Could I write a story on Whisky?

How would that work? Whisky is a liquid.

Did I draw these on a napkin in the kitchen? Yes.

I love that you did that!

Those look Picasso or Monet influenced. Are you classically trained? I can see you know your way around line drawings.

(Translated by sprite per Nicky's request:

that's dope ass graffetti, specially Mr Meaty, didja home school yourself, home fry, or is you just all that fly?)
It's a grey area, and stories are handled on a case by case basis.

Put it this way, stories which deliberately cause moderators headaches, trying to skirt around our rules, are not encouraged.
Fetish Sex Stories Competition

This competition is all about Erotic Fetishes:

"A form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, situation or activity."

Competition Theme

Fetish stories cover all kinds of fetishism activities. These typically include (but are not limited to) a fetish for feet, latex, watersports, pantyhose, bdsm, stockings, rubber, spanking, shoes, smoking, gas masks, uniforms etc.

Although some fetishes may appear bizarre to some, they are perfectly normal to others. We are very open-minded, and are looking forward to reading stories, based around a wide variety of fetishes and scenarios.

Stories should be limited to 7,500 words for this competition.

Full details can be found here.

We are delighted to announce that Fetlife.com are sponsoring this competition.

With over 5 million members, they are the world's leading social networking website for people interested in BDSM, fetishism, and kink (if you are already a member of FL, an Amazon Gift Card will be offered as an alternative prize):

If we go this way, it would be a small selection of avatars offered at signup, otherwise it may add a hurdle we don't want. The easier it is to sign up on a site, with the fewest steps, the better.

Or we could go the default route, and pick 2 of the most attractive models, like these:

How about adding the avatar selection to the sign-up page and making it part of the registration process?

They can pick one of the existing stock images initially and change it once their account is up and running.

Win.

Something completely different...

I know you won't necessarily be a 'newbie' if you have a default avatar, but if you've been here a while it might give you the motivation to get off your lazy arse and pick a new one. smile

I like that thinking. It's why the current ones were deliberately a little on the vulgar side. But some people don't seem to mind that at all!

The other option could be to disallow story submissions until people have changed from the default avatars? That could potentially annoy people and put them off submitting though. Or perhaps a pop up after a week or two, suggesting people will see more activity / attention, by customising their avatar?

Bump for more ideas!
Those photos are colossal SydneySider!

Seriously, some amazing shots there.
Happy birthday WSCLG the bear.

I hope you get everything you wish for, and have a wonderfully relaxing day doing exactly what you'd like to be doing

A final word on competitions:

https://www.lushstories.com/competitions/standard-rules.aspx

8. Stories will be judged based on a number of factors. These include the average score received from surfers / members (stories need to have a minimum of 10 votes to qualify for the competition), but primarily, from the input of a selected panel of judges. The decisions on the winners are final, and no correspondence concerning any aspect of our choices will be entered into.

Please keep this thread related to the title: "Which improvements or features would you like to see added?" We don't want to see any further subjective views on how you believe competitions would be better run.

Thank you.

As it stands, no one knows how winners and finalists are chosen.

Actually they do. This has been covered off many times over the years. I'd be happy to "sticky" the following if you wish?

The competition judging process:

- Our judges are asked to read as many competition stories as they can, over the duration of the competition. We ask them to do this, in case some gems slip through, which should be given due consideration.

- The top 20 - 25 stories (depending on the # entries) based on highest average score, are then read.

- That list is whittled down to a Top 10, which are then sent to a panel of judges.

- The panel is made up of a team of at least half a dozen judges, including moderators, "standard" members, and myself.

- The total # points from each judge, for each story, are added together. The stories with the highest point score, win.

I believe this is the fairest way to do it. It takes several days for me to remove scores from competitors, to read through the stories, score them, write notes and draw up a shortlist. Judges are asked to mention any they feel should be included in the Top 10.

I have been on many other story sites. The worst of which, basically allocate the top prizes, to those stories receiving the highest average scores. That leaves their competitions open to manipulation, as friend spamming is rife. Someone with 500 "friends", can win with a sub-standard story.

If you can think of a better way to do it, I'm very open to ideas. I have had literally a couple of complaints about the way we run competitions, in close to 10 years. Many people have personally thanked me, for making it as much as a level playing field, as is humanly possible.

Are multiple entries allowed? smile

Absolutely! The more, the merrier.

In answer to the other question, please post the entries here. Feedback from our membership will help decide the winners.
This was a very playful competition, coinciding with the Olympics, and the stories reflected that.

The judges faced a difficult task, but in the end, a unanimous decision was reached.

Congratulations to our Top 3:

1st Place ($150) - Thin Ice, by Burquette
2nd Place ($100) - The Batgirl, by Buz
3rd Place ($50) - Touch, by gilrenard

Rounding up the Top 10 were these excellent entries:

Taking One For the Team, by VirgoGo
Exercising Restraint, by WannabeWordsmith
Gold-Medal Whore, by oceanrunner
Mixed Doubles, by naughtyannie
Hat Tricks and Firecracker, by MadMartigan
Double Oxer, by HeraTeleia
Judo - The Gentle Way, by ChrisM

A huge thank you to all those who entered, and to the judges who had the hard task of picking the winners.

A new competition will be announced shortly.

This is being looked into. Sorry for the delay.
This is being looked into.

I know our image server was being worked on these last few days.

The maximum avatar dimension on both user profile pages and in the forum is 150 x 150px.

Would this be okay?

Sure! They are likely to be of a higher quality that way too. Blowing up a smaller image to fill space, never works very well.

I've updated my original post. I was going by the forum defaults.
It has been suggested by a few members, that our default avatars, could do with modernising. Seeing they are close to 10 years old now, I agree!

So, we're running a competition, with US$100 up for grabs.

Competition Spec:

2 x Avatars - Female / Male (it keeps things simpler with just the 2)

Dimensions: 150 px x 150 px

Feel free to use your imagination. They do not need to be a silhouette for example.

Original designs are preferred. You should own the copyright to any graphic / images, you use.

The winner must grant us permission / licence to use the graphics on our site.

The competition will close on 30 September 2016.

If you have any questions, please ask away.

Cheers,

Nicola
Someone who was laid up for the best part of August, absolutely ROCKED the story queue.

Can you guess who that might have been from the following clue?

Congratulations HRH. Sprite I hope you can get a new set of strings with the $100 Prize.

95% for female members unless I want people to think I am a woman.

Neither of the extensive selection committee (of 2), could find many attractive guys on Shutterstock (that did it for us) I'm afraid.

You are quite welcome to search for more if you wish. I like yours, it's personal

A new design for the default avatars, would be most welcome. Great idea for a quick competition.

Some of that selection, especially the girls, are truly horrid. I've spent ages, I mean ages, looking at them to reach a reasoned conclusion too

Ash and I spent a long time going through literally thousands of images. There was no need, we simply enjoyed the process
