Well, if it's just a popularity contest, then I expect I'll not be getting very high scores. I won't kiss ass just to get higher scores. My work should speak for itself, I would think. And I agree, the comments are always more important to me than scores. I want to know that people like what I create, but I also want to know what they liked about it. "Score-whore," that's funny!

What is a good score? At what point should I think that my story isn't scoring well or is scoring outrageously good? I've seen some with scores in the forties, so I want to set myself a goal of hitting that high mark, but I'd like to still be proud of a score in the teens...unless that's still a low score by community standards. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of every story I write, even the ones I can't post here, and I'm not writing just for the accolades or attaboys. I write because I can't NOT write. When I don't feel like doing anything else, I still want to write. All the same, I still crave validation as a writer, just like any writer does whether he or she admits it or not. So...what's a good score to be proud of?

Can you write a good murder mystery if you've never killed anyone before? Can you write a story about visiting a distant planet even if the laws of physics prohibit faster than light travel? If you are capable of empathizing with other humans, then you are capable of writing any story in any genre. Write what you know. You might not know exactly what it feels like to be inside a woman, but you can imagine the emotions you would feel when making love to her. Concentrate on that. Instead of filling your story with detailed descriptions of actions you might not be comfortable describing, write instead about the characters feel inside. Wonder, excitement. fear, disappointment, or anything you think they would feel. Sex stories don't have to be a how-to manual for fucking. Use what you know, any experience you have, and expand upon it. Read what others have written about it. Use your fantasies. And stop worrying! Write from the heart, and you'll do just fine.

In dialog, it should depend upon the character's belief entirely. If the character is the type of person who would capitalize "God" then that's how you, as the author, should write it. If the character would opt instead for the lower-case "god" then that's what should be used. Dialog is dependent upon the character in all cases. Higher educated characters might be less likely to use contractions, whereas some characters might always use contractions or slang. The same is true for what the character would think about elevating. Such as "God" over "god" or the other way around. The same holds true for the character's thoughts, whether in quotations or not.

In narrative, then it should be a matter of author's choice. Which one best fits the tone of the work? A story meant to be irreverent would probably not exalt a deity with a capitalization. Ultimately, it's not about showing respect to your faith or promoting a particular view of religious belief, it's about the story. It's always about the story.

This is Asimo, an incredible little robot created by Honda (yeah, Honda!). There's a larger version of the robot called the P3 (check out the wikipedia page for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASIMO ). There are lots of videos of Asimo on YouTube, but I like this one best because the little guy is dancing to a beat and shaking his thing (or her thing, depending on your preference of pronoun for non-living things).

I've always believed that love is forever. We fall in love with a person who exists in a particular space and time, and as more time passes that person changes. We all do. It can't be stopped. The trick is to love the person they become. If you loved something particular about a person and they change so that what you loved is no longer there, then you feel like you've fallen out of love with that person. The truth is that you just never loved who they have become, and you will always love who they once were. It's why we remember our high school sweethearts so fondly and carry a torch for the ones who dumped us, and why some people feel like their current relationship has dulled or makes them unhappy. To maintain a relationship is to fall in love all over again every day.

The Schofield Kid: [after killing a man for the first time] It don't seem real... how he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever... how he's dead. And the other one too. All on account of pulling a trigger.

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

I'm not sure if she counts as a MILF in real life, but Bellamy Young who plays Mellie Grant on Scandal is one of the hottest women on TV these days, in my opinion!

Dark City has always been one of my most favorites. For once, the director's cut was the better version. Some others that I can't help but watch when I happen upon them are Down Periscope, Star Trek, The Avengers, and Last of the Mohicans.

My daughter and I were in a thrift store one day when she was young, and we spotted some vinyl LPs for sale. She picked up one and happily exclaimed, "Look Daddy, big black CDs!" I felt so old.
