Thank you Sir, for the drink. Jeff and Scott thank you for the accolades but he truly takes his character as another persona. The hardest for me was seeing him standing over his own grave. That was the last year at our hayride. The next year he returned at the hotel. He has made many friends with the same interest and loves his time at the hotel. We get to go Friday night as like a dress rehearsal before opening day, which is perfect timing for his brother to see him.

Scott my boy is almost 21 and outside of what he had to read for school he has read biographies of people he's interested in and mostly of Stephen Kings books as well as Go Ask Alice which is something I have had almost all the kids that are close to me and came to my house.

That's really interesting, Tonya. I've always enjoyed going through the haunted house/fields/trails every October and have met a few of the actors afterward. They are always super chill, fun people in my experience. People don't think about it often, but standing in the hot, dark, cramped spaces with makeup and strobes plus fog for hours on end takes a lot of dedication. I'd never thought about the actors having a persona or a backstory for their character, but it makes so much sense.

Rabies, the half dog boy. That's just awesome. Number 5 is my favorite. And the chain he wears in gnarly.

Good morning. I'll have some hot tea please. Thank you Miss Curvy for starting up Bertha. My littley is off to school this morning. We are counting down the days for the other to be delivered to Ohio. With that my oldest just got a new job. It pays better than the last and I hope he kinda likes it. It's always better when you do. His passion starts this weekend as the haunted hotel opens for the scare season. Anyway enough rambles about my kiddos. Going to attempt some writing today.

Your son's new job is at a haunted hotel? Or he just likes them and is going to one?

I stayed in a haunted hotel once and it was so much fun. I explored it very late at night and was hoping to see or hear something spooky. I even took pictures in the spots where the alleged ghosts were supposed to be extra rowdy, hoping to catch an orb or something.

But alas, no haunting was found. I don't know what your writing process looks like, but sometimes I'll outline a bit or write pieces out of order. For me, this often helps me get going again if I'm stuck.

Anyway, I don't mind your rambles and think you seem like a cool mom, Tonya.

Coffee me please.

That's a very interesting idea. There is a lot of food that lends itself to erotic use. Not that I have ever done such a thing.

It seems like a lot of food and it is but there is a method to my madness. Long ago I learned the advantages of prepping and making things ahead of time.

Now that I am taking care of my parents I like to make a week's worth of meals ahead of time. I either freeze things or they can keep for a few days.

Some recipes I do the prep on the ingredients and freeze for later cooking.

This weekend has been added fun and food with visiting family.

The bagels came out pretty good. Too much work though.

It's late enough for a beer now. I've already had three (not really they went for the marinades).

Cheers Everyone!

Slow down there, batty lady. Save some beer for everyone else.

I enjoy cooking and food prepping, now that I've started to get the hang of it. I've been gradually taking over more of the food plans when my family gets together, but the multi-tasking still really stresses me out. Most weeks, I'll do a big food prep on Sunday, so I'll have lunches and a few dinners all week. It's a worthwhile skill to learn, for sure.

How are everyone's comp stories coming?

Finally got mine rolling this week after a slow start. I'm a horror movie junkie and wish there were more stories in that category here, so I'm gonna try a horror-mystery hybrid.

Who needs awards and prize money? Accolades are cheap. I'm going for gasps (both kinds).

Lemonade for me, please.

this is how I will release them, on Amazon. They won't be here forever.

This is how you start a marketing push. You're already crushing it on that front (see: you better read my stuff before I start charging you all, hahah)

Seriously though, this idea sounds completely awesome.

I love the idea of being able to read them in a random order, other than the multi-parters, from a creative standpoint. The novelty alone is awesome, and the fact that you're a fantastic writer allows you to pull off some really wicked stuff.

But I know people that would likely never come visit this site that would almost certainly buy your stand-alone novel if I recommended it and told them "Hey, go read this story about this couple that's into bdsm. It's super filthy, but it's also very honest and sweet too."

They would almost certainly love it. But they'd also ask me what the fuck I just made them read because 50 shades is the filthiest thing they can possibly imagine. You'd make some sweet ass moolah, and I'd get the satisfaction/chuckles of watching them have to handle the new reality that they are now stuck with. Everyone wins.

Self-publishing on Amazon seems like a beast in and of itself.

I wish you Godspeed on what could be a large to enormous undertaking

Welcome, Grace. Good luck sleeping, Rump

I have family staying here from North Carolina. Hopefully, they will have a house to return to once Florence passes. It's mostly going to be a rain event here but my oldest son and his wife are in a troublesome area and cannot leave since she is a police officer and considered essential personnel. I am hoping they and their house will be okay.

The only other worry is what to do with our boat that is docked two hours away. The waters around here are already so high from the torrential rains we have been having all summer.

I get the feeling a trip to the marina is going to be necessary tomorrow so we can get it pulled out before the rain from Florence gets here.

That's scary. I've experienced tornado weather and earthquakes, but nothing like the intense hurricanes. Keep safe. Wishing the best for you and your family, Gil.

For me, I'm thinking some sleepy-time tea with a shot of bourbon is in order, but I'm thinking I should scrounge around the bar for a literal and metaphorical umbrella for my favorite batty patron.

Thanks for the drink. I'll take a Sexy Amelia. In case anyone is wondering, that is a steaming hot cup of black coffee with just a touch of cold water to cool it off because it is too hot and sexy to drink right away. It has to be savored and consumed slowly like its namesake. One sip at a time.

This is amazing, Jim. I will have one Sexy Amelia please. It's been a long day and I could use a jolt of caffeine to get through the next couple of hours.

One of the most underrated shows on TV. Just started the 13th season. It came as kind of a surprise to me...that it came back so soon after the actors had their other series' cancelled... Sooo good.

Agreed. The running joke of Mac's body weight is just amazing. When he first showed up, I was like "Damn, he looks good. Did he lose weight?" Then, it just played out and I was in tears. Especially after "Fat Mac" debacle. Every human with bad taste should watch this show.

Quote by apptobebad
I really enjoyed the first series. Just started watching the second as well.

I just finished the second season last night and I really liked it. It got lukewarm reviews, but I thought it was pretty entertaining. I understand the comparisons to a Breaking Bad-lite, but Marty Byrd actually (seems) to somewhat care about his family and is way more likable, in my opinion.

I caught up with Castle Rock. I thought they had aired all the episodes. Now I have to wait for the last two. Arghhh.

I really like the show. Probably because it is not based on any single book or character. You don't even need to have read any Stephen King books to enjoy it,
but if you have you can catch little easter eggs along the way.

Is it weird that I think we are soulmates? Castle Rock is probably my favorite show I'm currently watching. Yeah, it started out a bit rough, but it's become absolutely compelling and I can't wait for the finale. I gotta say, you're the only person I've interacted with who has seen it and I was dying after episode 6 When the priest freaked out NOT DEAF, PERFECT. That may be the creepiest thing I've seen in years. It gave me full body chills.

I adored Sharp Objects but it seriously broke me and was painful to watch at times (and I've had a relatively blessed life with little to no self-harm). Still, I can't wait to read the book, but my queue of things to check out is becoming unmanageable. Again, my favorite thing about the show was how creepy it was (the constant words and ghost girls in the background). Fantastic. I loved Amy Adams. "You're just a drunk and a slut" slayed me. I don't know if you've ever watched Mindy project, but that line coming out of his mouth (Chris Messina) was so damn brutal.
Quote by Verbal
It's kinda hard to find (the Audience Channel), but if you can catch Mr. Mercedes on TV it's really good. Adapted from the Stephen King novels, and Dennis Lehane (he wrote Mystic River, great writer) is writing many of the scripts. It's a little padded, like they are trying to stretch it out, but it is REALLY creepy. Particularly season 2.

I'd be interested in checking this out. I just need to find a way to watch. I've heard several people now say it's great. I've been watching Castle Rock on Hulu and it's fantastically creepy as well. Most of King's film and TV adaptations leave a lot to be desired, but maybe, just maybe we are past that? I loved the film adaptation of IT Chapter 1 as well and that's one of my favorite books. And there's one moment in Castle Rock that was so unsettling that it gave me full body chills and stuck with me for a few days.

Had yet another busy weekend, but I did enjoy the return of football. It finally feels like fall. Rump, have you broken out the Pumpkin Spice Lattes yet? Ha! If not, I'll just have a regular coffee.
Congrats to Amelia, Pixie, Hannah, and Beffer (or losers, depending on the prizes for this). I really, really liked Amelia and Hannah's entries in particular, as well as a couple others that didn't make the cut. Very difficult to judge, I'm sure. I'm just glad I got to read them all. Looking forward to some playful trash talk and story comments when the Back to School entries are posted.

Iced tea, por favor.

Toasted Pleasures
As I approached the den, she sat there in her night dress having phone conversation with her friend. The nature of conversation caught my ear… “Yes, it’s the big silver one I showed you the catalog.. about 16” long…. I thought four too many… two is enough. Yes… we can do it tomorrow… when he wakes up.. share it between us, show him how it works…. Yes, 7 settings…. LOL… He has no clue… though he questioned me… what I was looking at…. Ya…. Told him of my “plan” to buy a new sex toy... LOL… he’ll freak with you being there too.”

Coming downstairs… they sat there smiling, popping bagels in a new toaster.

I'm not a mod, but if you removed the ellipses and changed the wording into complete sentences, then this would be much easier to follow. I would also remove the "LOLs."

I also had a story rejected because it didn't fit within the site guidelines. I revised and resubmitted and it is up now. The mods I have talked to are very nice and would probably give you additional feedback if you asked.

I like your idea though. With a bit of polish, it could be even better. My second draft was much better than the first. Keep writing!

I'm just trying to be helpful, not an ass.

One of the hot silver fox dads who I have had a thing for, for ages, actually gave me orchids and champagne. He remembered the dumb joke that I made about those being my favourites. So like I think I have my ins now? He and I are good to go. And if I wanted to, I'd be allowed to now, I'm not on contract so I COULD fraternize with a parent outside of school.

Could be the beginning of a new story, or at the very least, some fun fantasies? Congrats on making a bold career decision. I'm Julie, btw.

Took my latest story through a draft. Almost ready.

I've only read three of your stories and I'm nowhere near caught up on your Shards, and yet, I'm so damn hyped for this. It's unreasonable. Like, when people who don't give a shit about Star Wars are suddenly interested in when the next movie comes out, haha.

I have a couple new flash pieces to read before I head out to play at the Land of Make Believe to end the kiddos summer. It's going to be in the 90's again today so a good day for it. Enjoy your Tuesday.

Hi Tonya, I'm Julie. I'm finally almost caught up again with flash as well. I also really enjoyed your entry. I meant to mention your post the other day about the Deathwish coffee that your son likes (I've never tried the Valhalla one). I didn't see anyone really mention it, but I gotta warn you all if you plan on putting Deathwish in Bertha. Have you ever drank it? It's insane! It's like 750mg of caffeine per cup (roughly 7x normal amount). I don't generally enjoy crushing anxiety, heart arrhythmias, and paranoia so I have to pass on it now, but it tastes great if you are into those side effects and/or less sensitive to caffeine than I am!

A cup of sludgy, normally caffeinated java, por favor.

I really enjoyed your story, Susie.

Had a crazy weekend. Went to Dave and Buster's, two kid's birthday parties, and watched Black Panther and Deadpool 2. I'm dreading work in the morning.

I know it's been said, but wow, this contest has just been an absolute blast. I get that it's more fun and light-hearted than the typical contest because it's easier to qualify and low-stakes, but I'm already excited for the next one. I still have probably 10-15 entries left to read.

I started coming around when it was nice and quiet, right before the contest, and appreciate how friendly and accommodating the long-time patrons have been both to me and this crazy influx of guests. I could use some decaf tea for a nightcap.

Season starts next weekend. This guy is pretty entertaining and QBs one of the most underrated teams. Just sayin
I'll have a coffee, Rump.

Just got all caught up on the contest entries. I've really been enjoying this the last couple of days. All the entries are so good! I have maybe 5-6 favorites so far, but I have no idea how the judges can even pick a winner. There's a really good variety of concepts too.

My first try is dark as FUCK. I'll sit on it for a day or two, then maybe enter it.

On another note, this has just been so much fun already with the 6-7 entries I've read so far. It's much easier and tempting to enter an unofficial contest with such an easy task to be included.

Just saying...whether writing a story or cyber-sexing, not be so blah blah blah to over-describe, over-detail,
or over-insinuate with metaphors, everything ya say.
Some imagination is better, especially when you are to the point in your actions.
Don't end up causing their excitement a slow death.
Then they will give ya a bad vote, or simply pop up Porn Hub instead.

We are just fooling about. It's purposefully "terrible" writing advice. I agree, I would never want to read a story with that amount of over-description and detail.

Dripping Electric

No faces. No names.

Only feet. Clustered in pairs.

Some closer. Some farther away. Dozens surrounded her – impatiently shuffling while waiting for their turn.

It was Wednesday. Hump Day at Rump’s. She’d almost not accepted his invitation.

The seat’s well-worn and cracked vinyl felt dangerous against her belly’s piercing. The thin, metal legs were cold against her colorfully-inked skin, where both wrists and ankles were bound with duct tape.

She’d volunteered, and the orgiastic crowd enthusiastically stripped and bent her over the bar stool.

The music was low. The lights dim.

The first stranger’s touch was cunt-dripping electric.

Nice one, G! So many implications and so much left unsaid. That's the best part about the 100 word limit. It gives you just enough space to plant the seeds of suggestion in the reader's mind.

I almost went in a similar direction, but changed my mind. Rather focusing on a scene, per se, I went the route of describing a particular moment. I can't wait to read more of these.

Btw, is there like a trash talk thread for competitions? Or is everyone usually pretty encouraging? Am I already in the trash talk thread?

Does it have to get our name, or do we get to name whatever we want it if we win? Can we name your toaster, say, the "Bread Cremator 9000"?

Iced tea, por favor.

Calling it a nipple is too plain. You're a poet! If you can't spend at least a page and a half paying homage to the glorious love nub that protrudes impatiently from her breast, standing at rigid attention like some brown-pink soldier standing at full dutiful attention atop his majestic fleshy hill, surveying the hot and deliciously smooth landscape, and awaiting a nice little pat on the head.... Well, you don't deserve to write erotica.

Nice one! I think I got it figured out.

His cock was a sculpted marble edifice that stood proudly atop his grassy knoll like some ancient Greek hero straight from Mount Olympus, shining with a pearly fleshy helmet atop his jaw-droppingly long, statuesque stature, ready to fight off invaders and conquer me with the zealous intensity of the 300 Spartans of mythic legend.

Swing and a miss....

This show was set to be released earlier this year, but was delayed due to the Parkland shootings. Then the Santa Fe school shooting happened and Paramount decided to shop it out to other networks.

It's very dark humor, but the characters are so unlikable the show is almost unbearable to watch. I'm 6 episodes in so I'm going to finish the season, but I would be amazed if this is going to get picked up for a second season.

I had no idea they were making a show out of this! It's disappointing to hear that it's likely a bust. I love the original, but I can see why it would have a hard time getting made today. "What's your damage, Heather?" "Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw." "Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?" The original is so damn quotable.

The protagonist name should be Bubba with a cock needing a spool to wind it back in to his polyester bellbottomed trousers. Tattoos of Mongolia, Dunkin Doughnuts and a gnome named Earl. A pocket full of ticket stubs to a Chinese art gallery in Polanski, Tennessee.

I love how incredibly specific this is, Adagio.
I'm laughing out loud at such a grave, serious eulogy I wrote up above. I meant it, but I normally do a better job refraining from expressing political or religious beliefs on here. Between the aftermath of HBO's Sharp Objects finale and several glasses wine, I was in quite a state.

I'm wondering if what this joint needs is a mini-fiction contest of our own. Ya know, 100 words or less, dedicated to the hottest sex we can crank out with that word limit. If it works (doubtful) they might all be combined and submitted to Lush as some sort of special category collection. Just a thought.

I would enjoy participating in and reading the entries from such an event. I'll take some of Bertha's Best this beautiful morning.

This is from David Foster Wallace's brilliant reporting about McCain on the campaign trail in 2000. "Something about McCain made a lot of us feel the guy wanted something different from us, something more than votes or money, something old and maybe corny but with a weird achy pull to it like a whiff of a childhood smell or a name on the tip of your tongue, something that would make us think about what terms like “service” and “sacrifice” and “honor” might really refer to, like whether they actually stood for something, maybe."

I can't say I agreed with all of his politics and, like all of us, he had plenty of faults. Nevertheless, he  was an unequivocal hero and patriot. We are lesser without him. It was upsetting to see him struggle with his cancer amid the current shitstorm that is American politics right now. His reprieve is well-earned and I hope he rests in peace.

I like bill's idea of second person but it makes me feel pretentious.

Quote by seeker4

Second person kind of intrigues me but I'm not fond of reading second person stories so I can't see myself writing one. Reminds me of playing Dungeons and Dragons as the dungeonmaster and saying things like, "You round the corner and find yourself in a 20 foot hallway lit with torches. Six huge, muscular creatures with piglike faces stand there holding swords. What do you do?"

Heh, it's kind of fun to play around with this tense, but I don't think I could ever write in it for very long. Something like this (if taken seriously) could potentially be pretty cool though. Not sure if it already exists.

"You awoke, chained to the bed, and found my second-person manuscript sitting in a tidy pile on your chest. You had no idea that second person was even a tense that people actually used. You tilted your head upward and began to read. Your heart started pounding as you realized what the pages contained: a systematic outline of the filthy things you would soon experience at my hand."

I bet there is a crowd that would love to read some D&D style stories as well.

Is there anything that's been festering in the dark recesses of your mind?

I ask because I've wanted for so long to write a more in depth, multi-chapter, character-driven story about a married couple exploring a cuckolding-influenced lifestyle, but with a twist I finally started it this week and wrote almost 24,000 words in the first four chapters, in five days. Those that like this genre, seem to be enjoying it. I know I am enjoying writing it. I've already started working the next chapter and have multiple ideas for future installments. It's like a jolt of caffeine for the creative soul. I'm writing something that I really enjoy when I sit at my computer or iPhone.

Anything like that for you?

Well, I started writing this earlier this afternoon and when I came back your comment got messed up, Haha, anyway.

Looking forward to checking this out. I'm pretty neutral on cuckolding, but I always enjoy your signature style and twists so I'm sure I'll be sucked in pretty quick. 24K words in five days is just an insane pace to me. If I can get 500 - 1000 words down I'm pretty happy. I should probably spend less time talking about writing and spend more time actually writing. Both definitely hit me like caffeine though and are super enjoyable. Wish I had more time for creative activities.

I got a Black-Mirror-ish sci-fi story based on an idea that has been festering for a while. I submitted it a while back as a poetry-prose hybrid, but it didn't quite fit the site guidelines. I'm pretty happy with the revisions though and think it will be a better story when I submit for a second go round. Hoping to birth that monster soon.

I could use an actually jolt of caffeine as well, coffee please.
