Thanks for explaining the situation in detail Liz.

Sending out hundreds of PM's, and then spamming the forums with half a dozen or so exact same posts, was her ultimate downfall. I deleted her account earlier today.

Bad mouthing the site, for protecting the work of other writers, and then spreading misleading information about us, with only a few of the facts, is simply not on.

I kept this a private matter with said member (as we always do), out of respect for the contributions she'd made over the years. She was the one who ultimately embarrassed herself, openly.

I don't believe in naming and shaming, putting heads on pikes, but this serves as a good lesson to people who think it's ok to steal other people's work.

It's even in our site terms and conditions, and quite frankly, shouldn't need to be said:

I hope you had a fun birthday Stormdog.

Apologies, I rarely check in this forum!

We've had a mad busy few months, with story submissions coming in thick and fast.

One person who we've not seen on the Moderator of the Month Podium for quite some time, really stepped up to the plate in June, and chomped through close to 100 submissions

A big thank you to Mollydoll, for her tireless efforts =d>

I'll be in touch shortly, about your $100 prize Molly

We take plagiarism very seriously.

Of late, we've identified no less than 3 members, who have been caught either directly lifting, or rewriting the work of others.

This is theft of intellectual property. It is actually a crime.

Even using a few lines of a song in a poem for example, you are required by law to ask the permission of the owner.

One of the members who directly lifted dozens of stories, has been banned from the site, totally. The others have 12 month publishing bans for creating derivative works (but mostly the work of another).

Please take time to read our terms and conditions again, if you haven't: https://www.lushstories.com/terms.aspx and our disclaimer warning: https://www.lushstories.com/disclaimer.aspx#submissions

In particular:

Thank you for your attention.

I just posted my piece, and the wordcount jumped up to 6,009 on publication, even though the count was an even 6K when I submitted it. Do I need to go in and excise 9 words? Gah!!!

Due to the irregular ways some programs count words, we allow some leeway. It's fine
Excuse the long answer to the short question!

The mobile site is predominantly a read-only portal for the stories / poems, with the advertising revenue from it, paying for the hosting of the desktop site too. I've tested it, and have encountered the same thing as you in the past. It's probably a pop-under ad page you're seeing. The desktop site should load though too, regardless. I believe the current system was set up, to show only one pop-under, per user, per month. I'd have to ask the sponsor.

We have had plans to make it all one responsive site, for quite some time now (regardless of device / platform). But with all the site functionality we have here (like private messaging, one on one chat, chat rooms, voting, comments, videos, profiles, ebooks etc.. all requiring account management / login / backend database etc.), it's not a small undertaking. We will probably start with a stripped down version of the desktop site when it does happen, to allow ads to be turned off, story voting / comments, simple chat, and so forth. Gav is looking at all our options.

It would probably take a full-time programmer, 3-6 months, to do it properly. That is time our programmer doesn't have unfortunately, and it would be cost prohibitive to outsource it (not to mention we wouldn't want 3rd parties, having access to our source code).

So, for now, we're stuck with it the way it is, I'm afraid.
@ oceanrunner - I think the issue is the way in which the database stores information. It can only be allocated fully to one member, otherwise there are duplication issues.

We'd have to change the site design, to allow the listing of 2 authors on the story page. It's doable.

Having an RR / EP allocated to both authors, makes sense. That would be a minor code change I believe.

We get so few stories co-written, it's a question of allocating resources, to changing things around.
I agree with the comment removal issue. It's only going to cause problems. I have no idea why it was added in the first place!

I've sent a message to Gav, asking if he can fix it up. It's clearly a bug. The settings only have the option of sending a message when someone has actually posted on one of your stories, not when they remove one.
Belated happy birthday wishes Mike.

(I really should check in on these threads more).
Woo hoo, 21 again!

Happy Birthday Liz (opps, too much vino)

I went to a live concert of The Pixies when I was a student at Uni, and they were starting to be famous. It was awesome.

Please, enough with the cliches and derogatory sexist remarks.

Now I'm going to powder my nose, and bake some cookies for the boys ...

Librarian ape approves. Now when do we start classifying them using the Dewey Decimal System?

The Dewey what now?

It was bugging me for a while.

Now it's easier to find works from the same author, or even a particular title you're interested in.

If we can help people find your eBooks in an easier way, all the better.

Google bought Android in 2005 already. That's before its very first release and before smartphones were even a thing yet.

Anyway, forget app stores, with current day technology you can have a website that looks (and for the most part acts) like an app on mobile devices and run it on every platform with the content you want.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_web_app

I'm getting confused with them changing the "Android Market" to "Google Play". When that happened (2012 / 2013?), and Google's name was actually on the App Store instead, adult apps got dumped en masse. I'd assumed that's when they bought Android. My bad.

Gav has been looking into the latter for a while now. It's a matter of him finding the time to set it all up. It's no small task, but something that we ultimately need to make a priority.

Over 75% of our traffic is on mobile devices now, and the web version really isn't the best, viewed on smaller screens. The mobile site is basically a read only version for our stories, and far from ideal. I'd like it to be fully featured, with voting, comments, a basic chat feature, messaging etc..

Developments happen very slowly, when you only have one part-time programmer. We could do with Gav full-time, but unfortunately, he's highly paid working full-time elsewhere.

This has nothing to do with Sprite's stupendous announcement, which I'm super interested in!

Just back from Apple's WWDC and your announcing the Lush App?

We actually spent thousands of $ on getting an Android App coded, and within a few months, Google bought out Android, and they canned adult apps (except the very softcore ones) from their store, across the board.

Amazon did the same thing in their App store, and have now seemingly done the same thing to their eBook offerings, dumping anything vaguely hardcore, out or down in the rankings.

Apple have always taken a zero tolerance on anything even vaguely adult, so it's pointless writing an App for that platform.

All in all, Apps are rather pointless for anything adult any more. It ended up being a total waste of money and time for us.

For putting in a solid shift in May, on the story queue, I am pleased to announce that Robertl takes out the Moderator of the Month Award, for May.

She's refreshingly honest and open in this enjoyable interview: https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/enwmzc/play/a9npd4/p053v2zs

I'm not sure her "bed" installation, would fit everyone's definition of what "art" is - it certainly got people talking all the same:

"Art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power."

She talks about it here: http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-liverpool/exhibition/tracey-emin-and-william-blake-focus?gclid=CPrT6_r4xtICFU5uGwodWlUMQg
Pure Filth Competition

We are getting back to our roots with this competition, and are looking for the filthiest, sexiest, hottest sex stories imaginable.

Competition Theme

Stories should be raw, explicit, nasty, extreme. The characters should be getting out of their comfort zones, and pushing their bodies and minds, to the limits.

They should be giving themselves up to wanton abandon, in pursuit of the ultimate hedonistic orgasmic experience.

Think along the lines of orgies, dogging, sex clubs, swinger parties, gloryholes, hardcore sex.

As an added challenge, stories should be no longer than 6,000 words.

Woo hoo. A great way to kick off the new forum Jen.

Good work!
What another wonderful choice Rach.

One of our top authors, and an altogether fantastic member.

Congrats BrownCoffee, thoroughly deserved award for one of my favourite authors - not only of stories, but also of poetry I've recently discovered
Woo hoo!

One of our hottest, dirtiest ever stories, and one of my favourites, from one of my favourite authors.

Well done Ash!
For the last couple of months, this person has absolutely smashed the story queue.

She's one of the most entertaining people you're ever likely to meet, and has a fierce sense of humour. She's also very helpful to authors in getting their stories published.

I am delighted to give the Moderator of the Month Award for April, to Ruthie

Thanks for all you do around here. Please check your inbox for your $100 prize!
Thanks for the subtle hint Mr. Rumple!

I'll get on it next week. These last few weeks have been rather fraught, and my time online has been very limited.
I don't know what's going on with that, but whatever you do, ALWAYS write a story on your own machine, in case of technical difficulties here / anywhere on the interwebs.

Notepad / TextEdit or another very basic text editor, is the safest strategy.
