I know they have done it in their youth, but now confine that activity to the three of them in our FWB group solely.
Yeah, right!
While the cat's away, or should that be pussy.

You have a point, up to a point. "...without fear of comeback" doesn't mean "...without fear of criticism," does it? I agree that "You are an idiot who should have been aborted" is an unreasonable response to a complaint. (As is "F you, A-hole" and all its variants.)
However, if a comment makes the implicit claim that "You'd be nothing without us," I think it's well within bounds to ask what the commentator brings to the party.
And beyond that, if a comment carries the message, "Give in to my demands or I'll go away," then I think it's an entirely reasonable response to say, "Go!" don't you?

You're right, it doesn't affect me. Why? I supported this site when I first joined, so much so, I was made moderator. So its my free time that I volunteer to help the site stay clean and free from all the nasty pieces of work out there. And as a bi product, making people pay for certain privileges is one way of weeding them out. Trust me, there are plenty.

The ability to talk to your friends is a right. The ability to talk to your friends using a resource provided by someone else for free is not.
What is "wrong" is the presumption that Lush has an obligation to provide free services to all comers, forever.
If you think the provision of a free, loosely-moderated space for strangers to use for their own pleasure is such a wonderful idea, do it yourself. I'm sure you'll find lots of people who will happily take advantage of your service.

Careful, you did a whole lot of quoting in this thread, as you so on others. Most of which expressed a different POV than you, or said something you didn't like or agree with. Just saying.

With all due respect DPW, you would have no clue how many accounts are active or inactive. You're guessing to try to make a point. You are speculating. Do you think, that with all the down time lush has had over the last year, inactive accounts would be the first things deleted to take stress off the servers? I don't know that for a fact either but I think it is a logic and reasonable assumption.

Let me see if I have this right:
1. You've been here 18 months
2. You've submitted no stories
3. You've posted 30 comments in forums, including the last three that object to the fee changes
4. You're going to bring Lush and Nicola to their knees by leaving
As far as I can tell, all you've done here is take what's been given to you for nothing. I don't see any part of Lush that you've helped build or support.
What will you take with you that anyone will miss?

Ok, I know it costs money to run this site, but lets do some basic math on this. There are over 250,000 people on here now. For the sake of argument, lets say that just half of them purchase a membership at the minimum $10. That's 1.25 Million a year in membership fees. Didn't realize that it would cost that much to run a website.
