Over the weekend, my wife love and best friend for half a century, left us softly, in her sleep, after a five year struggle with dementia.
Thanks to all with a special HUG for Cyn for all the friendship, support and for just being there. I'll be around but probably not as loudly for awhile.
Later, Rumplators

You know, this goes a whole easier when you have a national election agency running federal elections as we do here in the Great White North. Rules are the same across the country, voting times are consistent (with some allowances for time zones). The closest we come to a contested election is a minority government. Court proceedings related to elections tend to be limited to cases of the rules being broken by candidates.
Provinces have election agencies, too, but they only run provincial and municipal elections. And they get their voters lists from the feds.
And here's the best part. To register to vote? You tick a box on your income tax return that allows CRA to share your address and other "tombstone" data with Elections Canada. And if you move or something and an election comes up before you change your address with CRA, you contact Elections Canada (or the relevant provincial authority if it is a provincial or municipal vote) in your new riding or just show up at a poll and there's a process to get you added. My son had no issues when he moved to Ottawa even though he still lists us as his permanent address and we have had elections at all three levels since he moved. None of the bullshit we hear about down there.
Anyhow, pour me a white wine, preferably from California. I shall toast my American friends patience and perseverance as they wait for an end to their election.

Hello and welcome James. Like Scott/Seeker I spend my time divided between here and there.
The weather is quite beautiful at the moment. Coincidentally all three of my grown sons and their significant others are camping this weekend. Not together and each in a different state.
My other half and I are going to start looking at other places to live. Eventually, we need to get out of the DC metro area. Too much congestion and too expensive. Going to check out the
northern neck of Virginia tomorrow. My dream is to live on the water somewhere so we can have access to our boat whenever we'd like and not have to drive to it.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
It's five so I'll have a beer, please.
Cheers!

I know, I'm really late to the party on this one.
So I've been gushing about this show on another thread as I've been binge-ing it, but I just finished up Justified, and it's definately on my top ten of favorite TV series. The source material is the great Elmore Leonard, and they keep the tone of his writing and ear for dialogue.
Mostly it's the villains that make it work. It was a great parade of actors playing the villains--Walton Groggins (what a great name), Ron Eldard, Michael Rappaport (who was good even with a shitty accent), Sam Elliot yadayadayada--but it was also great writing, creating real three dimensional characters. An INCREDIBLY high body count. Timothy Elephant (sorry) was perfectly charming as Raylan Givens. And I liked that Raylan really was kind of trigger-happy, and made a few questionable decisions. The biggest achievement of the show was the character of Boyd Crowder, and the performance of Walton Groggins. Great writing, great acting.

Do you have your laser ready? Because I'd be happy AF if you lasered up that story stealing twatasaurus like the laser wielding Ms Jesus baby we both know you are![]()
Not much to rage about really
Other than the fact that my in laws are trying to worm their way back into my life
and I am not having it. Sorry but when you treat me like trash while I am dating you son
Then have the nerve to wear black to our wedding and invite your friends to do the same like its a funeral
then you tell me things like I deserve to die and you hope one day I kill myself
then to top it off you back into my fucking car then refuse to pay.. Yeah I have no need for you in my life.
You don't like me and I don't like you.. So don't fucking bother talking to me because you won't like what I have to say.
Ps it turns out I had some stuff to vent about

I noticed Ping was gone a few days ago, I had a message from him but didn't see until he was already gone
honestly? I've debated deleting for a few months now and Ping actually talked me out of it along with Larry
So I'm pretty sad that he is gone..He's been one of my biggest writing inspirations here...I hope he comes back
because it won't be the same without him.
