I voted no because to me all the basic sex actions are covered, to me workplace sex is a tag. Unless there's a literary need, I don't think additional categories are needed.

I tend to agree with this.

Categories should cover the basic sex actions and tags are there to define more narrowly the type of sex action.

So........ It's alright everyone commenting on it, but nothing gets done. Who is responsible for running the site? The Mods do a good job, but I don't suppose the have much of a hand in the actual mechanics of it. Who is/are the manager/s/Owners? Is it such a difficult job to put the clock right and set it to GMT?

Posted at 9.23am

Why is it so important to have it set to GMT?

If, when you post, it shows a posted time of 12.00pm and you are fastidious enough to want to know the GMT time you just take 2 hours off it and hey presto you have the GMT posting time of 10.00am.

Personally, when I post anything here I am not interested in the time shown and I am sure the majority are not interested either.

BST...EST...GMT all irrelevant to me!

They don't even try to make it look real because one person in a hundred fall for it anyway.

Incredible but true

They stand out like a sore thumb but as you say, you only need one in a hundred to send you $3,000. Not a bad return hey

On those odds 10,000 emails and you could retire to the Bahamas.

Its Health and fitness forum so I posted so that all my friends on lush understand to have safe sex...and enjoy the sex for through out their lives...

those who want to learn and accept it they will...!!Others just ignore...

I can see your point from the safe sex angle but I am sure that the majority of people that come here are aware of and practice safe sex.

Your opening post was very vague and your post regarding the research is very alarmist and contains bias. It is almost as if these so called researchers are telling us all not to have oral sex because it is dangerous. Sorry, but oral sex, practised safely, is a very enjoyable experience and in truth you are probably more likely to do yourself an injury getting into position to perform oral sex than contract any of those diseases you mention.

I was wondering if there was an unwritten rule that you shouldn't?

In case subconsciously it can affect your own work.

Ah, I see.

I suppose that it depends on the type of person you are. I daresay that for a novice then, yes, it could be intimidating reading stories by more experienced writers. If that is the case then don't. Master your own craft first.

For all who wants explanation...

For MEN :

This sexually transmitted virus is more dangerous than all others: it can spread through anal and oral sex, and cause cancer in all it touches, from cervical (uterus) cancer in women to anal and oral cancer in both men and women. The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes now as many cancers of the upper throat as tobacco and alcohol, being correlated to a boost in oral sex practice and the decreasing number of smokers.

HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer, which affects around 12,000
women annually in U.S. alone. Mild strains of the virus cause genital warts, but other strains can cause from penile to anal and throat cancer; yet male cases are not given as much attention as in the case of cervical cancer.

Human papilloma virus (HPV)

However, in this century a new and serious concern about oral sex has emerged.

You're probably aware that there is a very widespread virus called human papilloma virus (HPV). It causes cancer of the cervix, cancer of the anus and some other benign and malignant growths – including genital warts. There have even been suggestions in 2013 that it might be a cause of some cases of lung cancer.

For Women :
Oral sex is good for women's health and makes you feel happier, according to a study which studied the effects of semen's 'mood-altering chemicals'.

The State University of New York study - which scientists carried out via survey rather than through practical experiment - compared the sex lives of 293 females to their mental health.

It follows research which shows that seminal fluid contains chemicals that elevate mood, increase affection, induce sleep and also contain at least three anti-depressants.

The researchers also claim that women who have regular unprotected sex are less depressed and perform better on cognitive tests.

Semen contains another of chemicals along with spermatozoa, including cortisol, which is known to increase affection, estrone, which elevates mood and oxytocin, which also elevates mood.

It also contains thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent), and even serotonin (perhaps the best-known antidepressant neurotransmitter).

Given these ingredients - and this is just a small sample of the mind-altering 'drugs' found in human semen - Researchers Gallup and Burch, along with the psychologist Steven Platek, hypothesised that women having unprotected sex should be less depressed than suitable control participants.

This century is becoming renown for busybodies, using the guise of Research, to find something that can either kill us or is bad for us. According to research practically everything we eat and drink is bad for us. And there are number crunchers who can put to together statistics to prove it.

I am not decrying your bringing this to our attention but does it have any relevance? Who on earth is going to get into the situation of enjoying oral sex and suddenly start thinking about the State University of New York study? Are people really going to start thinking about the ingredients of body fluids when the opportunity for oral sex arises? I think not. Also, how much did this study cost the US taxpayer? I am sure the money could have been better spent elsewhere.

The human race will continue to enjoy copious amounts of oral sex and survive, believe me. It has since the days of Adam and Eve!

Do authors ever read other entries before they submit their own?

If they do:

a) Has it ever put you off submitting your story because of the quality of the other competitors?

Or

b) Inspired you to enter when you had no real intention of doing so.

Is there an etiquette with regard to this?

I don't enter many competitions but I do read lots of other stories and I follow a few authors. I would never let the quality of their stories put me off submitting my own because I don't write with the specific object of winning. I take pleasure in writing and if others judge them to be good then fine.

As for inspiration, yes, there are lots of good authors here and they do inspire me.

Etiquette? Not sure what you mean here.

Loving Elbow right now. Are they a Manchester band? Forgive me if they're not.

From Bury. Which is part of Greater Manchester.
Best band has to be Oasis but there are many other notable bands that have shaped music culture. Bands like The Hollies, The Bee Gees, Herman's Hermits, Wayne Fontana, Freddie and The Dreamers, Joy Division and New Order. Begrudgingly you have to include The Smiths. I say begrudgingly because the guy's a complete jerk.
High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I started the year with a resolution to get my first ebook published. I need 100 stories and so far have got around 85. Some earlier ones will need re-editing but no probs there. I have around 50 partly written stories and another 20 or so in the ideas stage.

Hopefully I will be finished around September/October.

Dress professionally. Arrive a little early. Maintain eye contact with your interviewers. Do some research on the company before your interview so that you can ask some intelligent questions, as is usual at the end of the interview. Don't say trite things like "I am a people person." Be ready to back up your abilities with examples of how you used them successfully for your employers. Listen carefully.

This

And....

1. Keep your CV brief and to the point. Employers hate reading detailed job descriptions. It is boring and timewasting. We already know the responsibilities and we will go into detail during the interview.

2. Be honest. Employers use Google too and also do there own checks.

3. Don't waffle or babble on

Oh.. She is more than legal age, but it was justthe kind of stories she read...

If she is reading stories from here then you know that she is reading things that at least are legal. There are sites around that have some horrendous stuff on. So take comfort from that.

It may be uncomfortable having your grown up child sharing the site you are a member of but she is an adult and she has the same freedoms and rights as you have. In your situation I would perhaps mention the discovery of the internet history and just advise her to be careful with forming relationships and giving out personal information about herself.

I see where you're coming from, and if it were you and I, in a more or less normal workplace, I'd agree with your point. But the reality is that in the world of big-time professional American sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), being gay is still a barrier to entry, much like women or blacks have had to endure in other industries or executive strata in the past. Unfortunately the issue must be laid bare, publicly, so that in the future it won't have to be. Staying quiet doesn't neutralize homophobia, it enables and prolongs it.

Yes, I suppose that here in the UK we lead pretty much relaxed lives when compared with the USA for example. And I take your point that these barriers need to be broken down.

There are lots of openly gay people living very normal lives all over the Bible Belt and many regularly attend church themselves.

I am sure that there is. As a former member of a Baptist Church I am well aware of the fire and brimstone messages poured out every Sunday and I also know that the loudest voices were usually the biggest hypocrites!.

So you want us all back in the closet?
What exactly is parading my sexuality? Kissing a man in public or holding hands? Neither would bring any reaction if it were a straight couple and not much if it were 2 girls! Men on the other hand could expect, at best, a few choice comments or, at worst, violence. Do you want us to ignore those too? Will that help "the cause"?
Your comments could even be construed as homophobic and I knox you didn't mean them to be.
When 2 gay guys can walk down Main Street, hand in hand, in a town in the Bible Belt USA, without drawing any negative comments, then and only then, will news like this cease to be news.

Certainly not!

What I am talking about, and what my original comment was about, is publicising your sexuality via the media. I don't see the need for it. It is no one else's business and coming out publicly just polarizes opinions. I have gay friends and colleagues and they live their lives just like heterosexual couples do. They don't hide their sexuality but neither do they make a song and dance about.

As for the US Bible Belt..... well that lot are against formication of any kind and would have us all stoned if they could. They will always be around as will people who have opposing views about gay people. As I have said, ignoring them is the better than using publicity to stir them up.

It's really easy for those of us who exist wholly outside an environment of traditional homophobic persecution to roll our eyes and act like he's being an attention whore. He's not. He's a groundbreaker. It's sad that we live in a world where disclosure of sexual preference passes for news, but in his case, as a prospective professional football player, it absolutely is.

To argue differently is to be complicit with the don't ask/don't tell status quo, which by default shames gays into staying silenced. I, for one, would never wish for people of any orientation to have to stay silent.

I take your point.

Perhaps I am old fashioned but my view is that what people do in the privacy of their own homes, as long as it is legal, is their own business. Whether it is two guys, two girls or even two couples they have the right to sexual freedom. What I dislike is when people parade their sexuality. I think it is distasteful and attracts the wrong kind of attention.

I think the best way to deal with the homophobic brigade is to ignore them. Get on with your life in private and pay no attention. I always find that when you ignore your detractors it not only annoys the hell out of them but they also leave you alone in the end. Entering into some kind of dialogue with these idiots just attracts more attention to their cause.
I can still remember the time when television was entertaining. A good mixture of film, drama, comedy, sport, family shows, current affairs etc., etc., Now it's mainly talent and reality shows of one form or another. Terrestrial TV is absolutely boring. Not just boring but mind dumbing!

I think it says much about society today; instant gratification without having to think or put work into it. I would like to see the UK version taken off air as well. I haven't watched it for years. It was never entertaining watching judges ridicule people who clearly can't sing and share a brain cell with the whole family. Or hearing people who had a half decent voice spoil it all with a sob story about how they are doing it to make their granny's cat proud.

Even if they did take it off they would replace it with something as equally banal. Thank God for Sky TV at least we can go back and watch programmes that were truly entertaining.
Woody Allen.

I only have to see his face on TV and I reach for the remote. The most overrated actor in the history of Film.
Yet another Sports 'Celebrity' seeking publicity by 'coming out'.

Why don't they just 'stay in' and keep their sexuality to themselves...
I always have an idea in mind. Sometimes I may just have the broad outline of where I want to go but mostly I have the whole story ready just to pour out.
Never really been interested in winter Olympic events so I will be watching very little of it. Not happy either that is was held in Russia. I don't like Putin and don't like there stance on Gays. Also. I have a funny feeling about a terrorist attack there. Hope I am wrong but....
Congrats, not just to the winner, but to all who took part. There is an amazing wealth of talent here at Lush and this must have been a very difficult competition to judge.
