Newsradio. It's an ancient TV sit-com Layla and I are binge-watching. Great cast. Phil Hartman, Maura Tierney, Stephen Root.

I have given up waiting for Game of Thrones. I will rejoice when it rears its head, but it has taken so FUCKING long I am no longer actively waiting.

I am looking forward to season 3 of True Detective. Loved the first season. Have seen a minute of it yet.

Here you go, dear Lady Nicola. You can share some wine, or even a Dirty Martini. Cheers for all the grand things we have around here.

By the way, Hannah, the link to Verbal's newsletter is right here.

https://mailchi.mp/d61b1c236830/seriousmoonlight

That should work. It worked for me earlier today.

Thanks for putting up the link, Larry. It's in my sig line, but I suspect folks are so used to the days my sig line having 10-20 stories on it in tiny print that they no longer look at it for fear of being overwhelmed. Or something.

And sprite is right, Larry, your story was really imaginative. Yours too, Reese.

Anyway, there were a handful of folks who signed up after the newsletter went out, so I JUST NOW learned how to send a newsletter to a specific segment of subscribers. So if Larry, Hannah, or Pen-man, if you get a newsletter from J G Cain today, that means I did it right. If you don't, either it's in your junk mail folder, you typed in your email wrong, or I fucked up.

Zima please!
Looney Toons. Though I am glad to see Underdog get a shout-out. Also, Tennessee Tuxedo.
Tea with Alelia would be lovely (though I will have a thermos of coffee hidden in my knapsack).
Congrats Hannah for cracking the top three and Larry for placing in the top ten. Strong field. I didn't even read most of these and I was impressed by the calibre.

Friends was fun. Sorta equal parts parody and loving homage. The audience was VERY into it. AND sold out! On a Monday night! Younger than we thought, though mostly women, and very, very, very, very white.

So this just occured to me, while typing that last sentence: is Lush inordinately white? I guess we often don't know the races of others here, but I would guess the demographics of Lush are whiter than the world at large. Thoughts?

Layla says hi. She is mere feet away, doing the LA Times crossword puzzle. She tells me Tuesday puzzles are easy. I'm not sure I have ever finished a crossword puzzle in my life. I'm not worthy!

I'll have a köffee, please.
Great comp, stromg field. Congrats to Mags (I KNEW you had this one), Fuzzy and Hannah, those were three extraordinary stories. Congrats to the entire top ten, to everyonne who entered, and to everyone who sits down in front of a keyboard to attempt to create magic.

Godzilla roars his approval!

i loved your old avi. i love your new one. i think i am developing a crush on you, or at least your avis.

It's the pearls. You are not alone.

A Zima please. (clap, clap, clap, clap)

totally honest and nice...but those avatars...

Just for you.

Adagio is a prolific and gifted writer.
She is sweet and kind and sexy, and a great writer - nuanced and realistic and wholly original.

Plus, you know, that avatar....
Thanks Curves! I'll have a cup.

Slow morning. Still trying to wake up.

A Famous Screenwriter (like, you've ALL seen this movie) signed up for my newsletter. He's not interested in making it into a movie or anything I am sure, I just know him from college. Still, it's nice to daydream.

We see Friends tonight! Our prediction for the audience demographics: nearly all white, nearly all hetero, lots of couples (Layla predicts groups of girls, I am less sure), age range 35-60. We also predict they'll sing the Friends song and make everybody clap at the clappy part.

I'd be embarrassed, but I have no shame.
Dude, I have been waiting to hear those three magical words from you--"send butthole pix"--my entire time on Lush. Fresh new pix are on their way! Feel free to send back a tribute!
Into the Spiderverse is EASILY the best Marvel movie I have ever seen. Endlessly creative and original and even a little subversive.

We had a blast of a weekend. Mildly hung over now.

Köffêè please. Thanks for setting things up, Curves.

Verbs -- how do I sign up for the newsletter? If I just have to request it take this as my ask. Have to see what all the fuss is about: Ping's reistance, talk of leverage etc

I always hated driving in freezing rain. Worse than anything except maybe whiteout snow conditions. May your Layla arrive safely!

Enjoy the trip to Denver. I was there over the holidays. My son, his wife and our grandson live in Stapleton. Sounds like it will be a fun event!

Penman, the signup is here: https://mailchi.mp/d61b1c236830/seriousmoonlight

You need an email address, that's it. And I promise not to sell your email address, unless someone offers to but it.

The first Mailchimp campaign went very well. Got a good response. Now, I am out of the closet with a few friends and relatives as being an erotica writer. The next family reunion should be fun.

Layla and I started a new binge-watch: Northern Exposure. What a good show.

Okay, we are off to Denver in about an hour. We might go see Into the Spiderverse, sine it got such rave reviews here. And because we alway do what Sprite tells us. As should you all.

I think the mobile Lush looks extremely cool. I almost never look at Lush on my phone though.

Kôffēë please, and everyone enjoy the weekend.
I just pushed the button on the Mailchimp "Send Newsletter" thing. So exciting! I even let a few relatives in on my "secret," so word that I write erotica is slowly spreading to the (alledgedly) vanilla world.

Bill, I think the sig line link works, ony the words "the Serious Moonlight newsletter" are linked.

Layla is off in freezing rain to drive a friend to the doctor. She is not used to driving in this crazy Colorado weather. I know I am being over-protective, they didn't cancel school or anything, so it can't be thst bad. Still, wish her well.

Drving up to Denver tomorrow to hear a friend read her astonishingly good sci-fi story to what should be a pretty big crowd (it's a promo for an anthology). Layla gets to meet an old (and fairly serious at the time) girlfriend of mine too! That should be fun.

Not much else happening this weekend. But...Monday is the Friends parody musical! Huzzah! Any proof that I (and Layla) are true dorks can be found in that little tidbit of info.

Köffee please. It's cold!

Greetings Curvy, Verbs, Sprite, Grace, G, Penman, Rump, Gill, Hannah and everyone else I’ve missed. Long time no talk. Work and holidays have been keeping me busy with little time for reading or writing.

Tonya, sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope your night out provides a welcome distraction.

G, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Hereditary and/or Mandy if you’ve seen them.

Verbal, I’m signed up for the newsletter and the hype train has left the station. Choo Choo! Countdown to V-day!

I’m feeling very healthy and happy in 2019 so far. I shelved my horror story for the contest because it felt too forced trying to tie it into the theme/image but it’s inching toward the finish line. Slowly but surely, I’m going to try to get caught up reading everyone’s stuff. I’ll take a hot tea, please.

I did, however, watch a ton of movies over the holiday break and I wrote up a list of my favorites (in no particular order) from 2018. A few of you might enjoy checking these out if you’re looking for something to watch.

Hot Summer Nights – The setting in this film is just so fun and nostalgic (early 1990s Cape Cod). Neon drenched with a killer soundtrack and the leads are just so likable.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – Seriously, this might be the best Spider-Man film ever made. The animation, music, story, and visuals are all incredible.

Hereditary – If you like horror and can stomach watching uncomfortable and morbid family drama, then I highly recommend it. Toni Collette gives an Oscar-worthy performance.

Eighth Grade – This should be required viewing for middle schoolers and high-schoolers. Bo Burnham did an incredible job writing and directing his first film. The cringe is real.

Mandy – In a word: METAL. Even if you don’t like Nicolas Cage normally, his umm "talents" are utilized perfectly here. Extremely violent with 80s retro visuals that made me feel like I had dropped acid watching it.

Honorable Mentions - Sorry to Bother You, First Reformed, A Star is Born, Annihilation, A Quiet Place

I will do my best NOT to hype too hard here. After all, trying to sell erotica on a site where the users are LITERALLY SURROUNDED BY FREE EROTICA is probably not the best business model. I will limit myself to my sig line and the Shardoverse thread.

As for the movies: I really didn't like Hereditary, though I really wanted to, and expected to. But...silly ending. There were two magnificent camera shots in it. The rest...meh. I liked Annihalation better, though I was confused by the ending (I'm easily confused). LOVED A Quiet Place, though it had huge plot loopholes. My latest two disappointments were Avengers: Infinity War and Ready Player One (great book!). I was looking forward to both, deeply disappointed by both too.

Really happy you had such a wonderful time with your little one on Broadway, Tonya.

Burrbin!!!
I once tried to rip panties off a girl and ended up flinging her to the floor by mistake. And not in a good way. She was not amused. Panties are surprisingly strong!

Ah well. Time for a cuppa cha and a newspaper read Wait! Those don't exist anymore!

I read the paper every Sunday morning! It's an addiction.

Damn. If I'd only realised I could use signup as leverage I might not have been so hasty, Verbs.

I am NOT goatily stubborn (I did have a goat-like goatee, but was persuaded to trim it back by the lovely Layla). You don't need leverage. I will do most things I'm asked, just out of curiosity to see how it all might turn out. I'm easy. And suggestable.

Sweet as Candy and Grace both have some nice new short tales up. I enjoyed them both.

Me, I wrote 150 words last night. It's a start. I also neurotically re-edited the newsletter for like the 10th time.

Thanks for getting the black sludge going, Cyn. Köffêè please.

Dude, octopussy is the future way to go. You should submit Beneath.

It's not futuristic. Yeah, I know they go on at the end about how they want "any stories that deal with unexplored aspects of how we approach sexuality now," but I don't think the current sexual zeitgeist much involves having sex with Lovecraftian creatures from under the waves.

Beeeeeeeeer! Please.
I drew eyes and a smile on mine once (and only once) with a Sharpie. It was pretty amusing to my gf at the time.

Happy Wednesday hump day rumps fam. It's nearing midnight here so I'll get BB brewing so we have nice strong coffee for the morning. Today was definitely a multiple cups of coffee day! It's hard being the hot baby sitter sometimes, I tell ya!

Hope everyone (especially Tonya)is doing okay.

Thanks for getting things up (heh) and running, Laura. You're our favorite hot babysitter. Glad to see that your pearl story earned you an RR - richly deserved.

I haven't written in like a month, but I have a little time and two ideas now, so I may give it a shot. I may even give Laura a run for her money with the pearls-as-sex-toy thing. One of my favorite subjects. smile

Little Ping, are you worried I will sell all your email addresses to some mega-corporation for Big Bux and settle on a private island with Layla and the girls? Not gonna happen. I mean, I'd sell you all out in a second, but no one is offering money, so it ain't gonna happen. All that will happen is me getting 35 whole cents every time someone buys a story. You used to be able to buy a pack of gum for that amount, and have a dime left over. no more. I am showing my age.

Seriously, thanks everyone who signed up for the newsletter. Quite a few did. Now I have more than two subscribers.

Enjoy Broadway, Tonya! One of my favorite places on Earth.

Busy day, and I already had a morning staff meeting. Köffee, stat!

Hey all. I'm about as beat up as they come. After three different hospitals, two ED's, going on our third night stay, a cardiac catheterization, a minor heart attack and now two stents I think we finally have our answers. I guess I couldn't have a better time to be wearing a holter monitor to check on my own ticket. I am having knee surgery at the end of the month but need cardiac clearance to do so. The only thing with this is yes it's been stress but my activity is limited as I've not been home for more than 20 minutes since the last ER visit on Sunday night. Does any other wives stay beside their husband night and day when they go to the hospital? A certain close lushie has told me it's too much and I need to get some rest as he worries about me. Anyway, thank you all for your warm thoughts and well wishes. On a positive note I am going to New York tomorrow evening to my first show ever. It's a gift from my bestie for my littley so we are seeing Frozen the musical on Broadway. I'm excited for this but hoping not to be too exhausted.

Oh, you are going to enjoy Frozen on Broadway with your little one, I'm sure, Tonya. I'm excited for the both of you. The theater and audience itself will be a thrill for her.

Yes, you need to rest. Take it from one who knows. You can't be a caretaker of others if you are so burnt out you can't take care of yourself. Rest. Say "no" every once in awhile. You are a good person who always goes the last mile to help others. You are allowed a break.

Beer me. A new Shameless Promotion appears on my signature line.

Congratulations. I just signed up for your newsletter.

I came across Vanessa Wu's cover last night. It's interesting seeing the various ways the same cover pic is changed for authors.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

A cold lemonade for me.

Hey, that's my cover art! Yeah, we both, I am sure, bought it at DepositPhotos. Her's looks nice. Thanks for signing up for the newsletter, Sensual. I don't believe we've met before.

Slept in a bit, because my back is still barking a bit, and because I didn't sleep too well. Too many distractions. I feel so decadent.

Kòffëė please.

And yeah, everyone should read Laura's story. It rocks.

I just submitted the final draft of the last half of the Stories Formerly Known as Shards to the line-editor tonight. Big step forward. The writing/editing part of the project is over.

Hey! Sign up for my Serious Moonlight newsletter! First one goes out next week. https://mailchi.mp/d61b1c236830/seriousmoonlight

Maker's, rocks, please.
Dude. To each their own, but that sounds like the most annoying fetish ever.
