced with rum please, it's raining here. Yes, I know Canadians probably think 26°C means it's time to strip down to your underwear, but here it counts as jumper weather.

*whistles nonchalantly, hoping people notice the RR next to the latest chapter in his series*

I did not know that, thank you for enlightening us. I wonder if I can work that factoid into chapter 4..

Congrats on the RR!

Yeah, I'm trying to work it into my story too. It was gonna be about how Sea Monkeys are spores from outer space, but now I'm trying to figure out how to turn it into some White Supremacist's genocidal plot, Unsuccessfully, so far. Let me know if you succeed.

Quote by LYFBUZ
Sea Monkeys. Back in the day I was a bit of a comic book kid and everyone of them had a page of ads for stuff like sea monkeys, Charles Atlas and all kinds of strange and unusual stuff. I remember ordering these crystals that grew like stalagmites in wild vibrant colours. Winter here has been mercifully mild with only about 6 inches of snow on the ground. In a bad winter driving can be an adventure and I've found myself doing unexpected 360's. In one snowstorm I was in two accidents in one day. I was actually hitchhiking at the time and ended up getting two consecutive rides that ended in no-injury accidents.
Take care if you drive Verbs.
Do you have snow tires down your way?
As an interesting side note bad weather here is often caused by a "Colorado Low." Thanx!

Hope everyone is well, I'll just have a hot chocolate with some peppermint schnapps please.

Thanks for the cautious words, LYF, I officially decided to blow off the trip, at least for 24 hours. I much as I enjoy road trips, I hate driving on the Interstate. So, just me and LJ and the fireplace and the cats tonight. We should trade hitchhiking stories sometime, LYF. I've done my share - including hitchhiking in Canada!

Hit me with some peanut butter flavored bourbon, Rump! And a round for whoever is here, lurking in the corners.

hi peeps
*grumbles and mumbles as I beat the snow off my boots *
Fking snow.. It's pretty but damn.. Woke up to about 5 inches of snow so it cancelled my shopping adventure today.
A extra large hot chocolate with a truckload of mini marshmallows pretty please!!
Thanks alot Jeff for sending it my way.. *sticks my tongue out at you *

Bill I'm keeping an eye out for that weather mess you got hit with yesterday.

*eyes the cookie but decides to be nice and not eat it * Carl would cut off my sprinkle donut supply
*hides The sports page from Jeff *
Stay safe everyone

See, that's what you get for hiding the sports section!

STILL snowing here, so I am frantically Googling snow conditions in the rest of Colorado to try and decide if I should cancel my trip tomorrow. # hours of driving each way - I don't wanna have to do it in scary (if very pretty) conditions.

Did you know Sea Monkeys were perfected and marketed by a White Supremacist? For these and more fun and useless Sea Monkey factoids, follow my OnlyFans page!

A shot of Safeway's Select would warm me up, Bill!
Big snow all afternoon and night, and snowing today now. Sorry, Sara, that all are weather is likely to now hit you. Still, a very lovely and peaceful scene out. Listening to LJ work at the kitchen table, while I slowly gather some ideas for the coming writing day.

I'm supposed to drive to Ft. Collins tomorrow to return all my computer and office stuff. I hope roads aren't too bad. I love to drive, and even love to drive in the snow, bug the I-25 corridor is filled with crazy aggressive drivers.

HUGS

Digging the Bernies, Ping.

Slipping a poem into the casket is a lovely personal gesture, Dragonfly. Though there was no casket, I wish I would have done something similar with my Dad. I did leave a baseball by his gravestone, next to the flowers. I hope it is still there.

Carl, is the sports section ironed yet?

Coffee please.
