Having rewritten almost the entire core of the site over the last 3 months, Gav is now happy that the upgraded database and site, is stable.

I would like to thank him for his efforts, the site is noticeably faster across the board.

For his performance review, he scored an incredible 94 / 100. Considering everything going on on our home page, which has a size of around the 700kb mark, this is nothing short of astonishing.

Congratulations Gav, and a huge thank you for all your hard work!

Also a big thank you to all our members, who have supported the site with a paid membership. The money goes a long way towards paying for these hardware and software / site upgrades.

Cheers,

Nicola
If we went with a theme suggested by a particular author, who'd had perhaps several months or longer, to think up a plot for their story, wouldn't that introduce a semblance of a bias in their favour?

Hence I rule with an iron fist when it comes to competitions!
If you are not seeing the private mod forums, you will need to login again.

The site code is being updated over the next few days, and it means a cookie clearance.

Gav is updating the site code this week (he's been rewriting the core of the site code for the last few months), so you may experience a few issues across the site, as it beds in.

The good news is we should experience a huge increase in site speed across the board, afterwards

Helen of Troy, with a sex toy.. The face that launched a thousand ships cause she had big tits and perky nips that made many cocks twitch.. but her cooties made them itch.

If you come up with a "Helen of Toy" story, I'm personally banning you.

Many thanks for the heads up. Now to find ten souls who might be persuaded to vote for my pitiful prose. (sigh)

You are far too modest!

For anyone who hasn't read Mr. Rumple, he comes highly recommended.
I'm not sure of any technical issues we are having, but I strongly recommend, and have always done so, to never write a story directly into the submission box.

You should ALWAYS save it locally, on your PC, first. If there are any issues with the website (and indeed every website where you can use a submission form), or your ISP, and the page refreshes or crashes, you will lose the lot. That makes some people a tiny bit peeved.

yes, I have a friend that is a non-premium member. They cannot delete people on their Friends list. That should be a basic ability. They also cannot delete or move pics they posted while bronze member.

Are these issues being addressed?

Yes.

A new "build" of the site is being tested (live, on another site), and expected to be up within the next week or so.
Your story is showing Annie.

There aren't enough stories in the category yet, to populate the second page. The site template puts the "Next" button there regardless.

I second this. My computer likes to surprise me by double posting - maybe even 3 identical posts. Yes, I can pull them up and block everying on the duplicates, but it still leaves a big empty block with my name and signature line. Would be so nice when I edit, if I could delete the whole duplicate.

Forum mods do this routinely. If you ever need anything removed, please don't hesitate to drop me, or another mod, a line. It's no hassle.
This competition is aimed at celebrating the launch of our new "Historical" sex story category.

Stories should be written within the context of a historic setting (obvious examples include Ancient Rome, Victorian England), and contain rich historical detail.

Competition Theme

Our category description should spark a few ideas: "Mingle with the upper echelons of society at a Venetian masked ball, witness the gluttony and debauchery of ancient Rome, or experience the shocking scandal of a Victorian high-society love affair. This category is exclusively for stories set in a historical time period."

Due to the nature of these stories, we are raising our maximum word limit to 5,000 for this competition.

Good luck to all those who enter, and a thank you to those who voted in the new category!

Cheers,

Nicola
I've asked Gav to confirm all this.

The Omnium badge is for those who've written a story in every category. So, in theory, once we add a new category, nobody should have an Omnium badge until they write a new story for that category, or transfer one over to that category.

Another option might be to have a badge for writing stories in a wide number (30?) of categories - "Genre Badge" or something along those lines?
ADMIN: thread moved to the Hardware and Software Forum as duplicates are appearing.
Don't hold back Verbal, tell us how you really feel!

I'm definitely NOT going to "upgrade" after reading this: http://boingboing.net/2015/08/03/windows-10-defaults-to-keylogg.html

Windows 10 defaults to keylogging, harvesting browser history, purchases, and covert listening

By default, Microsoft gets to see your location, keystrokes and browser history -- and listen to your microphone, and some of that stuff is shared with "trusted [by Microsoft, not by you] partners."

You can turn this all off, of course, by digging through screen after screen of "privacy" dashboards, navigating the welter of tickboxes that serve the same purposes as all those clean, ration-seeming lines on the craps table: to complexify the proposition so you can't figure out if the odds are in your favor.

A Macbook would probably be a better option, however at £1599 for a 15" here in the UK, it's out of the question. You can buy a cute looking Lenovo for £700.

Apple shoot themselves in the foot with their pricing.
In her role as a Story Moderator, the winner of this month's award, processed over 50 stories in July.

Not only that, she was all over the forums, helping people out on a frequent basis.

I am delighted to give the Moderator of the Month Award for July, to Evie, better known as Ravenstar.

Congratulations Evie!

I hope you find something nice to spend the $100 Prize on.

Cheers!

Would a Charlie Chaplin story go into Humour or Historical?

Anyway, the motion has been passed by an overwhelming majority. An email has been dispatched to the lush dungeon. It shall be so (soonish).

From the Windows 10 end-user license agreement: Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary.

"When we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary" is my favorite part. Whoever wrote this should go into comedy.

Bastards.

You've got to be kidding, right?

Haven't the F.I.B. (sic) been doing that for decades anyway? I thought that's also why they set up that large social network designed by smurfs, to make the tracking of individuals even easier?
This message seems rather odd Dee, especially considering you've been here close to 2 years, and have 3 people on your friend list.

By way of a comparison to other adult sites, where people can chat, message, share photos, videos and stories, and hook up (yes, a lot of people use this site for all those purposes, and have done freely for 7 years), here is what it would cost you elsewhere:

I find it really surprising that a few people complain about our membership fees, which start at $10 p.a., especially as the core of the site, the stories, remain free.

P.S. I hope your surgery was a success, and wish you a speedy recovery.
Thanks Liz, I'll take a look.

I read one "fix" which involved some rather complicated looking instructions, and decided to give it a miss. Hopefully that one is at least semi-automatic!

Yeah, I know we don't generally allow fanfic for legal reasons, but I was reading somewhere lately that you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want with stuff like Shakespeare, Austen and Dickens, but it wasn't anything official.

I'll do a little digging myself.

Yes, that's pretty much my take on it.

In theory, if the original author has been dead for over 70 years, you should be fine.

If we start allowing historic fan fiction, we'll need to change our terms and conditions.

Are we allowed to do Jane Austen fanfic? (That's a serious question).

https://www.lushstories.com/disclaimer.aspx - we have a general disclaimer that we disallow fan fiction. That was primarily added to help protect our authors from getting into legal hot soup. Imagine the trouble we might get in, if say, one of our authors made up a story about a President allegedly having "sexual relations" with an Intern, for example. That wouldn't do at all!

Historical fan fiction like this, *should* be ok I think. A lot of people are at it (which doesn't necessarily mean it's legal to do so).

I shy away from anything which could get members of our community, or myself, into legal trouble. If there's a lawyer on here with in depth knowledge of Copyright and Fair Use Law, it would be lovely if you could help clear this matter up.

Meanwhile, I'll do some investigating.

EDIT: "You’re getting into a couple of interesting, and very tricky, legal areas with this idea, however devilish and cunning it might seem. Almost certainly, you’re not the first to have come up with a plan like this, but before you think of executing it, there are some things you need to be aware of.

The first is copyright law. It’s a legal labyrinth, but in essence it boils down to the fact that the copyright on a work remains with the author, or his successors, until 70 years after his death. However, if the work was first published outside the UK, then it becomes even more complex."
