Her thinking--and I agree--is that the stories are all about contrast: loving vs. brutal, dirty vs. sweet, love vs. lust, objectified vs. connected. That the sex is wild but the tone of the writing is very conntrolled. So the Serious and the Moonlight should be very different fonts, to refect that (it also reflects their personalities).

EDIT: Wait, you were talking about Serious and Business, not Moonlight. That makes sense. Duh.

I agree about the color of the #1.

I like the overlappping "g."

There is no shadow, that's all hair. No eyes, no nose.

That was helpful. Your cover looks great. What fonts did you use? Where was the text?

I hadn't thought about the fonts thematically, but that is super awesome and makes a ton of sense. Really, great idea by you/designer.

Yeah, I eventually figured out it was supposed to be hair, not a shadow. It confused me at first, but it still looks cool. I would probably try to emphasize that it's hair, but as is, it still looks pretty great.

Here is the full cover with the shadow thing I was talking about. I used a sci-fi font called Anurati, which I downloaded for free. I always use Gill Sans MT Regular for my name and add a bit of kerning to get that spacing effect. I like to do genre or thematic stuff with the font of the titles. I download all my fonts for free. I have a bunch of horror movie ones I'll show you sometime.

I started playing around in GIMP this summer and have watched a few tutorials. I'm an amateur, but I wanted to get some practice making covers and it's a lot of fun. These are probably the two I like the best. They aren't completely designed to look like book covers, but I still think it's nicer than slapping up a generic erotic picture with the default author info. I use depositphotos as well and just edit things a bit, messing around with gradients, shading, blending solid backgrounds into the photo, fonts and spacing. Stuff like that.

I can't afford to pay a designer (or have enough completed work) presently, but I'm hoping to get there eventually and do a similar push on Amazon.

This one is just in time for Halloween:

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/fantasy-scifi/insomnia.aspx

I don't normally frequent this section of the forum too often, but this story is fantastic. I hope it gains a bit more traction.

I haven't posted many stories yet, but I have 2 horror short stories and a novella length horror/suspense hybrid in progress. I absolutely love to read the genre. It seems to be a small niche here, but it seems like it has been picking up steam recently. I haven't been here long enough to tell if it's just because of Halloween, or if it is actually gaining in popularity. I'm also biased because most of my friends are drawn to similar stuff as me. Maybe this was just a one-off Halloween event, but I'd love to see more horror stuff from you because you handle the genre really well.

Vanessa26 and Mollydoll have a great ongoing horror series about a succubus (linked in my forum sig). And Verbal has an awesome non-erotic flash horror series on the sister site. I get so excited to see stuff like this and I'm glad that you're back writing again. I'll mention your story to a few of my friends who I think will enjoy it.

Welcome back to writing. I hope you stick around.
I like it a lot and think it’s very well-designed. I’m good at nitpicking though so here are a few that you may consider.

1) Bottom half looks awesome. I wouldn’t change a thing.

2)I would change the “Business Casual” font to match the “Serious” font. There are four fonts used, which is too busy imo.

3) The coloring of “#1” should match the red used for “Moonlight” and be a bit larger.

4) I agree with you that the red should be a few shades darker so that it pops more.

5) Space “Moonlight” so that the bottom of the “g” isn’t overlapping “Business Casual.”

6) I agree with the designer that “Serious Moonlight” should be larger than “Business Casual” for the reasons you stated above.

7) I would probably put the “#1” on the same line of “Business Casual” rather than next to “Moonlight” though.

8) I think the shadow comes down too far over her face. I would bring it up a bit so that it gradually fades in and you can see part of the bottom of her nose (like an actual shadow would). I really like the inky-looking, asymmetrical feathering at the end of the shadow though. Alternatively, if it's supposed to be hair, rather than a shadow, I would lighten it a bit so that you can tell it's mostly hair. Hopefully, that made sense.

Number 8 is more of a personal preference. Here is one of my covers so you can see what I’m talking about with the shadow and how it fades in.

Good luck!

Is yours?

A leading question like that deserves an equally leading reply.

Booze. I need booze, please. Two years ago we had almost 400 kids begging for salt & sugar. This year, we are closing shop so I can T 'n T with the kids. Yes, it will be... oh hell... dynamite.

Hmm, I don’t know. I’ll have to see where the night leads.

I’m going to check out Veronica soon. I couldn’t remember the name of it, but I remembered you mentioning it. I really like Dan Stevens and Gareth Evans so I ending up watching The Apostle last night. It was decent, but a bit of a letdown because I had high expectations.

I’m craving some booze too and getting nothing down at work today (as evidenced by my many forum posts). I’m going to meet up with some friends and family to take my niece trick ‘r treating later. Are you still going as left testicle? Or did your son figure out his costume?

Tragedy and disaster earn RRs? Sounds like the fake advice I posted in that joke thread a while back. From the man himself.

As for more badges on the site that, when spelled backward, is eulb, I love comments, I love RRs (which I assume I will never get there), I treasure the elusive EP, but badges just don't do it for me. I rarely even notice when one has been added.

It really is a fantastic gif.

You have to let me know what you think once you get through episode 5. The Bent-Neck lady is my favorite.

I like badges a lot, even if I don't have many yet. I actually got my first RR badge a few days ago on the site of the hue-rhyming hue. It was a nice consolation prize since I didn't make the top-12 finalists. They gave a bunch out for the comp stories though. I have no idea how none of your horror flash has gotten a RR.

Quote by Ping
Keep the contests going, and fix the damn badge numbers. Those are the only two things that NEED to be addressed. Everything else is easy peasy, lemon squeezy minor shit.

Gunna be a fun night tonight! Will be putting on 10,000 + steps on the old iPhone walk-o-meter with kids. Will need to do so, so I can raid their stash after then go to sleep. Did you know that Kit Kat has over 400 flavors in Japan? Crazy shit like that makes me want to visit even more.

I think they could be a potential cash-alternative for contests over there, perhaps, especially if they had a clever title or something. I really like the recent changes to the comp badges here.

Guess its my turn to get Bertha up and running. What could go wrong? I brought some maple syrup to sweeten the pot.

Mr Rump, thanx to you and Tawny for the arduous search for the "armadillo." Its also nice in coffee.

The next Comp sounds like something special, probably has to have some linkage to Canada.

I was blown away when I first tried authentic Canadian maple syrup. It's so much better than the crap we have in the states. Doesn't seem that weird to put it in coffee in lieu of cream or sugar. Tea, however, no way. When I've spent time in the South, I've seen people put butter in their coffee. Yuck.

I'll try a spoonful of Lyf's maple syrup and a shot of Beaver Lick Bourbon in my coffee. I am the self-styled Mistress of Mayhem, after all.

I could go for a Halloween muffin as well. Thanks, Tonya.

Hope everyone has a fun day.
I really need to know what the next contest theme is. Given my track record, I probably will have a cool idea for the theme and then not finish it in time anyway, but this teasing is killing me.

This is how I imagine all the admin/mods right now who are sitting on that info.

Why must you delight in the suffering of the masses? When can we expect an announcement?

Ok, I'm done ranting. I'll take a dark beer, por favor.
Congrats on six years, Scott!

And Gil is back! Yay, I hope you're feeling better. I've missed seeing you around.

Writing has been slow this week, and I haven't had much time to work on my long story. I actually spent a couple hours on a sonnet, which I may post soon. I've always wanted to write one, but I never knew how. Figuring out how to write in iambic pentameter was a fun little challenge.

I also started The Haunting of Hill House this weekend and binged the first six episodes. I've been loving it so far. Highly recommended if you can stomach some terror (and sadness). The pacing so far has been fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen creepiness, plot, and character development juggled this well in a horror show.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I could use a glass (or several) of wine.

Gosh, I love American Psycho not as much as I do the movie because Christian Bale really makes in 100 times better than it probably would have been without him

The book I found interesting, the way he wrote was a bit strange and little off key, Definately not following any rules of writing, which I quite like.

You finished it?

The movie is great. Christian Bale is incredible for sure. Side note: There is a sequel (which you've probably seen, knowing you) with Mila Kunis as the killer. It's laughably bad in the best possible way.

I couldn't overcome the monotony of it all. It felt like there were endless clothing descriptions every other page. I understand that some of that is necessary to flesh out his character, but sometimes, it's better to get straight to the point. Too many details, imo.

It's well-written, and I usually like strange, off-key writing as well, but in this case, I didn't find it enjoyable.
I haven't read very many of the more difficult classics. I don't need to attempt stuff like Finnegan's Wake or Ulysses to know that they aren't for me. I've only had three that I had to put down.

Silas Marner by George Eliot - This book is the worst. I used CliffNotes to get through it. It's incredibly dull and boring.

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis - I really liked the movie and wanted to read something controversial and challenging. It was very banal and tedious, even with the occasional graphic murder.

Quote by Green_Man
The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien (tedious and boring)

This is on my list and I agree. The world Tolkien created is incredible, no doubt, but after reading the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, this just didn't do it for me.

Greetings, fellow travelers through Lush Land.

Let me share a thought or two about Stories Space and Maggie Rascal, the site's admin.. IMO, if not for Maggie, SS would already have been closed and so far, I've heard of no one anxious to take over that thankless, voluntary challenge.

Why the hell this Blue and Red issue is a burr under her saddle is beyond me...but that's the situation.

The two of us have disagreed on several issues over the years such as: use of the 'N' word in a story featuring the KKK, a pillow talk scene that, iho, was too explicit, and rewording submission w/o consulting the authors. Now here comes the Red and the Blue. (sigh)

For me, the positives of keeping SS going outweighs Maggie's rigid opinions and actions. So I'll hang around if, for no other reasons than to find out what happens next and to read some good stories.
eta -
And Sccott, your response was pithy, to the point, and pitch perfect

Thank you for sharing this, Rump. I didn't know much about Maggie, so this was very informative to me. I have used the color terminology quite a bit, but I didn't find her request unreasonable once she listened to the feedback you and Scott provided and publicly revised/toned down the language. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but if I had been on both sites for years, like many of you have, I might have been irritated. I'm really going to try to abide by her request, but there's a chance that I'll forget in a month or so and do it anyway.

While her fundamental reasoning is fine, I can't help but wonder what story the data would tell regarding the numbers/percentage/age of users that are "led astray" after catching wind of our smutty predilections over here. It seems, imo, like there is one contingent that would rather find new readers/authors that are not associated with Lush, while many of us here, encourage migration to help boost votes/comments/views.

That aside, I still found myself sympathizing with her (much more than I would have expected) because I think she's doing what she genuinely believes is best for the site. I actually left a positive post in that thread and tried to throw some encouragement her way because I was impressed that she listened to the community's feedback (see: you and Scott) pretty well and revised her stance. In that same vein, I think it's very classy of you to acknowledge how difficult and thankless her job is, giving credit where credit is due, even though you don't see eye to eye on a number of things.

I am glad to see Scott and Bill state their cases so eloquently over on the word-that-rhymes-with-clue site. I thought the decison controlling, officious and a little moralistic, though I do understand the reasoning behind it. Thanks you two, for getting her to soften her tone. I'm a bit of a newbie there, so won't add my two cents. I don't really do the Forums there (execpt for the thread where everyone but me was saying that foul language has no place in writing or in speech, which seems about par for the course).

It's a good site, with good writing.

Oh my God. That thread made me laugh so hard, but was also a bit upsetting for reasons I can't quite articulate. My post in the aforementioned thread may have come off with a bit of an asskissing vibe to those who don't know me, so I had to balance it out by ensuring that people know that I like the word "fuck" and use it from time to time. I cannot overstate how jarring it was to see people bashing Westworld and stand-up comedians for the use of foul language. They needed another dissenting opinion and I shared one of my favorite T-shirt quotes: "I'm an intelligent, classy, well-educated woman/mother who says fuck a lot."

No coffee for me thank you, und ya shouldn't have so much either I think. If ya do?

Caffeine ist structurally similar to Adenosine ya know, a chemical that makes ya sleepy.
When ya consume coffee, the caffeine binds to your brain's Adenosine receptors,
preventing the chemical from binding with it's own receptors, and this makes ya tired.
So ya have more coffee for the Adrenaline rush und to become more alert again, but that not last long.

Can anyone say Addiction?...smiles
Over-consumption also prevents Dopamine from being reabsorbed into your system,
leaving that chemical trapped in your brain tissue longer.
This causes long-term memory loss as it pickles those parts of your brain first...Slow death of your brain.

So no coffee thank you, I not have interest in forgetting someone's name I met at a party last month,
when all of my other friends remember them, or forgetting things from my classes last year either.

I eat too much chocolate for that anyway. At least chocolate helps with the horny mornings too,
und makes ya just as alert...smiles
I'll have a nice hot cup of Honey Bunch Herbal Tea if ya have it, or only one pony of warmed Pinot please?...smiles

Oh sorry...Enjoy your coffees...lol

Verbs, Tonya, Curvy, Julie et al,

Just finished watching Netflix's, Veronica, a Spanish horror movie, supposedly based on a true story. I'm curious if you or anyone else visiting the bar has seen it. After coming across this movie on a list of horror movies that people had difficulty finishing, I was intrigued.

As I said yesterday, I love foreign movies with English subtitles, with Amelie leading that charge. This movie is that. Plus, this movie also has a retro, Stranger Things feel to it too.

I have not seen it, but I'll check it out. I dig the Stranger Things vibe. The Haunting of Hill House is at the top of my list, currently.

Thanks Verbs, but I have a bone to pick with you.

I was in a pissy mood yesterday. Fuck the world, kinda thing. Saw you recommended a movie. I started watching the third season of Fargo, but I opted to watch, The Witch. Well, dude, not scary. Disturbing, in some cases. That opening sacrifice shocker, but I really found this movie dragged. Thinking of what was or could be happening was bothersome, but I never found it scary. Add a Great White Shark or a croc or a Funnel Web Spider or something, and then we have a movie. It might have been the context though. Pilgrims. Witches. Old Olde English. I'd rather watch a foreign film with subtitles. And no way, not with those horns. The were too curved back, if you know what I mean. Said so, right in the disclaimer. But the young girl was hot, inappropriately so. Even her little brother lusted for her. OMG. Do we assume he lost his virginity in the woods?

However, I am going to do something I have not ever done - watch a shit load of horror stuff for the Halloween season. I remember watching an Australian movie about some freak, in some remote area, that captured and tortured and killed travelers. I don't recall what it was called, but I remember that being scary. Plus, Australia is surrounded by Great White Sharks, so it made the movie scary-adjacent before I even started watching it.

***

Speaking of scary... WTF? I write, what I thought, was a scary little story, Under Taken. Posted an x-rated version here, and a clean version on blue. And then the comments came. Rump vs Seeker. Curvy and her giggles. And the flood of puns. PunnyGalore! Actually, that is what I absolutely love about interacting with readers. I like the comments, but I LOVE the banter. The reaction has been totally unexpected, and warmly embraced. Thanks to y'all that have read it. I hope Gill, Verbs, and Vanessa find the time to read it. I know they love the horror stuff. I wonder if they will get the giggles or shivers. Damn. I can hear Gill now. "I get those after reading anything you've written." Burn. Giggles and shivers usually prelude vomiting.

Barkeep, it's finally a beautiful day here. After weeks of snow-melt-wind-snow-melt-wind, we have a day above 10C forecast. Possibly 15C. Autumn missed us this year. Very sad. So, do you have anything drinky that reminds one of autumn colors?

Have A Great Day Everyone!

It's rare that I disagree with you, but I'm with V on this one. I thought The VVitch was fantastic. But I'll let him make the case if he wants to.

The Australian movie you're thinking of is Wolf Creek, and it's pretty good for a slasher-type of film.

I'm so desensitized to horror that not much actually "scares" me anymore. Did you watch season 2 of Castle Rock yet? There's a moment in episode 6 that gave me straight-up goosebumps. I physically shuddered. Gill and I have talked a bit about it and I made an image where I wrote a little thing about it. It probably won't make much sense unless you've seen the episode, but I posted it on my blog.

I thought Under Taken was a great horror story. I didn't laugh until I started reading the comments. Definitely the most fun I've had in the story comments since Melissaphilia. I don't think I'll ever forget the legendary phrase, "Billy, the tarantula is preparing to bite your dick." I was late to that party though.

Vanessa and Mollydoll have an awesome ongoing horror series and they just released part 3. It's another good option for anyone is looking for some Halloween reading.

A coffee for me, please.

She's not very good in Fifty Shades. I agree with you there, but I think that's because the script is terrible ("What's a buttplug?") and she doesn't like Jamie Dornan. Hard to have on-screen chemistry with a co-worker you can't stand.

I'll be watching the Georgia-LSU game on TV with a bunch of Dawg friends. I do know that the Dawgnation has shown up in Louisianna in huge numbers, hoping to get tickets. In the SEC, each school has to give 8,000 tickets to the visiting school to sell to its fans. Dawg fans gobbled those up immediately and want more. But LSU has a diehard, rabid fan base just like UGA and won't be giving their seats up to Dawg fans.

Baton Rouge has long been considered the most difficult place in all of college football for the visiting team to win a game. So. this one will probably be a knockdown, slobber knocker, SEC slugfest of a football game.

GO DAWGS!

Just a coffee please Mr Rumple sir. I have lots to do.

Some interesting remarks on commenting/voting. I never read/vote on Comp entries until after i submit mine to avoid inadvertent stealing or influence over what I'm writing. Of course I'm a notoriously late entrant, in fact i have a pile of unfinished stories intended for past Comps that i never had time to finish. So I'm not always that reliant for supporting my fellow writers. I do try to vote/comment on anyone who is a friend or has taken the time in the past to leave a comment on any of my stories. If i can i try to read all comp entries but depending on # of entries, length, my schedule this is sometimes difficult.

Huge thanx to all who voted/scored/commented on my last minute Comp entry. Very unexpected. Drinks are on me (my tab) tonight!

I’ll take a coffee for now and have a beer with you later, Lyf. Your story was awesome. I wouldn’t have been surprised to find out that you or one of your loved ones was deaf. Excellent job making it believable. Those are the kind of ideas I live for. I always try to do something new or unique in my own writing and I get a thrill when I read other authors making bold choices that work.

I'm a slow writer and I've missed the last 2 big contests. I'm still working on my Back to School and Summer Sizzler entries, which are at 12K and 5K words, respectively. They are the biggest ideas I've ever had though, and I'll eventually finish them. I'm itching to do some flash and poetry once I get those beasts out.

Thanks for accepting my friend request. One of the comments on your story inspired me to make you something. I couldn’t resist =P

Hey there, Unquenchable.

I am getting a better sense of the Blue site. What I like: the slow pace of it. You can read and commment on nearly every story that comes in. And there are some good stories on it. What I don't like: the Forums are boring as fuck. Just not enough people. Which is why I keep coming back here. smile

My next story will be erotica, however (I have a new horror flash ready, but will wait for Monday) (and probably rewrite it 20 more times in the interim).

A non-comp but astonishingly good story by Fuzzyblue is toward the bottomm of the front page. Sad and moving. https://www.lushstories.com/stories/straight-sex/if-i-kiss-it-will-it-make-it-better.aspx

Ice water and lime please.

I agree about blue. It's just hard to spend any time there unless I have something to read and comment on. Looking forward to getting caught up on your horror stuff this weekend.

Fuzzyblue is an incredible writer.

Looking forward to your return to erotica. Any teasers?

I held off on the comp, once again lol. I did get to a 6K entry, but it lost so much in the process that I couldn't bear to post it in that form. I'm going to take my time with this one. It's loooong.

Scott, here's your iced tea. Sorry about that headache. What's really frustrating about all the late entries is the ones by Rumplators are first-rate. No fooling. Lyf has ten comments so odds are he's in good shape but his entry is a must-read. She's entry is IMAGINATIVE (cap letters) and has only 7 comments. EdGivers83 has six comments while Sensual Lady is at two, which grieves me.

Kavyansh01's entry, "It All Started With a French Exchange" has only two comments and hasn't even been posted on the main page.
Since it hasn't shown up on my main page, here's the link to Keith's fine fiction:

Anyway, do yourself a favor and, if you get a chance, check out at least of few of those.

BTW, ya need a refill?

I've only read 2-3 comp entries this round, so I'm going to try to get caught up soon. I feel like I owe Lyfbuz, Tonya, Larry, and She some love. I'll try to get to the others, but I usually start with people I know first and then try to find new authors I like. Not sure how others do it, haha.

Side note: Is it frowned upon to vote on a story to help get it to the 10 votes and then come back to read and comment later? I've done it a couple times. I like to take my time reading and writing comments, but when time is of the essence, I'd rather give the vote if they are in jeopardy of missing qualifying. Just wondering how others feel about it or if it's considered foul play.

Interesting development on Capitol Hill.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R) has asked for a delay in the vote (Senate floor) on Kavanagh. He would like to see the FBI take a week and see what they can find out. Last night he indicated he would vote yes. Today he said he would feel more comfortable voting after a limited FBI investigation and this would help the country feel less divided. Everyone is scrambling madly at the moment.

I'm taking the weekend off from television and the internet. I can't watch anymore now.

I'll take a ginger ale, please.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Cheers!

I really, really like Jonah Hill and Emma Stone together. They have such a nice, easygoing chemistry in this. It's not hard to imagine them as really close friends off-screen. Superbad is also one of my favorite comedies. I was expecting more sci-fi elements and the story wasn't quite was I was hoping for, but other aspects made up for it.

I need to turn the news off too, I suspect, since it now appears nothing is going to happen until sometime next week. Yesterday was maddening, but I've calmed down today.

I could use a beer as well. A dark and roasty pint, preferably. Even when I'm frowny, I always welcome the infectious cheeriness of your posts.

Thanks for making the coffee, Verbal.

It's been eerily quiet this morning. Is everyone hungover after watching the trainwreck yesterday? Gonna find out a lot about where our country stands pretty soon.

Finished watching Maniac on Netflix last night. Thought it was pretty good to great. If you like twisty mind-bending stuff, retrofuturism, or Cary Fukanaga's work, then I would definitely recommend.

FFS I wanna write but I can't!! I've posted a story every month of 2018 but September is slipping between my fingers! Send help! Send inspiration! NOT NUDES. Well, nudes are welcome except dick pics. Wait, what have I gotten myself into?

Hey to everyone. smile

Tea, please.

I'm sad too, but also very excited to see how the novelization turns out. I don't know if you're on blue or if you're into horror, but you should check out Verbal's new flash over there if you haven't. It's excellent.

Here's the only inspiration I can muster. As it turns out, the "editing brilliantly" part is where I'm stuck with my comp entry.

Coffee, please. And keep it coming.

So much going on the last few days.

Congrats to Tonya for a famous poem! Quite a rare achievement, by many accounts.

Happy belated birthday, Sprite!

Congrats on the killer upset Gill! That’s a win that will get your football program noticed. And for being the mom that makes cookies before seeing their son off.

Congrats to Sara, mother of the bride!

I joined the blue side and have had a lot of fun over there the last few days. The contest has been a blast to be a part of and it was a very unique challenge to write for. Not only that, but learning about Alan (aka Mr. Martini), reading some of his work, and seeing the ways he influenced so many members has been uplifting and quite touching. I encourage everyone to participate! Does Hannah crack the whip over there as well or is it just here?

This is a bit late, but I couldn’t refrain from bringing it up. So when everyone was discussing Finnegan’s Wake and Ulysses the other day, it left me wondering if anyone else here has seen James Joyce’s love letters. I think they are out of print, but I read some of them online a few years ago. I think it’s in poor taste to publicize all the personal details, but they are fascinating and they contain some fantastic, really creative filth that rivals modern Lush standards. In the past, I’ve been guilty of thinking that his generation was probably close-minded and relatively puritanical. They squashed that notion. Whenever I’m tempted to forget that we really are just a bunch of animals, I remind myself that one of the most brilliantly frustrating authors to ever put words on paper wrote smutty letters to his “dirty little fuckbird” and had a thing for smelling farts. Seriously.

Now, I just need to wrangle my 10K comp rough draft into a sleek 6K over the next week or so.
I never even attempted Finnegan's Wake after hearing everyone tear into it.

This is the only book that has genuinely made me angry.

Garbage ass book trying act like it's a classic. Boooooo....

A lot of people like him, but I really dislike Nathaniel Hawthorne as well. I see the merit in his stuff though, it's just super boring to me.
I saw someone on here call him a dusty wanker and remember it because it seemed pretty accurate.

I need to make an account on blue. And do some research it seems.
And then figure out how to work the objects in. In under 420 words.
Yeah, this is gonna be tough.

Maggie and Alan were very close. Everything she has asked for, as illustrated in the SS competition guidelines, relates to him and his writing in some way. Since this competition is in celebration of someone our community had lost far too soon, it’s a wonderfully creative but challenging way to honour the man who was, among many more things, those two qualities.

Challenge Accepted! ?

Hint: Refresh your memory of his writings to better understand the man and his work. If you have never read his literary efforts, do yourself a favour and do so.

Ah, I didn't quite get what was going on. I see now. I've never read his stuff and only read a few things on blue in general. Definitely going to go check some of his stuff out now.

Good morning Miss Curvy. I'd love some hot tea after being awake all night. It's going to be a rough day. Tonight I get to see my boy in his element as Rabies. It's kind of his dress rehearsal before opening night tomorrow. He's excited and has some new tricks up his sleeve. I hope everyone is ready for a great Friday and wonderful weekend.

Seems about right. I don't call stuff "metal" very often, but this qualifies.

I've been to a couple that have high-end production special effects type haunted houses. Those are pretty sweet. They aren't trying to screw with you and scare you so much as it's a performance. It can be really unsettling though, cause you're like, ummm, what just happened there? Did I just witness a murder?

Is your son's haunted hotel kinda like that or is it the type where they actually chase you a bit (but aren't supposed to touch you)?

Those ones are awesome too. I did one of those where you end up in a barn (but it's dark so you don't know), and then the barn doors swing open into a field. You're a bit confused. Then you hear chainsaws start revving behind you and these crazy dudes chase you out of the barn and into the field.

That was some scaaaary stuff. But super fun. The participants are pissing themselves in fear and I bet the actors are trying not to crack up watching people fall over and try to get away.

People laugh and make fun of when people fall down and just kind of scoot away like in the cheesy slasher movies, but that's a real thing. I've seen it happen lol.
