I've been doing it for years. I do it when I don't want to dirty up things or if I don't have anything to dirty up. I only do it when I'm masturbating. The only benefit I see is it can keep things cleaner. No downfalls so far. I enjoy letting my fluids loose though so I prefer not to if I don't have to.
