It's probably because of those wide tires. It was snowing at night when I was coming home from work when I saw a sports car in front of me having all kinds of difficulty climbing a hill (it wasn't even that steep). I passed by him with no difficulty at all in my little old Toyota with thin tires and I had to drive around him. The wider tires do not work very well in snow.
