howdy folks
A quiet day here on my little mountain
A large hot chocolate with a truckload of mini marshmallows would be awesome.
It's library day so I'm just waiting for my friend to show up.
Last night's party was excellent and a big success .
Working on a couple of things so we will see what I can get finished lol
Any donuts left?
Happy Wednesday folks

Glad your party rocked Sara. I like how spring training always begins around Valentine's Day every year. Love and baseball! What else do you need? More importantly, the first spring training baseball game is 12 DAYS AWAY!!!

Work and writing are both kicking my butt a little bit. Busy days.

And...LJ is leaving town to go visit her Mom the day after Valentine's Day. sad Wah. Nine days of dull bachelorhood.

Iced tea please.
Yep. Frequently. Lonesome Dove was the last one.

HYE seem a movie more than 10 times?
The ability to send .docx or .pdf files via Lush-mail. Not everyone wants to send dick pix! It's a writing site, we should be able to send stories.

We just saw this on HBO last weekend. Good movie, but it was sooooo sloooooooooow.

I've boycotted the Oscars for year! And will continue to until Yosemite Sam gets the Best Actor Award.

In the meantime... Yay! Drinks are on me. I am celebrating my first 400,000 view story! 4x Legendary! One of my early stories, just a short telling about a frat party l was at in college, called A Frat House Party Turns to Gangbangs. Over 400,000 views! I am stoked!

So, a tall straight Jack Daniels on the rocks and an ice cold Dos Equis in the bottle for me. Thanks, Rumpy! And a round for all in the bar.

Cheers y'all!

Ya ornery varmint!

400,000 views on ONE STORY!? That's nuts. Congrats! Very cool.

Eldest daughter passed her driving test early this morning, and so now had a driver's license. Look out world. At least she doesn't have a car yet. She's a safe driver, a little too safe actually. She needs to learn to be more aggressive on these crazy interstates.

Slow work day (so far anyway). I will hopefully be able to carve out some time to edit this damned horror story. I submit in 5 days. And not the fun kind of submission. Okay, it's kind of fun.

Coffee please. *steals 4 of Alyx's 6 brownies while no one's looking*
Okay, maybe I was being too harsh on Joaquin's speech. Yes, it was very passionate, and they are all good causes. I am just skeptical of celebrities (and politicians) advising me on how to live my life. I'm looking forward to the movie. Now get off my lawn.

I agree that Brie Larson was looking pretty good. Natalie Portman was looking quietly hot too. No Jennifer Lawrence. smile

The Eminem thing was jarringly out of place, but what the hell, it's a good song, and I enjoyed it. The montage right before it about songs that defined movies was really nice.

I know I have not read anyone's stories in ages. I just finished a story (for the monster anthology I was in last year!), and finished reading a novel by a friend of mine, so I have some breathing room, and will try to get to some of them.

Drink're on me, and by me I mean the person posting just below me.
Thanks for the setup, Bill. Thanks for the brownies CTU!

I watched the oscars beginning to end last night, which is rare for me. Loved that Parasite did so well. And I loved that Brad Pitt and Bruce Dern and Renee Zelwiger won. I did not see Joker, but I found Jauquin Phoenix's speech annoying, and I was seriously bummed Adam Driver didn't win.

Sorry for all the probable misspellings in the last paragraph.

Daughter got a new cat - a 9 year old tortie named Nila (she changes pet's names a hundred times, so we will see if she actually settles on that one). Taking her to the vet in about 15 minutes - routine first check-up.

COFFEE!!!
Parasite is a great movie, and deserves the win. There is a part of my heart really wanting Once Upon/Hollywood to win because of the performances, and because it's almost sweet in the way it treasures Sharon Tate. Hard to think of a Tarantino movie as sweet, but it is.

I could go with either one of those movies for best director too.

Really hope Adam Driver and Scarlett Johanssen win best actor/actress, and Brad Pitt gets best supporting actor.

Hey Seren, pull up a stool and have a drink. Daisy, 44 days til baseball season!

Barkeep, a bone marrow infused bourbon, please, and keep em coming.
Triple post. That gentleman above me is DREAMY, though!
The menu from the hipster speakeasy LJ and I went to last night. It's inside another hipster establishment, a tapas bar. We had Big Fun. Personally I think that it's hipster to worry about whether the place you are in is hipster. Just relax and enjoy yourself.

I had a flight of 4 Colorado bourbons, but I am kicking myself for not getting that bone marrow infused drink at the top of the menu. Next time. LJ had the Saint of Lost Causes. We shared.

Snowing pretty hard here. Got to get in grocery shopping. I will keep an eye on the Oscar's as I write tonight - they are too boring to watch without some distraction to turn to.

A round on me. And by me I mean the next person who walks into this fine establishment.

Coffee please. *steals Ping's egg cloud*

This is really an excellent poem, and I am not a big poetry reader. Fully deserving of the coveted EP!
Tapas bar for date night! Assuming we aren't snowed in. Though I'm happy with snowed in too. smile We can order a pizza and settle in early for the night.

I agree 110% with what Verbal says. I forgot this simple idea and for 9 months I keep trying to write what I thought others wanted to read. I read his simple advice and remember who I am writing for. Now all I can do is thank him from the bottom of my heart. I read this, realized what I was doing and wrote a story that night. It is posted and doing very well. All because Verbal helped me remember who I was truly writing for. Thank you Sir. I owe you a lot more than I can even say. Write for you, make yourself happy. Then others will find you and see what you can truly do.

Didn't see this til now. Thanks! And you are welcome. I think it applies particularly well to erotica: you've got to write about your own fantasies (and realities) in order to get any real heat going. If you are getting turned on by your writing, others probably will too.
Thanks for the set-up, Miss Tonya. Funny story about Littley. I'm glad she didn't get in trouble.

Fuzzy, I'd like that donut with the broken M&Ms on it please.

Ping, are you talking, like, a washing machine? Or are we talking blender size? If it's something big like a washer, I think it's gonna haunt your conscience like the tale tell heart, clunking loudly in the laundry room as police detectives visit your home until you cry out your guilt and reveal your purloined appliance.

Ton of snow right now. LJ is on two hour delay. I have no two hour delay, but most of the state is shut down, so I have very little to do.

But I finished the unending story last night, and it is due on Saturday, so I have a window of opportunity to edit and cut.

Coffee me.

Well you probably just jinxed yourself!

Nope! I got hit! Yay! My spammer is named sprite. And at least she game me a 5!

You haven't written anything in like, ages. hint hint

I've written a ton. Just no erotica. smile

"Stephen raced west on I-15, trying to beat the sun, keep the Pleiades on the cusp of the horizon, but he wasn’t fast enough. Even keeping the speedometer pegged between 85 and 90, the sky continued to turn, the stars and the moon and the sun kept their pace, the moon dropping under the line of the horizon in the west, followed by the Pleiades and all the rest of the stars in the black unblemished Southwestern night sky. As if emphasizing the point, thin fingers of the sun's rays reached up to the brightening sky on the Eastern horizon, the dawning of the new day reflected in the rear view mirror.

He didn’t stop often. He stopped for gas every four or five hours, and used the break to go to the bathroom and buy energy drinks and microwaved burritos. He had a bag of weed and and pipe hidden under a jacket in the passenger seat, and when no traffic threatened, he’d lean over, fill a bowl, and take a couple brief hits. He didn’t want to be heavily stoned while driving, he didn’t want to fall asleep at the wheel, didn’t want to blunt the emotion of his arrival to the shore of the Pacific Ocean. But he needed a way to keep the pang of grief at bay. Weed, Red Bull, the monotony of the white lines unspooling beneath him and the promise of the horizon ahead did the job.

Night began to fall again as he crossed the state line into Nevada. The Pleiades shone in his rear view mirror, the wrong side of the sky, but Stephen knew that wouldn’t last, the sky never stopped turning, and he could not outrace it. As night wore on the Pleiades would rise in the sky, reach its zenith in the middle of the night, and by the time he reached the ocean the Pleiades would once again be low on the Western horizon, centered in his windshield, just in time.

Everything set in the West. The sun, the moon, every star and every planet overhead.

The West was the graveyard of the sky, what everything headed toward before disappearing below the rim of the world. Where everything went to die."
This just in:

Nice to see Mayor Pete doing well. He's not my first choice, but I like him, and he would get my vote in the general election.

I thought Pelosi ripping up the papers at the end of the SOTU was REALLY childish and unnecessary. We're in an election year! Keep your shit together, Nancy.

Not much else. After a couple hard weeks, a chill day at work.

And that no gout, no heart issues diagnosis is pretty cool. They were talking of using the paddles to shock my heart back into a normal rhythm. CLEAR! Thanks for the well wishes, all.

Coffee for me and whoever else would like some.

Hi all. My first time here in many many months, as I'd been away.

Barkeep, set em up, on me. I'll take a beer, cold if such is possible at a joint like this.

I'll buy you a beer. You seem familiar. Do I know you? smile

A bee for the newbie, another for me. Gotta pound it down before the SOTU.
Quote by sprite

shit. means i gotta buy my own goddamn legos. i demand a second opinion!

Don't worry, you are still in the will.

If you die first, can I have all your, um, "kitty" toys?

Ready for a beer.
The cardiologist said a) my heart spontaneously went OUT of a-fib, as mysteriously as it had gone into a-fib, and 2) my risk factors literally add up to 0. So, all is well, no harm, no foul, I see her again in a year. I don't even have to take the pills that cost me $235 frikkin dollars.

Shots for everyone, in celebration!

Still no results from Iowa. Weirdness. In a couple hours they say. And the State of the Union tonight. Back in the day, I used to tell my kids they didn't have to do their homework if they'd watch the State of the Union (the speech was their homework). I never miss it, regardless of who is President. I figure it's one of my few duties as a citizen (along with voting and staying reasonably well informed).
Quote by curvygalore

Erm, I suppose not having gout is a small positive. But still... blimmin' scary. Hope you're okay, Verbs?

The doc said there is no reason to be overly concerned, so I am taking him at his word. I see a cardiologist today at noon, so I will know more later.

Weird about the Iowa caucuses! While the issue is almost certainly incompetence and a lack of testing, it's hard not to wonder if there are other players at work in the shadows. Regardless, it erodes trust in our voting systems. Scary year ahead, folks.

Got tapped for another issue of Amazing Monster Tales, but I have to finish the damn story by the end of the month. Life gets so busy.

Thanks for the tunes Carl, and thanks for the set-up, Tonya and Curves. Good luck in court T!

I'd love a coffee Bill.

Mornings must be tough for you.

That's real life horror involving mirrors.

I've seen more of the Best Picture noms than I have in many years. I'd be happy if Parasite or Once Upon a Time or Marriage Story won. I loved them all. If I had to choose I guess I'd vote for Parasite. It's just so hard (heh) and unrelenting, and really plays out the premise thoroughly.

I may get to 1917 this weekend.
A waste of time horror movie called Look Away on HBO. It had mirrors and I'm a sucker for horror movies involving mirrors.

This is not a fun story like your other fun stories. I am just saying.

Hey, at least it turns I don't have gout!

Another coffee for me, and whatever Jen would like. Other Scott, Kat, and Bee, whatever you want as well. Within reason. smile
Hey there Bee. Welcome to the deep end of the best dive in cyberspace.

Great game yesterday. Sorry your boys lost Tonya. I enjoyed the halftime show too - Shakira especially. My fave half time of all time is still Prince. Beyonce rocked too. And when Aerosmith was joined by Britney Spears as "the missy who was ready to play."

So. Fun story. Friday I went in for a regular doc exam. He did his thing, listened to my heart, said he wanted to do an EKG, no big deal, and then he came back into the room and said "You need to go STRAIGHT to the ER! Do not pass Go!" Turns out my heart is in a-fib (I only know what that means from old ER reruns) and is a little wonky. Not life threatening, and it's fixable, and everything should be okay. Still. Yikes!

Coffee please!

Just got back from afternoon stuff and sitting down in front of the TV mid 2nd quarter. Good game. Not much in the way of commercials, though that Google one pulled at the heartstrings a little. I am a little resentful that Corporate America has hoodwinked the American public into believing that we are supposed to WANT to watch them sell us things. But maybe I am a little bitter these last couple weeks

Okay, halftime show is about to start. Outta here. I would love a beer, and gin rocks for my lovely wife.

Go KC!
Morning all!

Nice to see you in here, Jenna.

Date night! I think we are just going to a new Tapas bar, which should be fun. No play or anything. Maybe a movie on Saturday. Maybe 1917!

About to finish a new story. Should top out at about 8000 words, though I will trim a couple thousand in the second draft.

The Serious Moonlight book is shaping up too. This will be the collected 44 Shard stories, and will include the print book. Out in maybe 2 months. Anyone wanna give me a blurb?

I'd love a coffee.
