I really should check in "The Pub" more often. It's just my AA counsellor told me I should stay out of places which might lead me astray

A VERY BELATED Happy Birthday Poppet!
Happy Birthday WSCLG!

Thank you for all your hard work behind the scenes.

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing birthday.

I think for the profile button, shrinking down someone's avatar is probably the obvious thing to do.

The "Chat" text link should be speech bubbles I think, that would take up less space, and is universally recognised.

Sorry, first of all my vote went into the wrong box, I meant for it to go to,
'Biased wording in polls is sketchy', it all became confusing for me, I saw
'Super' and thought supper, I am hungry.

How about this as an icon. You.

Reminds me of the call to arms posters, and I abhor war. Sorry!
And change the existing smaller head and shoulders, to several behind each other, indicating friends?
I find clicking on the cog, and then profile, a little clumsy.

Should we add a new icon in the header to go directly to your profile?

If yes, suggestions for the look of it are welcome.
It now looks a lot better on the bottom of the front page.

With what MF and SP have mentioned, instead of distorting the image, perhaps the best option, instead of lots of complicated coding, is either:

a) Members have to upload a square image as their avatar.

b) Members can upload any shaped image they like for their avatar, but a square selection tool is superimposed on it, so they can choose which square area of the image to use as their avatar. That should be able to be resized to any size square.

Anything else would be too complicated to code I think.
Every site you go to like FB, Goodreads etc, fill up all the white space, and make the avatars of a uniform size. It's common sense to not want portrait and landscape avatars throwing the site design out all over the place.

It doesn't matter to you, you're a cartoon, and can be made into any shape!

A "must read" reference book for all budding writers of any genre.

I have a copy in my bookcase. You can grab it online free, here.

Asserting that one must first know the rules to break them, this classic reference book is a must-have for any student and conscientious writer. Intended for use in which the practice of composition is combined with the study of literature, it gives in brief space the principal requirements of plain English style and concentrates attention on the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated.
I'd fill up the 100 x 100 space entirely. Then it's up to the member to change it if it looks odd.

The reason being, it should look uniform. This doesn't look good at all:

Thanks Shylass! I'd like the stats to be more prominent too. I've made Gav aware.
It's best not to have videos of children on a site like this, regardless of the subject matter.

I've linked to it instead.

YAY us.

Thanks!

Your sig shows 2 broken images btw.
I hate their, "Win erotic story competitions in 3 easy steps" plugin
That's quite some milestone!

A huge thank you to everyone who has published with us over the years. You make this community, what it is today, the best erotica site on the web.

Bottoms up!

Many members shy away from entering, and shouldn't. Perhaps offer a few free upgrades or memberships, on a luck of the draw, to anyone who enters a comp. Excluding the winners, of course.

Good idea.

This latest competition was a particularly challenging one, and we've had far fewer entries than usual.

I think the last competition we had close to 100 entries (from memory), so we're getting good numbers entering usually.

It's a consideration for future competitions.
I've been through this this year, and ended up installing Win 8.1 instead in the end (which fixed all the problems).

Gav recommended hijackthis to me in the past, when I had some nasties (free, but a little complicated).

If I were you, I'd get your money back on malwarebytes, the free version is fine. Just say it didn't fix your problem and you'd like a refund.

Can you post a screenshot of everything running as SP mentioned? You'll probably need to take a few screenshots from the sound of things.

If things have gone really pear-shaped, you can usually recover the laptop using system restore, and choosing a restore point from a while ago, when you know things were working well.
My mother has started keeping chickens, and learnt from the farmer who sold her them, that supermarkets typically store eggs for 6 weeks (refrigerated I guess), before they hit the shelves, and are still called "fresh".

I store mine at room temperature. If they are within a few days old (a week in colder weather), you can quite safely use them for carbonara sauce (mix a few raw eggs with parmesan if there are 2-3 of you, pour on to the just cooked pasta and stir through for a short while), instead of making a full-on white sauce (who needs all that flour / gluten in their body?).

I have a Japanese friend who sends me some good ingredients quite often. Bonito shavings (Katsuobushi) mixed into raw egg, with a splash of soy sauce, and then mixed into freshly cooked rice, makes for a delicious breakfast.

Bottom line, unless your climate is really hot, I'd not worry about keeping eggs in the fridge. And buy them directly from a farm if you have a local supplier.

SyFy still pisses me off.

lol. They'd be owned by NBC, and nothing to do with google.

Or were you talking about a rebranded logo of theirs?

How many hours of focus groups, brainstorming, out-of-the-box thinking, and other corporate twattery do you think that cost them? Hmmmm?

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, if the total cost of the redesign, and rollout, will end up, at least 8 figures.

There have been some amusing rebranding failures over the years, here are a few (I'm not saying this one will be!).
The site should now be fully operational.

There were close to 5,000 backed up "jobs" on the server to process, thanks to the hosting company cock-up. Those have now been cleared I've been told.

Thank you for your patience and understanding everyone. Unfortunately, these things (occasionally) happen.

The Moderator of the Month Award for August goes to a lovely lass, who's been demolishing the story verification queue for many months now.

A huge thank you for your efforts, Echelon

Have fun shopping!
We were down for around 12 hours yesterday, thanks to a mistake over a software licence made by our hosting company.

I was more than a little peeved at the slowness of their response.

Apologies to everyone who couldn't enjoy their LS Sunfay fix.
