Evening all. I'm a bit jealous of all you folks with inspiration. I never get further than the start of a story and then my inspiration dries up. Maybe the right kind of moisturizer helps. Barkeep, dk you still have that bottle of Gorilla Killah? I'll have one of those, straight please.

How can forcing someone to do a thing against their wish be consensual?[/quote

You don't make the rules, boy. That's Nicola's job. Please take you're single minded views elsewhere. There is no tolerance for that here. We have a liberal point of view.

You don't make the rules either nor do you have a say in what I can and cannot say on this site.

The official definition of liberal is this: willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.

Shunning people's sexual preferences goes against everything this site stands for. Tolerance is the key. Even if you think someone's opinion is wrong, you have to accept it, you have to tolerate it. Either this site is liberal, or not. I'm still waiting for an answer.

Wrong! This site clearly stands for consent and the policy is to keep it that way.

Although I still wonder how a category with the following text in its description fits in that.
Quote by description of the mind control category

For example, a person may not wish to be servile to another, but might be forced to kneel down in front of them (and perform various "services"), in a case of mind over matter.

How can forcing someone to do a thing against their wish be consensual?
Like I said before, it's not about liking or disliking mind control stories. I still have one question. With any form of consensual sex, even the harshest forms of BDSM, it must be possible to withdraw that consent at any time. How do you envision that when mind control is applied?

If you don't feel comfortable reading a story, then please don't read it. If you don't feel comfortable viewing a particular category, then please block it.

Sheesh. I wonder if murder mystery writers generate this much debate

It's not about being comfortable reading something, it's about whether or not the mind control category meets lush's standard that all sex described here must be consensual. In my opinion it does not.

I understand what you are saying patokl.

However, see Buz's 4th post in this thread. I think he sums it up well.

There's a big difference between hypnotising someone who secretly wanted to give you a blowjob, for example, and someone.

It's a fine line. One for the verifiers to make calls on.

I disagree. Buz speaks of hypnosis and what he basically says is, that a hypnotised person doesn't lose control. In other words, hypnosis does not control the mind. Most hypnotist and psychologists would agree with that.

The definition of control in this context is "to have power over" (Merriam-Webster). Mind control, regardless of the used technique, means to have power over a mind, in other words, over the way a person thinks, behaves and decides. Anything a person does as a result of mind control is done because the one controlling the mind made them do it, not because they chose to do it. Even if the controlled person had a latent desire to do it, they lost the power to decide where, when and with whom. After all, even if a person loves sex, it's still to subject them to it when they're not able to voluntarily and consciously consent. Whether that's because of alcohol, drugs or mind control is in my humble opinion irrelevant.
I'm here alright. I'll take that Gorilla Killah without the coke please. Rhum-cola makes me sick. Congrats with your EPs to you and Flyn btw. I'm cstching up on a backlog of some 577 stories, but I'm sure I'll get to them some day.

It makes sense as a site owner, to look at your competitors once in a while, and make sure you are offering surfers / members, what a lot of them want. There's no desperation to it at all. It's common business practice. We went a step further, and decided to throw some new categories into the mix, to make the site more interesting, and draw in a wider audience.

For anyone who is wondering how much credibility "BigGarrett" has, this is the question he posted previously, under his "TabbysTales" username (which was deleted):

You'll need to zoom in to read it - or just go here: https://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postsm2799257_Can-my-story-feature-a-mother-teaching-her-daughter.aspx

Seems to have a bee in his bonnet about the Fantasies section, and our ruling on a story he was proposing.

Yawn.

Let's keep on topic shall we?

Yes, it's a contentious category. Will it stay? Yes.

This wasn't supposed to be open for discussion from the start.

If the category becomes really problematic, we'll readdress, as we always do.

As much as I dislike BigGarett's tone, he is right about one thing: with the introduction of the mind control category lush abandons its stance about consent. If I control your mind, you don't, and if you have no control over your own mind, you cannot consent to anything. That means that having sex with someone whose mind is controlled is essentially . Allowing one form of will make refusing other forms of nonconsensual sex i.e. seem hypocritical. How do you see this?
Howdy folks! Barman, I'm in need of a stiff drink. What can you recommend?

I wasn't attempting to knock the site. I was merely stating a fact. It's like a ghost town on here compared to a few years ago. It's evident in all sections of the site.

Something doesn't add up with what you say. Over the past 4 years, this site has taken a hardline stance against anything to do with and non-consent stories. Even imposing a complete ban on even spelling the words out. So why make the drastic decision to introduce and non-consent with the mind control category, knowing full well that all your long-standing members will be offended by it?

It's either a desperate attempt to increase traffic, or a successful attempt at pissing off all the long-serving members of the site.

Your assumptions are based on nothing. Nicola made it perfectly clear why the category was reinstated. And while there where members who objected and even one or two left, there were also members who were pleased. The most common reaction was from members, who didn't like it, but understood and accepted the necessity.

As for the mind control category, opinions differ about it being about non-consent. Regardless of my opinion, the discussion about that is still open.

Anyhow, your assessment that Nicola offended all the longstanding members by the introduction is wrong, of that I'm sure.

I accidentally scored a story lower than I intended to. I wish to change that, but the change option on the story's page isn't working for me. I'm on android and I've tried several browsers, all with th same result; tapping change has no effect.
Yes, and it will probably take some time, so you'd better cancel all your appointments

Miserable! I’m catching a cold and I feel awful. Just praying that I get well enough for chemo on Tuesday

I hope you'll feel better soon.
Granted. You'll have years of 668 days in the near future and those days will be a bit longer too. You'll have a leapyear on every uneven year and on every year that ends with zero, except for the years that end with 000 or 500. The downside is, that all of that will be the result of the fact that you took a one way trip to Mars as the first pioneer of the Mars-One project

I wish I could have a Christmas tree
Roses are red
The Christmas tree's up
The house smells of glühwein
Please pour me a cup

I linger a little
Near the mistletoe
Just hoping to catch you
When you pass below

For I want to kiss you
And hold you real tight
And perhaps share our warmth
In the cold winter night

For instance, if a person under no circumstances would be not be servile and kneel down and give a blow job, no amount of mind control will make them do it. Because that is way beyond their character. But if they do do it, then deep down they've harbored the desire to. The mind control brings that out. It is a latent part of their character.

There can be a host of reasons someone suppresses their desires such as peer pressure, religion, social standing, corporate hierarchy, etc. But deep inside those are things that they could do, so mind control brings that to the service.

It's the same concept as the prudish librarian that under the right circumstance becomes a sexual dynamo.

If we as story verifiers determine that a storyline and action in this genre is being written as , we'll reject that.

I can't explain it any better. The description of Mind Control that goes with the category seems to make perfect sense to me. If anyone doesn't understand the category or finds it repulsive, then they should avoid it. There are categories I do not write in because I wouldn't enjoy it. Just use common sense.

If someone desires an Omnium Badge enough to force themselves to write in all categories, even if they don't like them, then they've earned the Badge, at least until we add another category. Sorry, that's just how it is. It's actually a pretty good representation of how real life works.

I disagree. Even if the willingness to do something is a latent part of someone's character, only that person has the right to determine if, when, where and with whom that will be enacted. Many women love to have sex, yet to subject then to it when they have no control over their mind, for instance when they're drugged or drunk, is considered . Mind control takes away the ability to say no at least as much as alcohol and drugs do. Even when someone loves sex, subjecting them to it without their conscious consent is , no matter how you twist it.

The only way mind control would be acceptable, is when the subject explicitly consents to performing sexual acts under mind control, before that control is applied.

Edit:
Mind control can be defined as a coercive process to get an individual to think or act a certain way by impairing their ability to think independently. The idea is that it’s possible to manipulate an individual’s thinking, behavior, emotions or decisions through outside sources without their consent or intended cooperation. This is specifically achieved through indoctrination, removal of choices, physical confinement, drugs, etc.

Hypnosis is NOT “mind control” because it’s not a coercive process. Subjects have to cooperate with the hypnotist and remain aware or their actions. That you cannot make someone commit a violent crime under hypnosis however is a myth. First of all hypnosis CAN lower inhibitions (just like alcohol btw) and secondly, the subject might have little or no inhibitions about taking a life to begin with.

From a bbc article about hypnosis in psychological research
In the beginning of the 20th century two of the most prominent doctors in France, Jean-Martin Charcot, now considered the “founder of modern neurology”, and Georges Gilles de la Tourette, who is most famous for the disease that bears his name were studying cases of “hysteria” – in which patients were suddenly unable to feel or move their limbs, for instance, despite no observable injury. Both doctors believed that the disorders might share certain characteristics with hypnosis – a hypothesis they tested by showing that people with hysteria are more susceptible to suggestion than healthy subjects.
They soon veered into less reputable territory, however. At the time, newspapers reported tales of criminals “mesmerising” innocent people to carry out nefarious deeds. Despite his scepticism about the reports, Gilles de la Tourette decided to hypnotise a hysterical patient, Blanche, to see if it might be possible. Placing her in a trance, he showed Blanche a ‘poisoned’ glass of beer and asked to feed the poison to another man, known as Mr G. Blanche happily complied, kissing Mr G as she did so, before he feigned death. She later denied all knowledge of the apparent murder.
