Thanks for the feedback.

@Noll, our creative genius and I will take a look at your suggestions.

I think we've covered most bases already with the dozen or so in circulation. And there's only so much time people have to help out with these little projects (especially as they are giving it up freely).
Obviously still not quite understanding how whole baby thing works yet ...

It's been a privilege running the site this year.

We've run some amazing competitions, the chat rooms are lively, there's been a multitude of interesting forum posts and debates, some very active groups have sprung up, the mobile site has had an overhaul, and we've gone from strength to strength.

It's our community which makes this place so special, and the individuals who make it up.

With that in mind, we thought it might be nice for our members to give a shout out to those members who've made an impact on them this year.

So please nominate your favourite contributors and give a few lines on why you've done so.

It's the time of year to spread some cheer!

Feel free to nominate as many people as you wish to.
It's the season to be jolly (no, really!).

So we're running a competition to see who has the most festive avatar.

The winner (s) will receive a Platinum membership (If you already have one, you can gift it to another).

Let the games begin!

What are the requirements?

We have accounts with shutterstock.com and 123rf.com. See for yourself if you can find hot suitable images on those sites. And if you can't, if you can find other royalty free image sites which we can use, please let me know.

Feel free to PM me your suggestions.

I agree with you about the lack of diversity in the available images. You'd be surprised how many hours we've spent searching.

Beautiful pics for sure! One might get the impression that only white folks have sex though. More racial diversity in the next slider batches would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We found it a real struggle finding more racially diverse images on shutterstock and 123rf.

You didn't see these?

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of a loved one.

Hopefully see you early on in the New Year

*shakes head* Bloody Aussies.

Now let's not go there today ...

Another big thank you to Liz for her time and creativity on the banner:

No promo for the comp in the featured items on the front page this time? I just cycled through the images and there wasn't one.

Good point. I'll see if Liz can knock us one up. I don't mean to alarm anyone, but she's been busy writing

There are half a dozen new sliders to go up too. Gav is a little backlogged right now. There have been issues with the Australian broadband network and he's been scratching around on a tethered connection this week.

To clarify, the theme here is Winter and that picture is inspiration? Or do we actually have to work from that picture? Winter I can do in spades (I am Canadian, after all) but that picture ain't my winter.

The latter!
Just popping in to let everyone know our new "Winter Wonderland" story competition is now live.

We're going with the image below to conjure up some magical works of inspiration!

(If anyone here works in a resort in the Alps, can you please book me in for a week's skiing next month, on the house of course )

Winter Wonderland Competition

The winter season is soon upon us (in the Northern Hemisphere).

It's a magical time of year when people gather together, feast and find various ways to keep warm.

Competition Theme

For this competition, we want writers to use the attached image for inspiration.

We expect story themes to include: Après-ski parties, going "Off Piste", groups of friends enjoying outdoor activities, crackling log fires, heat / ice play, hot ski instructors, romantic getaways, resort pick-ups, hot sauna or jacuzzi sessions, getting lost in the snow etc..

With it being a busy time of year for many of us, and to add to the challenge, stories for this competition should be short and sweet, being 4,000 words or under (please use MS Word or keep your story entry to within 20 words of our site's word counter).

Dates and full details here >>

It has been a challenging 11 months developing, growing and administering the new mobile site.

The bulk of which has been done by the double act of Bluestars and MollyDoll, who have tirelessly processed images on a daily basis, gone through the helpdesk reports and pointed out site issues as they've arisen.

It's for that reason that we are handing out 2 Mod of the Month awards for October.

A massive thank you to Kate and Molly for all their help with these tasks.

Have fun spending the US$100 "shoe money" each both of you!

This proved to be a very difficult competition to judge. It was hard enough whittling down all the entries to a Top 20, let alone a Top 10.

Only 4 points separated places 2 to 4, with 9 judges chipping in for this one (a huge thank you to those who took the time to help me out with this one! ).

But as always, there can be only one winner. Hearty congratulations to Mags for your excellent story, "Out of the Shadows". Well done too to WannabeWordsmith and especially to DarkSide for making the podium. You've been knocking on the door regularly!

1st Place ($150): Out Of The Shadows, by Saucymh
2nd Place ($100): Last Rites, by WannabeWordsmith
3rd Place ($50): Bad Martha’s Basement, by DarkSide

Completing the Top 10 are these excellent entries. Congratulations Beffer for making the list. I'm singling you out in particular as your writing has come on in leaps and bounds over the years =d>

To the winners, I'll be in touch re your prizes shortly.

EP's, RR's and badges are also on their way.

A new competition will be announced very soon.

Thank you to everyone who wrote entries for this competition, to those who voted and commented on the stories, and to our panel of judges.

Cheers,

Nicola

How about the competition entry badge show the number of competition entries, like the author badge. Restrict the number of individual badges to say three or six with winner, second place and third place winners automatically taking precedence? For the remainder, give the author the ability to specify which badges he or she wants to show on their profile.

Great ideas!
We are sending a very large amount of traffic to the mobile site, so the server has been upgraded significantly the last week.

It takes a few days for the DNS to propagate which caused the downtime unfortunately.

The server has been very fast since the changes have been made. I'm very impressed.

Apologies for any inconvenience. We're doing our best to make improvements across the board in terms of hardware and performance.
Wow, 44 entries so far. Great turnout!

Only a few more days before the deadline.

Remember it's a 10 vote minimum to qualify, so don't leave it until the last minute to submit your entry.
Gav is trying to get to the bottom of this.

Since moving to faster hardware last week, the issues appear to be happening with a greater frequency which is ironic
You used to be able to post videos from all the biggest porn tubes here in the forums.

They may have changed their URLs and we might need to do something on our side. I'll ping Gav and ask him to look into it.

One simple comment. In all my years on this site, I have never, ever, looked at a score to decide whether to read the story or not. I do find them interesting. But they are simply not any sort of determinant to whether I will pay attention.

So, any scoring system is fine with me. Please, just read my stuff and give me a comment now and then.

I love your philosophy.

I read stories based on a multitude of factors. Those which have an interesting title, a one liner which draws me in, enticing tags ... And a quick scan of the first paragraph will be enough usually to see if the author has the chops or piques my interest.

I suspect most people feel the same.

Maybe we should do away with the scoring system altogether?
There were a handful of Moderators who could have taken out the award for Moderator of the Month in September.

Our regular queue smashers of Curvy, Firstblush, Chris, Rach, Laura and Kee all processed over 50 stories for the month (some over 100!), which is a remarkable effort.

A huge thank you goes out to them

I am delighted to give the award to someone who has taken to the verifying like a duck to water, and is well deserved of praise.

Congratulations and big thanks to TangerineSky (Alyx)

I'll be in touch re your $100 prize.

In my story (not that I invented the idea), I wake to find a ghost having sex with me. That's prima facie , whether I resist or surrender and whether I end up being happy or upset by it. The rules preclude it whether it is a real ghost or a dream of a ghost.

Does it make any difference that the story resolves in a positive and romantic way that caused the characters to reinterpret the events?

I don't want to get banned for submitting a story that might be objectionable.

I'm sure it would be fine if all parties ended up with a smile on their faces.
