The Brazilian music channel on Pandora
win, lose, draw, it's been fun.
As a newcomer to competitive writing, how IS the winner selected? It sounds as if all the mods get in a bar somewhere and hash it out. Is that about right?
Oh, and one slight bitch; it seems slightly unfair that during the competition competitive entries are highlighted as "story picks". Kind of hints at institutional bias. Not a big deal, just throwing it out there.
I'm with what Steph said earlier, I'm having a lot of fun as the competition goes on and some of the stories get entered. I love "the Blue Dress" and might have passed it by if it weren't in the competition. After reading her latest poem, I'm scared shitless of Averageblackgirl's entry. Steph, save me a seat at that bar.....

7. I experimented with bisexuality in my youth and on lush and decided I like women better than men.
8. I avoid drama like it is fire.
9. I like dirty pictures but not the kind that reminds me of my open heart surgeries.
I've found a couple "water music" channels on Pandora that works for my purposes. I call it a nap though, not meditation.
These days I'm hitting sparkling water pretty hard.....lol.
When I was younger I had several black lovers. I enjoyed them a lot and the feeling was mutual. I married a Puerto Rican who tanned up during the summer. So.....
Would a story of a modern day descendant of the Greek God Pan be considered a viable candidate for this category?
Some good advice above. My only advice is try not to picture how to please the reader too much, rather write it the way you think you would enjoy reading it if you weren't the author. In other words, please yourself first. But, ask a friend who you admire if they would read it and give you feedback on it or even editing help. Good luck.
Before the interview is over, ask for the job. Twice. In your own words. And with sincerity. I'm always amazed when interview subjects don't ask for the job. And most don't.
You always pay for sex....lol.
lol, Nicola. A good thread and a good discussion. There's some good writing here, and there's some writing that I don't consider that good. But I get to decide which is which. If I feel strongly positive, I score it and sometimes leave a comment. If I don't like it, I don't score it, as I know how much a low score hurts the writer's feelings. I'm not here to hurt anyone's feelings. I just like dirty pictures and well written erotica that makes me breath faster. To each his own.
"If she's amazing, she won't be easy. If she's easy, she won't be amazing. If she's worth it, you wont give up. If you give up, you're not worthy. ... Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for."
