I did not see the image in question from The_Contemplative_Satyr, but if the moderator felt it was too phallic or gratuitous for general display, then please accept this decision and either source an alternative, censor/crop it, or leave it without one.

Further, if you find examples of other stories that may break our terms, please flag them using the Report feature and they will be considered on a case by case basis. We do miss things occasionally. That's not an invitation to embark upon a witch hunt, btw, just if you spot any during browsing the site. We are very pressed for resources as it is. Thank you.

I hope that’s a dress not a nightie.

Either is a win in my book 😜

This one is less open to interpretation

Please try now. A bug has been fixed today which should get it working... mostly.

There's still an issue loading an existing template and sometimes generating a cover is missing images. These are being investigated.

Doesn't have to be sex. In fact, I'm more interested in compelling characters and situations than just the sex.

Well that fell flat. I thought you may have read one of mine and realised I was joking. Meh.

I used to sit and write top to bottom in one sitting.

Wow, that's impresisve. It's very rare I do that. Not for a long time, and even then it was probably Flash.

I've occasionally done the ending and worked back. But more often than not I'll have a spark of a story beat—some line or a moment—usually occurring somewhere in the middle. I'll jot it down, then work out from there, backwards and forwards to build it in. Sometimes, if that moment is killer, I'll restructure the story and put it first to grab attention.

For the obsession comp though, so far nada. I'm letting the brief roll around the back of my head and hope something pops out.

If I'm not hooked with 3 paragraphs, I'm gone.

Dammit.

Note to self: put as much sex in the first 3 paragraphs as possible...

Pornhub... experienced a 47% decrease in traffic between 24 July... and 8 August,

46% of that decline was me 😜

Last time I tried it, all CandiAI seemed to want me to do was create an AI girlfriend and chat with her. I didn't need that.

Perhaps for any story that has at least three parts to it and receives 100 likes for each part, leave it to the software to count and award it

That's popularity not quality.

Under those terms, my series Pink would (almost, so very almost by 6 votes) be awarded an OS. But I very much doubt a panel would award it any accolade for depth of writing.

I've never managed to make Perchance generate anything close to what I want. It always screws up some aspect (ably demonstrated in the examples Vampire_vixen posted: the little finger longer than the rest. The taut bondage strap that randomly fades out near her belly button. The weird lips...).

Most of the "free" sites have deficiencies or require credits and even then return stupid imagery. I favoured sexy.ai until they dicked around with the models and it went downhill fast.

Stabledifffusion worked for a bit, albeit with frustrating quirks, but now only seems to spit back amateurish pictures that look like they've all been run through Photoshop's Solarize / Cartoon filter. Granted, that might be because I'm a UK resident and the stupid nanny law means I can't generate anything photorealistic any more for fear of harming myself.

It's getting more difficult to find or generate good covers...

Ah, but if you're doing it seriously you'll want a good mixer and one of those fancy podcaster mics and ....

... an acoustic treatment enclosure.

Much more fun to DIY though. Prop a bunch of cushions up or staple some bunched, heavyish scrap curtain material to the inside of an unfolded cereal box, and position the mic/phone inside.

It looks daft, but reducing reflections will make the sound pro. That's the ticket.

If every story starts this way...

I don't think anyone would advocate starting every story the same! I certainly don't do that.

The point is that there's more than one way to tell a story, and thinking about character development, structure, dialogue and narrative flow can make things more interesting to the reader than 2000 words of world-building before anything happens.

All excellent points, Nisha. If you don't mind, I'll hijack this thread to offer one further technique.

As well as character / motivation mentioned above, one other element that can take writing to the next level is the story structure.

Stories do not have to be told linearly.

Unless you're writing for Disney, the "once upon a time..." approach is often not the most appropriate for engagement. Don't be afraid to experiment. Perhaps start in the middle of some action and then reel out to give context (consider how Tarantino does this in Reservoir Dogs). Weave backstory elements into how the characters interact.

Does one person hesitate when about to spank someone else? That can be used to delve into the reason why. E.g. A negative previous experience. Fear of rejection. Timidness they're trying to overcome. This doesn't have to be front-loaded.

Such exploration gives characters more depth, allows you to provide context for the situation and people's motives, and provides a brief pause in the action to build anticipation.

Starting a story with something dramatic, like a smashing plate or an argument, immediately draws readers in. They want to know why, so you can then expand upon how the situation developed. Use flashbacks or moments of contemplation or dialogue in the heat of the moment to keep the story moving.

If you have a bunch of story beats in your head when you start, play with them. Chuck them up in the air and put them in a different order, then find a way to connect them and keep the flow intact and logical so readers can still follow it all.

There are a zillion ways to add drama, tension and intrigue to Tab A goes in Slot B. Mix things up and have fun.

The home page seems to carry 10 stories. To read more than those one has to press the ‘more stories’ button, wait for the reload and then scroll down from the top again. I’m accessing via an iPhone 11.

You could bookmark the stories page instead. Save yourself a tap. Pretty sure Safari on the iPhone 11 has the bookmark feature.

Exactly what JAGYK says.

As I mentioned in another thread recently, stories don't have to be linear to give context. You can start with something that grabs readers' attention and then fold in other backstory elements as you develop the ideas.

Characters could discuss something that happened beforehand—perhaps even during sex—which gives them roundedness. Or you could flashback, or have moments of contemplation as a character is about to do something but it had an undesirable outcome before.

Play with structure and form to keep a story moving forward. Mix things up a bit. As long as each part flows, your readers will stick around for the duration and be more invested in your characters overcoming their various demons or obstacles as they get it on (or work towards that goal).
