I'll have a large tea, please - milk no sugar. Got work to do in the morning and if I start on the good stuff now, it ain't gonna get done.

God, I love him. I remember stumbling upon "White Jazz" at the library (what a perfect title) and then going back to read the rest of the L A Quartet (yeah, I know, I fucked up reading the last book first), and then went on to blow through everything he'd ever written.

His appearances on Letterman were wonderfully bizarre too.

White Jazz was breathtaking, as is the Black Dahlia, although my favourite of the original "LA Quartet" remains LA Confidential (and the film was spectacular). The only one in the series that was a let down for me was The Big Nowhere; and unfortunately, his "Second LA Quartet" is shaping up to be a slight disappointment - the first in the series, Perfidia, is nowhere near as good as his older works.

On an aside, Ellroy's "Underworld USA" trilogy is equally as good and as murky as his LA based stuff. smile

Bloody brilliant! smile

I'm re-reading the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell. Magnificently swash-buckling!

I read the Sharpe series a few years back, and thoroughly enjoyed them all! Even better than the Sean Bean series!

I think your avatar is awesome. I could watch it all day.

Ha-ha! Thank you - I was thinking of retiring the pair of them, but perhaps I'll keep hold of them a while longer!
James Ellroy's "The Black Dahlia". Yet again. For about the third time this year... (yeah, some might call it an addiction, but what are you gonna do?)

Couldn't have put it any better myself....
Opeth - "The Drapery Falls". An old metal classic, and one of my favourite tunes to put on and just drift off to....

Nice one, fam! Can't think of anyone on the site more deserving of the awesome award than you! (Mine's been lost in the post, obviously, since we both know how awesome I am!)

I slept with a co-worker who was engaged and living with her partner at the time. He worked really early shifts, so she'd sneak out after he'd left - like 5.30, 6 am - and come round to mine and we'd fuck before going into work, and then usually stay late and fuck in the office before she went home. Crazy time... smile
Sorry that I've hurt people I care about, sad that I can't be with people I care about, and happy that I'm here to think about those people, whether they know it or not.
She trembled as he whispered those three little words: "let's be quick."
Never lost it. I kept hold of it safe, in a jar on my mantlepiece. Never had much use for it, mind; but it's a great conversation starter.
Haha, yes! Many years ago, I worked in the same office as a girl I was seeing. We fucked on her desk, my desk, and our boss's desk. Was definitely worth the risk of getting caught!
From reading his profile, sounds like he'd have some fascinating conversation, so yeah - I'll buy him a cup of coffee or two, just to listen!

Great film! Loved Michael Keaton's performance!

Um, for me it's Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I absolutely loved the first one, and can't wait to see the sequel. smile
Of course, apostrophes matter! But then, good grammar and spelling in general is important, particularly for anyone aspiring to be a writer. Think of it as the difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse; and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Don't be that writer.

Unfortunately, I am that writer...

I have a habit of editing as I go along, which often leads me to writing, re-writing, and re-writing whole paragraphs, sentences - even words. It's a bugger and I know I shouldn't do it, but I can't seem to help myself. I'm striving for perfection from the get-go, even though I know that even the best writers in the world don't get it right from the start and have to draft and re-draft.

Although, I do agree that some time spent away from a story can be a really good thing. I have a short story that I often return to when I have writer's block, and which has been through around seven versions so far. Each one is, in my opinion, better than the last. I think that, as an exercise in getting a writer to write, and also in seeing how your skills have improved over time, re-visiting and re-working old stories can be quite beneficial.
(looks around) -- "Is it my birthday already? And how did you know it was exactly what I wanted?!"
Would I sell my soul? Nah. But if you want, you can rent it for a little while. Just beware the fine print regards wear and tear, and mileage....
Not so much the tit fucking, but I do like to cum there. Mind you, I like to cum anywhere I can...
If it's the right woman, then I'm happy to eat as much pussy as she'll let me. Got to be the right woman, though - and shaved too. Pubes are a definite no-no if I'm eating out..
Walked in on them? No. Got 'accidentally' texted a video of her fucking her best friend's partner? Yes.
It all depends on personal preference, I guess - but on the whole I'd say 1st person. It's a bit more forgiving on the 'show don't tell aspect' (you can get away with a bit more, since the narrator can 'tell' the story a bit more. Personally, I always start 1st person and then try and rewrite parts in 3rd person and see what works best.
There's a part of me that knows this is a secret fantasy I've had for a long time. In reality, I'm not sure I could handle it - fantasies don't have to cope with emotions after all. So no, I don't think I could.
