Let's settle this once and for all, Lush style!

We ask one of life's most important, thought provoking and challenging questions.

Do you like pineapple with pizza?

Reminds me of the time someone said that they looked forward to me entering the family.

I said, "All of them? Damn. That's a lot of people."

Fortunately, she was older, didn't hear so well, and I was drunk. No one over heard. It could have been a lot worse.

A big thanks to Liz for another incredible job on our competition banner.

That gal's got mad skillz. Not bad at design too!

Halloween and Horror Competition

The Celts are thought to have been the founders of what is now known as "Halloween", around 2000 years ago. Their new year started on the 1st of November. The night before they enjoyed a large festival called Samhain which was a celebration of the harvest and the start of winter. It was also thought to be a time when ghosts would come out. The Celts would dress in masks and build big bonfires on the night of Samhain, and also put out food and extravagant offerings for ghosts.

Competition Theme

Our Halloween / Horror contest is all about ghosts, ghouls, vampires, the devil, demons and gods, legends of monsters and other supernatural and scary phenomena.

We want to see exciting scary stories of adventure, evil spirits, mystery and thrills.

So wipe the cobwebs off your keyboards and set pulses racing with your cold sweat and goosebump inducing sexy tales of horror and intrigue!

1st Place Prize: $150
2nd Place Prize: $100
3rd Place Prize: $50
4th Place Prize: A dead spider

Call Nicki now on 5 ...

Is that enough to retire on these days?
I love it when spammers get roasted.

Also if she's that desperate for cash, maybe she deserves her 5 minutes before this thread and account get nuked.

With the enormous drop off in recorded views we have seen as more and more readers use the mobile site, it is insanely difficult to reach the 25K famous story level now, let alone a 100k legendary peak. A change like this will only punctuate that new works have little or no chance of equalling these posted before the changes.

I can confirm this is not true.

Traffic on the desktop site has remained around the same level since we made the switch over to the new mobile platform.

On the mobile site, we've actually seen quite a drop in traffic as a result of the change. It seems that quite a percentage of people preferred the no frills read only mobile site. That's probably where you're seeing the dip in views. It's not from more people using the mobile site.

When we first started, we had a simple thumb up or thumb down option. It didn't work.

No other site we researched uses a 1-10. It would be almost impossible to implement that now considering 55,000 stories have been voted on using a 1-5.

We tried allowing anonymous voting. It was abused, particularly during competitions.

The scoring will remain the same for the foreseeable future.
We had a fantastic array of stories entered into this competition which was exactly what we'd hoped for.

This was a difficult competition to judge, so much so that our judges were given a dozen stories in the shortlist.

Winning out though were these excellent entries:

1st Place ($150): His Pleasure, by Saucymh
2nd Place ($100): Naked in New York, by Dark_Apollo
3rd Place: Behind Closed Doors, by Milik_the_Red

Congratulations to our runners-up (due to the way it is coded, the Top 10 only get a runners-up badge, sorry Tech and Susan!):

Perversion Therapy, by Ping
The Little Things, by TangerineSky
Altocalciphilia: Auntie Rachel's Stilettos, by Gil_Renard
That ain't no way to treat a Lady?, by CuriousAnnie
Criminally Obsessed, by vanessa26
Tiny Dancer and Daddy Danseur, by Green_Man
The House of Mirrors, by freespirit13
The Experimental Fuck, by techgoddess
Another Caning by Miss Strictwell, by SusanHarper

A big thank you to everyone else who entered, to those who voted and left comments of encouragement.

A new competition will be announced shortly.

Cheers!

Nicola

Blancmange? I think my dog had that once. It must be unsightly and very uncomfortable.7pNpJaIjb8sYaHtg

Lose much hair?
Yes. Poll attached.

Every. Single. Time. I load it, it updates to a new version.

iTunes comes a close second I'd say. It's like the software equivalent of Syphilis.
The Mod of the Month for August award goes to someone who goes above and beyond for the site, and has done for close to a decade.

Indeed I've threatened to suspend her several times as she truly takes the role to heart.

I have heard that she has an unfortunate condition. She's only able to orgasm when being spanked on all fours in a bath full of blancmange, with a Top Hat on whilst listening to The Proms. It must be some weird English fetish thing (not sure about the choice of dessert though?).

A MASSIVE thank you to Rach ("Sprite" to newcomers) for putting in so much effort, and for your enduring friendship

The cheque is in the post!

Quite a few verifiers are running their rule over our latest competition shortlist now, so apologies for a longer than usual publishing time. It's normally under 2 days.

All verifiers are volunteers and we're in the Top 3 most visited story sites on the web, so things can sometimes not go as quickly as we'd like.

That particular post referred to Noll's insult Buz thread.

Ah yes, that was it.

It doesn’t counter Sprites claim at all. The mods didn’t delete it. The site owner did. I think owning the site means she can do whatever she wants to with it.

I've not been here active for over a week so I have no idea what this is all about.

You want kitties? We got kitties!

So jealous!

I want to own my own place and to have little rascals around the place. Just been told I have to move again from my rental place. This time, the owners who promised a long-term let have reneged and after less than 2 years I have to move again.

I'm so sick of renting. But where needs must ...
You're very welcome.

The mobile site is still a work in process, as is the platform it's based on.

Trying to pair up 2 versions of the same site, has proved quite problematic, but I'm very happy with how the mobile site has turned out.

Nicola,

I'm not sure. Are you saying that because I received the mobile version auto-generated email, that is what caused all the links to take me to the finish profile page?

Precisely.

In future you will not receive emails which point to the mobile site if you are on desktop only.

Those active on the mobile site, will get the email with the correct mobile links (and may be "prompted" to complete their profile as that's how the software matches up stories / members who might be of interest).

Desktop users will be sent a revised version with correct links to the desktop stories etc.. I need to manually organise that as it's not going to be an automated process like it is on the mobile platform.
Unfortunately the auto-generated emails from the mobile site are unable to be coded in such a way that desktop users receive an email with desktop links. The email was sent to all members not just those who signed up on the mobile site.

This will change.

Only members active on mobile will get the auto-generated emails (which you can unsubscribe from in one click if it's your preference) in future.

Desktop members will be sent a different version of the fortnightly emails, with desktop links.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
It gives me great pleasure to award the Moderator of the Month award to someone who is the perfect gentleman (that's what he'd have us believe) around the site.

He is very encouraging to authors, regularly recommends stories for EP / OS awards, and every month churns through the queue.

A huge thank you to ChrisM for your time and dedication to the betterment of our writing community.

Cheers!

8.

More green and they leave that horrible taste at the top of your mouth.

Riper and they don't have much texture

I like cutting them lengthwise and bbq'ing them. The caramelisation goes beautifully with vanilla icecream (the proper kind with vanilla beans not flavouring) for an easy dessert.

I think Milik deserves a badge for his decade as discussed recently. And I still believe the badge should be called Decadent.

We had a 10 year member badge in the works. I forget what we decided upon calling it though, and it hasn't been actioned yet.

"Decadent" and "decadence" mean nothing to do with 10 years though.

I'll check with those who have better memories and we'll get it going!
