I think it would be great to have a thread to introduce any new Mod or Admin team member when they are appointed. If there already is such a thing, I can’t find it (may be just me, of course).

It’s easier if the new Mod is already a regular writer or participant in the forums. Then you’ve already had a chance to get to know about their interests and personality.

But recently I noticed a Mod was appointed who’d only had a Lush account for less than a month, and hadn’t got any stories online. In a case like that, it would be great to know a bit more about them.

They could either introduce themselves or be introduced by a senior Mod. Either way, it would help.

What do other people think?

Exactly ten years ago today, on 8 June 2011, I opened my Lush account. The main reason for this was that I’d recently written several erotic stories and had been looking for somewhere to post them online. I’d tried a couple of other sites without much success, but then decided to try Lush. I submitted the first of these straight away, and amazingly it went online that same day. It’s here if you’re interested.

Lush has changed a bit during those 10 years. The style and format of the site has developed. People and friends have come and gone. New members have arrived, written stories, been plucked from the masses for promotion to Moderator, and thereby achieved eternal Lush fame and glory. Some of these I’ve offered help and advice, and it’s been great to see them settle in here and make it to the top. Others have flourished briefly before disappearing from sight.

And through all this, I’m still here, nearly 150 stories later, still toiling away at the coal face while getting the occasional follower and kind comment on my stories. To mark the occasion, I’ve written a new story, which has gone online exactly ten years since my first. It’s called “Whispering Angel”, and you can read it here.

Is it any better than my first? It’s not for me to judge. But if I’m still generating the occasional stiffie and wet patch in you, my readers, then it hasn’t all been a complete waste of time.

Thank you to everyone who’s ever read one of my stories; looked at my profile page; given me helpful advice; made me smile; and cheered me up when things have looked bad. If you read this, you know who you are.

And final thanks to Nicola, for making this site in the first place.

Jen makes some excellent points here, with some well-chosen examples.

I’d like to suggest that there’s one particular type of story that suits microfiction really well, and that’s the sort that ends with a “punch-line”: often (but not necessarily) comical. More than in most stories, that final sentence is critical, and something that brings a smile to the reader’s face is always a winner.

And if I may be so bold, I’d like to use a couple of my own stories as examples – not because they’re any better than many others, but because I know where they are.

For example, in “A Pizza The Action”, the main paragraph is pure filth, but the last two lines round it off with a chuckle (and open it up to the reader to fill in what comes next).

“Practice Makes Perfect” basically plays the same trick.

“Forgive Me Father, for I have Sinned” was my entry for last year’s Microfiction competition and has (I think) one of my naughtiest and funniest endings, with the last two lines again adding a whole new twist to the story. Even though it didn’t come anywhere in the comp, I still think it’s a good example of a proper 100-word story.

“A Lift Home” has a punch-line which is maybe less purely funny, but adds a whole new dimension to the story. It’s also one where the picture definitely inspired the story.

And finally, a slightly different story is “99”, where the fun comes from not knowing why the protagonist has her face covered in semen. In 100 words, you can get away with not explaining it, and that (I think) makes the story funnier.
