So, Original Scott, the Arthurian based erotica sounds like a great idea. I take it a threesome between Gwen, Lancelot and Arthur is too obvious a tack? Damn.

Lotsa stories getting pumped out by the denizens of this fine dive bar. I shall attempt to dig into them soon.

I finished a story today. It's not exactly erotica, there are about 4 sentences worth of sex. I'm calling the genre apocalyptic romance. I might post it here. We'll see when I've got the rewrite.

It'd been a pretty crappy weekend here, to be frank. Don't worry, LJ and I are fine. But I am really fucking sick of this stupid fucking year. Sounds like a lot of peeps here are feeling the same. A drink to better times, friends.

Sorry, Penman, not in the mood for Laphroiag. Can't even spell it. Something cheap and strong should do the trick.
Hey, all.

T-God it's heartwarming to see you taking such good care of your brother.

Penman, healing thoughts going out to your daughter in Denver.

Gill, so sorry to hear about your aunt in hospice.

And Ping, you and your Mom and your fam are in my thoughts often.

Depressing, unnerving times. My quarantine for my run-of-the-mill cold was over yesterday, so I get to see LJ tonight. We are going out to our favorite date restaurant and get take out food - they have a spicy Brazillian Shrimp soup that is frikkin amazing. Really good sandwiches there too. And jalapeno/bacon mac-n-cheese that is nearly as good as sex.

Stay safe and sane in these benighted days, friends. I'd love a coffee.
I once split an artichoke pizza with an ex-stripper I was dating (long story) and it was the worst pizza I ever had. So, yes.

HYE made one of those Chef Boy-R-Dee's pizzas from the grocery store? Little bag of flour for the dough, little can of tomato sauce?

How is that weird? Or are you being sarcastic? Erotica SHOULD be WAY more life-affirming than horror. Well, unless it's erotic horror, then you're into another whole weird universe anyhow.

Weird that my world-view changes 180 degrees when I switch genres.

I'll join Scott in a scotch. Laphroaig. Hold the peat moss.
A most happy birthday to one of my favorite people here, and one of my dearest friends. Yeah, I could put up a pic of a birthday cake or a hot girl or something, but I think this says it best: (!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)

Enjoy your day dear.

Thank Goddess for Tonya, I have actually just ran out of coffee! I need to actually leave the house later for more! I can't believe I let my supply fall that low!!! I might have to resort to my emergency supply of instant (Yech!)

Brooke, coffee was the VERY first thing I stocked up on when this hoarding thing hit. Extra coffee and emergency powdered creamer (I prefer milk but will use the powdered stuff in a pinch). More important than food!

Yes, that is Verbal, the wily bearded lizard on my pic. I looked a little wild and woolly in those days. LJ asked me to trim up, and I happily complied. She does much of my facial grooming herself. She loves to groom me, and I don't complain. You should see us on nose hair day. smile TMI?

I had a video session via Microsoft Teams with my therapist yesterday. What a weird world this has become, in a matter of weeks. It went well. I blathered on about writing and how all my stories are ending in death and suicide these days. My erotica is WAY more life-affirming than my horror writing. Weird.

I just write em, I don't always understand em.

Anyway, work and writing call. Coffee would be lovely. Hope everyone is well. As always, thanks to Curves, Tonya, Bill and Fuzz for the caffeine and assorted pastries. Can I have a bear claw with my cuppa?

Great job as usual with the competition banner Liz

Oooh, nice banner.

I'll be right back. Doing some...research.
Makes perfect sense that people are less likely to sign in when everyone is home - kids and spouses likely to run into the room at any moment.

And I am trippin on your real-life face, Verbal.
Also, diggin the button-up.
Did I miss the trend of candid avatars?
My mug = Not so photogenic.
Vanessa, though. Mmm.

I am fond of button-down shirts, A, though I'm much more likely to wear a tee shirt.

This is me with what LJ calls my billy-goat beard. She convinced me to trim it closer, to my current length. She is surprisingly persuasive. smile

Bill, I always suspected you were an old hippie. Setting up a commune-like oasis here in the middle of the desert. When society fails, Bill will lead us from the wilderness, with Rump's as the new model for humanity. I can dig it. A new religion: Rumplatarian!

Thanks for all the set-up, CurvyGirl and Tonya, and for the donuts, Fuzz. When the new religion comes, they will put you guys on stained glass windows.

Work has calmed. Writing is going really well for a change. Cough is almost completely gone. So I guess I can't complain. I will, I'm sure, about something.

Coffee please.
My Dad worked for John Deere, so John Deere Green had a pretty special place in our house. Rest peacefully, Joe Diffie.

I was SO hoping the new comp would be corona-virus related, as I've got a half a coronoavirus love/sex story written already. A comp about Plucking the Magic Twanger should be fun, though.

My daughter and I are both pretty much over the respiratory thing. Quarantine is over by the weekend. Yay!

I will not mention my feelings about our President bragging about his TV ratings during press conferences where people are tuning in to see how badly their loved ones will fare in the wake of a deadly virus. Oops, just did.

Coffee. I'll need a lot.

run screaming toward, horror movies and bong in hand
Sure, a decaf. Maybe she can tell me what she's undecided about. smile

i have a rock band now. our first single is called "Ping's Tiny Thing". 'nuff said.

Can I be your Theremin player/lyricist?

Sample:
Ping
had a thing
and he taught it how to sing
but then sprite
took a bite
now he wears it in a sling

I could go on for pages. Better shut me up with a beer.

Hi Mitch! Hi Curvy! Hi Sara!

800 word day. I'll take it.
If your life is bad, just think to yourself, things could be worse, I could be a character in one of Ping's dreams. Yikes! That coyote dream alone is pretty frikkin gory. I imagine the stress from the hospitals and watching you Mom fade from view is turning your subconscious into quite a circus sideshow. My sympathies.

A similar real-life story: when my girls were very little they came tearing around the side of the house and into the back yard, screaming and crying. They were being chased by two dogs. An aside - I got attacked badly by a dog when I was a kid and can be scared of them if I'm surprised by an aggresive one. But this day all fears fled - I ran out and clapped my hands and yelled at the dogs and it stopped them in their tracks. They ran away. My girls still talk about it. I felt like a superhero.

So I have this habit of reading LJ advice columns on weekend mornings. Dear Abby, Ask Amy, Dear Prudence, Miss Manners. We LOVE advice columns. Anyway, for the last two days I've been recording them and texting them to her. It's fun and makes us feel closer. I will admit to adding in my own little details from time to time. My personal quarantine is over on Thursday. I feel much better. My daughter seems fully recovered.

Gonna try for 1000 words today. I'm not a fast writer, so it's quite a stretch.

Coffee please. Stay safe and sane, all. Drinks're on me. And by me I mean Donald Trump.
Sunny Saturday morning sitting before me like a blank page, can't leave the house, coffee and laptop in place. Time to write.

I'm actually writing erotica!!! It's a one-off, and all I have right now is a clever (maybe overly clever) title. If I can get the rest of the story to be as clever as the title, it may see the light of day.

Feeling MUCH better. I should be fine by Monday.

We watched two TERRIBLE horror movies last night. Girl on the Third Floor, and The Darkcoat's Daughter, both on Netflix. Avoid at all costs. Trust me. Tonight we'll finish off the rest of Killing Eve.

Okay. Gotta get these words down on paper.

Coffee would be a poem.
Quote by Denim_Daisy10

Maybe Siren
Sounds like an interesting title

It's about a satanic stripper. Win-win!
Boy, do I like our Governor. He just gave a thorough, non-political, data-driven presentation on Co-19 in Colorado.

Okay, onto my real question: what should we watch on our Quarantine Date Night? Netflix has: Girl on the Third Floor, The Blackcoats Daughter, Deadcon, Siren. Be aware we've seen most of the horror flix on Netflix.

Beer please.
Episode 1 of the Star Wars trilogy (I don't remember the actual titles of these movies). Better than I remember, though still not very good. That pod racing scene holds up well. And Natalie Portman is a CUTIE!
Ha! Yes. And it is not a pleasurable experience at all. Given the context, I can't imagine becoming turned on.

I generally prefer women docs to men docs. I don't know why. I have more women friends than men. I guess I tend to trust women more. And I definitely think women tend to be more interesting than men.

Is that sexist?

I have had a couple attractive women docs, and it wasn't a problem (I vaguely recall debating asking one of them out, but never did).

Now, therapists are another matter entirely smile
Thanks for the setup Bill! And for those delish brownies Curves. And thanks for the donuts Reese!

I finally have a cough free night! Two nights ago I was up all night coughing and listening to depressing late night radio conspiracy theories about Covid19. I was in a sleepless fog yesterday. But NyQuil and Codeine are an effective one-two combo. Woke in the middle of the night and thought OMG! I'm not coughing! Feeling much more rested today. I will work a half a day. Don't wanna push it.

No LJ this weekend. sad My doc put me on a 7 day quarantine, to keep respiratory infections down out there in the real world. We will have a tele-date tonight, and watch a movie. Netflix and tele-chill. smile

Stay safe sane all (except Ping, we don't want him sane, he is much more entertaining when unhinged).

Throw on some tunes and break out the Trace, Fuzz.

Coffee would be lovely.
Back from the doc. I do not have the Orange Virus. I have either a respiratory infection or a cold, prolly the latter. They gave me the GOOD cough syrup.

Hope everyone is keeping relatively safe and sane. Gonna take a nap.
Okay, I'll put my pic back up. For Rump's solidarity in crisis! It really is comforting to see everyone's face! Linda, you are a beauty.

I have a bad cough. No fever, so I don't think it's Covid, but it's bad enough so I am going to the doc this afternoon. Hard to sleep when I'm coughing all night.

My youngest, thank God, is doing much better.

If you are bored, there's a good interview with Max Brooks about Covid. He wrote World War Z, but based his zombie disease on SARS. Great book. Awful movie (and it has almost noting to do with the book). You can learn a lot about viruses from it. He has a couple other books about Pandemics out. I may buy one if I get bored.

https://www.npr.org/2020/03/24/820601571/all-of-this-panic-could-have-been-prevented-author-max-brooks-on-covid-19

Hang in there everyone. Ping, thanks so much for the Nightmare Fuel Clown Dick pix. I'll never be the same.

Vanessa, Bug is $4 on Prime. Let's start a horror-fest.

Hey, Rumps should have a watch party on Netflix! There's a Netflix watch app, though I haven't used it. Has anyone?

Coffee please.
Coughing. Blowing my nose. Sneezing. It's hot.
Whatever it is I have (no fever, so don't think it's the Virus) showed up in full force last night with a cough that kept me up much of the night. Grrr. I am, as a result, tired and irritable.

Working a few hours, then hitting the drive-through at Walgreens for a prescription, THEN grabbing take-out for everyone to eat. Then back to bed I assume.

LJ started working from home today. She's not a fan.

NyQuil please. Pour one for Gill should she come in.
Grace, I like your conclusion that Terrence T Tarantula is the smallest thing able to survive inside Rump's atmosphere. You have to be at least one Terrence-Unit big.

Bill, I am glad you wife is out of the hospital, and sorry she is not back home. There is a Romeo and Juliet star-crossed lovers vibe to her not being able to leave the residential facility, and you not being able to leave home. Glad you were able to spend time together.

Tonya, the school sounds like such fun.

And hey, read a swath of comp entries last night. We've been well represented. I'll read more today. And Vanessa - Clown Dick? I'll never look at clowns the same way again.

I have an erotic story in my head about a one night stand in the time of coronavirus. But I suspect that's not a very original idea.

I am down with either a cold or the Virus (no fever, which points to a cold). It's not terrible, but I am taking the morning off in hopes of nipping this in the bud. Sitting in bed reading the first chapter of Lena Dunham's new novel on my phone and listening to all-coronavirus-all-the-time news radio.

Strange days indeed. Most peculiar, Mama.

Thanks for the set-up, dears. Coffee and NyQuil please.

EDIT: Put my pic up to express some, I don't know, camraderie? Community? It's nice seeing everyone's faces. Anyway, it won't be up for long (heh), because it makes me nervous.
Happy birthday Annie. I hope you have an excellent day and your curiousity leads you into adventure!

Hot damn, did you actually find a woman who likes horror movies?? My wife won't even watch s-f and f, let alone horror. Other than Vanessa here, I actually don't know many female horror fans.

I was meh on the original Pet Sematary other than Fred Gwynne being in it. The book came in the period when I was starting to sour on King and the movie suffered from the association, I think.

Oh, and on comps: I don't worry about whether I have a chance of winning, but now that I've had a sixth place finish, I think I've intimidated myself. Basically, I want any comp entry to at least be as good as that one.

SHE LIKES THEM BETTER THAN I DO! And I like em a lot. I'd say over half the movies we watch are horror. She's not big on sci-fi, though.

The first Pet Sematary was pretty lame (it was, incidently, the first R-rated movies my girls ever watched, at a slumber party without parental permission, scared my youngest to death). The remake is good. The book is probably my favorite Stephen King. Really disturbing, and striking at the heart of deep parental fears. Kind of a blood-drenched meditation on grief and loss. The movies, not so much.

Shot of bourbon. I'll have it in my sickbed.

Saying it once or twice is acceptable. But every fucking time a competition it mentioned?!?

BTW, I’d do the same thing!

Your penance... you must read my competition story TONIGHT. Rocky Mountain High. Sprite said that Nicola is revealing the results tomorrow. Don’t be late to my party. Put your hands on me and feel my love.

Oh, speaking of love. Tell LJ I just posted my very first love sonnet. You probably don’t know, but she’ll know it’s a formatted Shakespearean poem. I’d love for her to read it.

Incidentally, I’ve never won any Lush competition I’ve ever entered. Just saying.

No, it was rude of me. Particularly for celebrating what is essentially cowardice on my part, only entering a comp if I feel I have a good chance of winning. Far more joyful to be like Larry and Ping and the like, entering for the camraderie and sense of community. I will happily accept my next-to-last place non-entry award, and humbly work on my competitive nature (unless of course we are playing poker or Risk).

Serious congratulations to all the winners and top tenners and anyone who had the courage to enter. Yay Tam! Yay Vanessa! Yay Ping! I will try to get to several of the entries tonight. I feel symptoms coming on and have nothing better to do.

LJ and I watched SO MANY MOVIES this weekend. Mostly horror. The worst of the bunch was Along Came the Devil, which turned into a shameless Exorcist rip-off about half way through).

Best thing we saw was the remake of Pet Sematary. I expected to hate it, but except for a couple last act missteps, it was pretty good.

Hope everyone is hanging in there.

Hot tea please.
Quote by Ping

You just made Layla laugh.

She says, and I am quoting, that me saying I've won every contest I've entered was "schmucky of me." It kind of was.

I'll have a bourbon rocks. LJ will have a gin rocks, three olives.
