I threw my back out yesterday, and it is not much better today. Sadly, because I work at home, and I can tolerate the office chair (barely), I ccan still work. Getting up for a fresh cup of köffee is a bitch though. Ouch! Anyone care to bring me a cup?

And I threw it out BEFORE I had to take down Christmas lights yesterday. Not an easy task. Luckily, Layla helped.

Jen has a hot and elegantly written story low on the front page now, Come Undone: https://www.lushstories.com/stories/lesbian/-come-undone-.aspx RR! I recommend it.

I am not writing anyting at all at the moment. I am making notes, so hope springs eternal.

Hey Rumps Fam, happy Monday! Sorry to hear about the trip to the Emergency Department, Tonya. And V-Man, sorry about the kitty. I know what it's like to lose a furry friend, not nice at all.

Overnight, my profile hit 50,000 views. I'm halfway to being a famous member. I'm also within 100,000 story views of being in the millionaires club, so that'll be pretty cool when those achievements tick over.

Drinks are on me, peeps, for today, what with people mourning kitties and being stuck in ED.

Thanks for the drink, Laura. Bill, any of that Maker's Mark left?

Laura has an excellent flash post, involving one of my many weaknesses: pearls. It's hot and smart. Read it.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/flash-erotica/-noli-me-tangere-.aspx

Best of luck with the heavy load, Tonya. I wish I could help you carry it. We're thinking of you.

See you during the workweek, everyone.
Our beloved cat died yesterday. She had been with us for 19 years. We were lucky to have her for so long. She was well-loved, lived a good life, and will be truly missed.

Sorry about the long night in the ER Tonya.

Life is a house on fire. Kôffēè please.

things are terrible. place went to hell without you. Hannah got married to some dude and then she tried to steal my gf away and THEN she sat on me. pretty sure everyone else is doing shit behind my back that'll piss me off too. yes, i'm looking at you, Furball.

Hey, don't look at me, little Miss feline acoustical sensory units. I didn't sit on you. Yet. Chill. I am just sitting here in the corner sipping on a canni-beer.

I am not writing at all and it is making me irritable. This Serious Moonlight thing is taking too much time! And the learning curve gets steeper and steeper.

Evidence of Layla and my secret lameness: I just bought tickets for us to go see "Friends: the Musical Parody" later this month. We know every frikkin line of that show, and quote it frequently ("I need to buy a vowel, because O my God!"). It's embarrassing. Seriously. If you were with us, you'd make us stop.

Another canni-beer please. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
Yes! I even have a subject - how she dresses when she goes out clubbing. I swear I cold read her descriptions for hours.

Hi V

I would make you coffee, but I'm awful at it. Thank God for the Keurig.

Layla has a Keurig too. I hate them - too much packaging involved, and you have to do a whole thing for every cup, and I go through a cup in like 10 minutes in the morning. Happily, she also has a giganto coffee-maker that makes really good stuff.

Sure, I'll have a cup of coffee with Ardent, if he isn't already preoccupied with Molly (who can be rather preoccupying).
Thanks for the brew, Unquenchable Cyn.

I did some more blathering over on the Shardoverse thread. Bill, our friendly bartender, commented, after which I blathered some more. I got paticularly interested in a project called mysexlifewithlola, which sort of mixes real life with fiction. The girl, Lola, does her thing, the guy, H H, writes about it. Interesting stuff. And hot.

Very belated happy birthday, little Ping.

Köffee please.

Jeff, he wrote: Oh well. I have 6 months to whip them into shape.

Me, I wrote: Jeff, never forget that, 'Tempus do fugit'. ;)

Believe me Bill, I know. This project is gonna suck up all my time this year, I think, and I need to stay on it. At least it's fun to work on.

Just sold Mindful for $3.

It's a zine called Pink Litter, and right now they are just a glorified Wordpress blog, but they are trying to grow, with an author's hub page, so writers and readers can connect, and they are now paying $3 (they published me last year, before they paid). They also publish ebooks. Anyway, trying to get some exposure (heh).

Found another interesting project while trying to connect with writers/readers: http://mysexlifewithlola.com/. The conceit is that it's all real life, the guy, H H, writes about the sexual adventures of his wife, Lola. It's sounds pretty true, or true-ish. Sadly, the gallery of Lola was on Tumblr and so has been shut down, and the longer stories are off the blog and sold as ebooks. But there is some flash there that is pretty well written and has the ring of truth. Plus, if you ask for a password, Lola will personally email you!
I'll have tea with Steph. She seems cool.

Hey Molly.
Happy birthday Sara! I'll but you a drink at the bar (with extra marshmallows!)!
So I broke the Shards (called Serious Moonlight now) into two pieces, because the whole thing was just too overwhelming.

The first half--26 stories--I am proud of, and they are all up on Amazon, ready to rock: line-edited, fomatted, with covers, categories, key words and burbs. Which buys me til mid-August or so. I have to write a monthly newsletter, and try to support via the web (Facebook, the website/blog), yadayadayada, but otherwise it's a matter of pushing a button once a week.

I am less secure about the second half of the stories, or the back 26, as I call them. Too wordy, too much dialogue. The meat is there, they are good stories, but they are sloppier in execution, and I think I was trying a little too hard. Oh well. I have 6 months to whip them into shape.
Thanks Curves, for getting everything up (heh) and running.

Hey, Gill. I am happy you got your parents to agee to downsizing. That can't be easy.

Nice to see you writing a second story, Reece. I haven't written a word for like a month. A lot of editing and formatting, but no new words. It's driving me a little batty. Battier, anyway.

Laura and I have decided that the next comp should have the theme of "Pearls." Make it so!

Köffee please.
I would. I have seen her around the forums and she seems witty and fun.

for anyone curious, this is one of the reasons i don't find time to write a lot for the site these days. lol smile

Selfishly, I'd rather have you write than mod. If I had to choose reading you or being read by you, I'd have to choose reading you (of course, I'm not writing much new these days anyway).
Still waiting on last night's Maker's Mark, but as it's morning you can just pour it into my köffee. Thanks for setting things up, Curves.

Still struggling to get back into the work week. A few projects have backed up in my email during the holidays - the first one is crossed off the to-do list, but I am taking a break to write this, and to steal a hot pic from BlackLeatherSkirt for my blog.

A ton of work done on the Shards (now called Serious Moonlight) during Christmas break. I'll write about it on the Shardoverse thread sometime soon, but I am feeling upbbeat and optimistic about the whole project (NOT how I felt told the end of last year).

Bill, you are right, I don't envy the judges. Partly because there are so mmany entries, partly because they are so long, and partly because there are at least three I've read deserving of the win, and I didn't even read most of them.

Enjoy 2019 everyone.

I've been wanting to watch this movie for sometime. I now regret not seeing it in the theatre. It NEEDS the big screen.

I/We found this super entertaining. A cross between Tron Legacy (one of my favs) and so many other movies like LOTR, Bladerunner (not really but kinda), etc.

My only beef albeit a small one, is that the movie is too long, and in some places, too predictable. However, two thumbs up from me, especially if you go in with zero to low expectations.

Much like my reaction to Avengers: IW, I liked but didn't love this. I thought it was kind of soulless, and I was seriously tired of all the CGI by the end. I thought the book was fun and original and energetic, and while the movie had its high points (the Iron Giant!) I thought it left much of what made the book worthwhile out of the story.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky.
Quote by sweet_as_candy

I bet you love it!

I liked it. I didn't love it. Two and a half hours of fight sequences gets wearing after awhile. I enjoyed it, but I had a bit of a headache by the end. CGI overkill.
Under the Shadow, on Netflix. A Persian horror movie set in wartime Iraq. Good movie.Lots to say about how women are treated in that regime.

In about 15 minutes I am finally going to get to watch Avengers: Infinity Wars! I'm psyched!

Happy New year my lush family here at Rump's. May 2019 bring you many blessings and much love. I hope all your dreams come true. Now since I am less than thirty minutes until midnight I guess I'd like a glass of something special to toast in the New Year.

That is so sweet Tonya! Priceless. Thanks for making me smile.

We were fairly chill last night, though I may have awoke (awoken?) with the teeniest of hangovers. Middle age has atrophied my desire to drink more than two or three drinks in a night. I also awoke with Layla and a healthy Jeff Jr in my bed, which was a wonderful way to begin 2019. I really do have high hopes for the coming year. Lots of cause for optimism.

Happy 2019, everyone. Drinks're on me (and by me I mean Laura, topless or not). I will have a bit of the hair of the dog that bit me: a tot of Maker's Mark.

I'd love a Long Island Tea. And wishing the best to the comp entrants, but l won't be reading any for a few days, so about to fly, fly away. I'll be in the Big Easy. Go Dawgs!

I was in jail there once. Nice town. I even enjoyed the jail.

This comp was off to a very slow start, but boy it is bubbling now. I have read far less than half and have encountered some great stories (and I haven't even read Persephone yet). This is gonna be a crowded field. Good luck all.

I spent the weekend putting up 26 stories (in draft mode) onto Amazon, with blurbs and keywords and covers and line-edited final copy. Whew. That should buy me til mid-August to finish the second half.

No plans for New Years Eve. We'll probably just have a nice meal, drink the first champagne toast when the ball drops (which is only 10 here, but it's when my Dad celebrates so he can go to bed), and the real toast at midnight. Then watch the fireworks off of Pikes Peak.

I will have a Zima (anyone remember those?). If I am not back in, happy New Years everyone!
I will be an honorary mod for a few days and verify some tales, if it will help. (Seriously.)

You'll see no stories from me til after the new year. I gave up trying to write during all the holiday brew-ha-ha. Ha ha.
Ottumwa, Iowa is my hometown and I am thankful I grew up in the Midwest. Friendly and polite and not nearly as conservative as it's made out to be. And, at the time, a great school system.

New York City, though, will always have a pull on my soul. That was where I spent my young adulthood.
SO not true. smile

You have no special plans for New Years, and plan to keep things low key.
So I read all the comp entires coming from Rump patrons last night (plus Saucy's, cuz she has some serious game) except for Hannah's, which I will hit tonight. Let me know if I missed you. Nice crop of stories. Really creative choices by several writers.

Today I am formatting all day, because I promised myself I'd have the first 26 Shards done and in draft mode on Amazon by the end of the year. Lotsa work, but not unpleasant work. It means I am not writing, though.

Before I begin I have to go feed Jeff Jr FOUR different medicines, and then rub a sheet of cat pheromones around where he hangs out (I am not making this up). Supposed to calm him and make him feel cozy. I have this fantasy that when I walk down the street, all the cats who smell me feel suddenly chill. I leave stoned and happy felines in my wake.

Köffêè please.
I have read exactly one comp entry (Little Ping's, which I read first because of the hyphen he gave me for Christmas) but will make a full scale assault on them this weekend. I shall try to read all the entries of the denizens (did I use that word right?) of the bar, which now includes the lovely Ms. Reece.

Have I mentioned how wonderful it is to wake up next to Layla, especially on a day off, when I don't have to jump out of bed.

Thanks for setting up BB, Curvy the Unquenchable. I will have a cuppa.

The Dan Simmons novel about the Franklin expedition? Haven't read that but a lady I know on the board I admin wrote a YA novel about Frenklin. Came out just before they finally located his ships so she was thrilled by that discovery. She did a shitload of research so it is fairly authentic historically speaking.

Good evening all. A virgin Hannah please.

That's the book! And I just spent TWO AND A HALF HOURS at the hair salon, and so had a lot of time to read (and my daughter's hair looks fabulous, so no big deal). It is really good, and I assume historically accurate. Plus Layla gave me a book about the Mary Celeste, so I will be reading about the Arctic for a few weeks.

Maybe we'll watch The Thing tonight to stay in the theme (okay, it's the Antarctic, but still cold as fuck).

Incidentally, Franklin comes out looking like a real dick in this. How does he come across in your friend's book? I want to look up the true story of the expedition, but don't want to run across any spoilers.

Merry Christmas all. Still haven't read any comp entries yet. Sorry. I will.

Grog please (it's in keeping with the book).

Day after Christmas day greetings to all who enter. Glad I am to hear our Tonya unit had a good, if exhausting, day.

As for our 'Cyn', late yesterday I noticed Jeff's name lead all the rest on the top writers list but not far behind him was the Bonnet Flaunter herself. Congrats to both of you.

Speaking of writers, Laura's latest story 'Windows' should still be on the main page. Check it out then thank me later for the suggestion.

Me thinks this is a good day to follow Tonya's plan and spend it on R & R (rest and recuperation), maybe even a little work on contest entries. So whadda ya want to help along that process? Big Bertha is full of goodness she's anxious to share and our bleers, whines and fine lickers are on alert and standing-by for serving.

And now my name is totally gone. Must have been a Christmas miracle! I missed it entirely.

Larry, weird about the comp entries. I was gonna sit this one out, writing and reading, but maybe I will jump in and read a few.

Right now I am reading The Terror (they made a tv show out of it but I haven't seen it) and after days and days of Christmas prep I would love to settle in with a book all day. But my daughter got a hair salon appt for Christmas, so I guess I am driving there in an hour or so. Tired.

Köffèé please.
JEFF JR IS COMING HOME TODAY! YAY! What an excellent Christmas present!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone. Good luck on the comp, those who are entering. I hope Christmas Day brings everyone life and light and love. And cool presents too! Me, I'll just sit around and play with my new hyphen.

Merry Christmas everyone!

If you look to your left, but on my avatar, you will notice an avatar rank change for moi.

I also asked St. Nic if she could gift for you a hyphen. I hope you like it.

Kids are so sore from skating that they can’t walk. Luv It!!!

Now, back to writing. Later all...

NICE! Think of that name as a birthday/Christmas gift from me to you.

I can't tell if my brand new hyphen has been delivered until I post this. I'm so excited!

Back from grocery shopping. Christmas food prep (Mexican, it's tradition) (and easy!) is slowly about to get underway.

Jeff Jr is spending one more night in the ER. We should bring him home tomorrow morning, with any luck.

Layla sez hi! Merry Christmas everyone!

I will have an egg nog, generously spiked.

EDIT: There IS a hyphen in my rank! I DO believe in Santa! I DO!
Bird Box on Netflix. Good movie, harrowing opening. Good book too.
