@RowanThorn

Let pander to your feelings..

Laughing out loud.
The anti-Republican Liberals here are hilarious!
Why don't the Liberal supporters here, reach out to SNL, and ask them if you all could do the Cold Opening for their show?
And see if you can't use SNL, to save the United States from the Republicans, and their Oppression of the Liberals here on Lush Stories, and from the rest of the Liberal supporters across the U.S?

repeating posts ad nausaum is usually frowned upon. thanks.

Niners are my hometown team, so of course i'm hopping they win.

Quote by Seeker4

Only heard of them when they did SNL in the Fall. I watched the videos of those performances and then added the album to my library on Amazon Music. I swear that I have come across Phoebe before but couldn't say when or how now. The name just sounded familiar when I was first reading about the band.

They are all solo artists when they're not doing BG. Phoebe is amazing. check out her albums (she has 2) she also opened some of the TS shows.

Hunh. If they're so amazing, why don't they ever perform here?

Wait … I may just have answered my own question. NVMD

Well, it's Moan-day again, so let it all hang out.

Sprite has just polished off another series – I think. It's one I haven't read, so I'm going to have to go back and read at least the first chapter to get a sense of what it's about. Here's the link to the latest chapter if you are au fait on her stuff, which I clearly ain't.

Butterfly Beach XVI: Rebirth

Beyond that, let's get some caffeine for the team –

Lights on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up, and we're ready to rumble.

Tea Kettle is refilled, hot, and steamy. There are pots of Red Rose and English Breakfast teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been desludged, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Today we're using Kick Ass Coffee from Kicking Horse Coffee Roasters – to, you know, give us that extra kick-start to the week.

I've put out donuts for y'all, with Sara's sprinklies set aside with her sports section.

Plus I've got some cinnamon buns out there for some of your sweet ones.

Back with more in a minute … or two.

and thanks for the promotion smile

Metallica got best metal performance. Not surprised but a bit disappointed. Still, "72 Seasons" is a good bit of thrash from a good (but not great) Metallica album so maybe worthy.

I see boygenius (which is actually a supergroup of three women) picked up three trophies. Thumbs-up there. I've only listened to them a bit, but their debut album impressed me.

Boy Genius is amazing, both as a group and as solo artists. Phoebe, Julian. and Lucy are amazing. So happy they won.

That's the meat and potatoes. On to things that most of you may or may not care about and that's fine. Some of you know that I have been doing music lately. Like I have a band and play the occasional gigs. I shared this story with my partner in crime. Sort of in his wheelhouse with are shared love of weird pulp fiction shit and electronic noises and... so... we started mapping out a chapter by chapter "soundtrack for it and I started writing a PG version to go along with it. It's pretty embryonic at this stage, but i figure we have a long time to realize it. lol Wish me luck!

Oscar season meane we try to watch ALL the films with nominations in ANYthing. Last night was Nyad which was amazing. Annette Benning as Dianna Nyad who swam from Cuba to Florida (107 miles) when she was in her 60s. Jodi Foster was also in it. True story.

Just wondering if comp results were still on track for Monday? smile Many inquiring minds would like to know…

yes.

I am very new to this, is it normal to be terrified of learning just how sadistic and depraved I can be? The empath in me is really struggling to acknowledge how I can enjoy inflicting cruelty and suffering on others. It genuinely terrifies me how deep my sadism runs

hI, Naievity. welcome to the forum. is it normal, you ask. unless you're a monster, then yes, it is. the desire to inflict pain on someone vs the actuality of doing it are two different things. having empathy is good - it will keep you from going too far. i'm a masochist. i like pain. people like me will push at people like you to inflict it. the thing is, you need to set the limits of what you are comfortable with and then "learn" how far you can go with an individual to satisfy both your needs. i am partnered with a woman who is a sadist. it's kind of a checks and balance system for us.

my advice. take it slow and in increments with a partner. when you 'hurt' them talk about it afterwards. communication is key. was that too much for them? not enough? did they want more? did you want more? work out both your limits, and realize that no matter how far you want to go, you have to abide by those limits. thing is, people like me? we enjoy having cruelty and suffering inflicted on us - remember that. and, of course, always use a safeword. smile

feel free to ask more, either here, or in PM. i'm always happy to answer questions.

Yeah, right? I am spending half or more of this week in meetings so when is my actual work supposed to happen?

if you're like me, when you should be sleeping smile

Quote by JamesLlewellyn

Sure. Just go online to Amazon and search for … um, ah … never mind.

But I catch your drift. You snow me!

Good to see you Rach. What can I get you?

more time or a way to give up sleep would be good. that said, the tree is... well... there are some lights and a couple of ornaments on it. tomorrow we're going out to see all the lights which i love and am looking forward to. after that i might sleep a bit lol

we need 10 more hours per day and 3 more days per week. fuck me. hi. happy holiday season from the gloomy northwest. heart

I like Brazilian jiu jitsu and Judo and have trained for several years. It is great knowing how to defend yourself from an unarmed attacker. For self or home defense, owning a firearm is best though

if you're relaying on a gun, you have to make sure you have time to get it/get it out. with MA etc. YOU are the weapon and you're always armed.

fyi. to make it easier on the judges, we've decided to change the maximum word count from 10,000 to 10. thanks for your understanding. happy writing.

Was it successful in forcing North Vietnam back to the negotiations?

the means justifies the end, right? i mean, what's a few thousand lives? it really didn't change anything, despite what you might think. it was just an act of revenge.

Quote by MsStep

I don’t think there’s any explanation you’ll be willing to accept. Hanoi was the capitol of North Vietnam. I’d say the bombing was successful because the peace talks resumed once it ended.

yes, it was. doesn't change the fact that they were still civilians. men. women. children. likely they had nothing to do with the conflict. apparently, you're okay with killing innocents as long as it achieves the desired results. apparently, you have little regard for the lives of others. and yet, you were making a big stink about not being able to give the homeless money for a hamburger. the word psychopath comes to mind. morally bankrupt at best.

Quote by RowanThorn

Keep in mind that in America there were around 120 laws introduced last year restricting LGBTQ rights. Make no mistake, this is the direction America is swinging.

trust me, i am aware.

Quote by MsStep

So now you want the Vietnam war explained to you? As I understand it, the negotiations in Paris between the warring parties had broken down. Nixon nudged the North Vietnamese back to the negotiation table.

yes, please. explain it to me. explain how someone thought murdering over 1600 people was a nudge. then explain how those 1600 people were okay with being murdered. Hanoi was NOT a military target. it was a city. would you be okay with it if we were having peace talks with another nation and they stalled, so someone decided to drop bombs on the city you live in?

LGBT activists are now designated as extremists and so can be imprisoned for participating in an extremist organization. That's serious repression.

good blue print for what some want to see happen in the US too, sadly enough.

what about Festivus?

Quote by krystalg

Good point, but the name, itself, illustrates that Christmas is, fully, a Christian Holiday. The term is derived from the wording "Christ Mass;" other than cribbing all the trappings from paganism, the traditional Christmas Holiday is purely a Christian invention. Non-Christians have their own names for the season—most of them pre-dating Christmas— such as Yule. While a Solstice-based story may not be Christmas-themed, the competition is about the general Holiday season:

"From steamy Thanksgiving orgies to Christmas threesomes to a tantric masturbation sesh to ring in the new year, any and all hot combos of sweaty limb gymnastics are encouraged."

That includes Hanakuh, Kwanza, Bhodi Day, The Chinese New Year, Boxing Day for those in the UK, Los Posadas, the WINTER SOLSTICE and YULE, et al. as the comp guidelines were clearly worded to be inclusive.

And, having been raised in a pagan household, I heartily agree with you. The Winter Solstice has nothing to do with Christmas, but Christmas has everything to do with the Winter Solstice.

what about Festivus?

That Kissinger was working to advance the US’s interests. Not Vietnamese, and not Bengali.

how was it in the US's interests to carpet bomb Hanoi for 2 weeks?
