I suppose this harks back to my question on what they will be worth, but will top tier writers be able to earn the sort of money here to be competitive enough to stop them going elsewhere?

Which then raises another question, will there be restrictions on publishing elsewhere? If so, will there be a way for authors to opt out of the scheme?

And yes, I know to some they may jump all over me as being anti this, just as my reports of bugs in the bugs thread were jumped over as being anti Lush2. NOTHING is further from the truth, would I take all the time to put together a post this long if I were? No, I would just move on. What I want to make sure is that the developers have looked at all possible issues that might arise with this scheme so that it is a good as possible and welcomed as well as possible by all readers and authors alike.

will there be restrictions on publishing elsewhere? easy answer is no (the complex answer is also no).

will the top tier writers be able to earn the same sort of money to be competitive to stop them from going elsewhere? no idea. maybe. won't really know for a while - i left my crystal ball at home smile and if it were me, and i could earn more elsewhere but i was still making a little bit here, i wouldn't leave - it'd just publish in more than one place (that is if my sole motivation for publishing was making cash. that's not everyone's goal. personally, i'm too lazy to try to make money off my stories. it's a lot of work. seriously!)

as for looking at all possible issues, this program has been in the works for a long time now and a lot of thought was put into it - it's not a 'scheme' that was hatched last weekend after several rounds of long island ice teas. smile

How many do that, Georgia, many top-tier writers are still hereabouts? Lol, maybe I'm not on the list, but I've never thought of publishing elsewhere. I came here having published elsewhere and haven't submitted on another site ever since. Most of the writers I know are in the same boat. I just logged up to OnlyFans, it isn't really a story site.

Honestly I write for fun and enter competitions to test myself. The rewards are the validation of my peers, never the money. I concede that there are less comments on stories over the past year, but there is enough feedback for me to keep writing. After all where else would I go. 😊

you're on the list in my book. smile

Given that the idea of the scheme is to reward "authors not performers" why not put the reward in the gift of story moderators?

Ipso facto, anyone submitting a story would have the chance of receiving 'coins'.

first of all, it's not a scheme. when Lance first brought this to my attention it was as an erstwhile effort to reward authors for their work - if there's a scheme involved, it's only to bring more quality writers to the site and incentivize more people to take up the pen/quill/keyboard/chalk etc.

secondly, i don't understand your comment about "putting the reward in the gift of story mods". please elaborate smile

thirdly, anyone submitting a story will have the chance of receiving coins through tips. i thought that was explained in the initial post.

She's not saying the coins would be exchanged in chat. The action being paid for would be done in chat, then the payor would reward them by putting coins on their stories.

I can see other scenarios where this could be abused, too. Not to mention the kind of gameplaying that can happen as people jockey to get coins.

As I said, I'll see how this plays out, but the concerns expressed by utterchaos and some others are not without merit.

anything can be abused. if someone really wants to abuse it, they'll probably figure out a way - our job is to make sure than any one that abuses it gets their hands slapped or what have you. i mean, in the past we had abuses with voting - not that much different, really and, personally, i would rather see a little abuse if it means rewarding some of better and more popular writers. or, really, anyone who writes. smile

Quite. Regular blocks of 8+ hours of downtime were a real usability boon on Lush 1.

how soon we forget - but hey, members liked those. they made it a better site for the users.

Quote by dlcalguy

Yeah I get that. Big benefits for the supportability. But you guys really have to stop trying to sell Lush 2 as a better site for your users. It's really insulting.

what's really insulting is when people suggest our comps are rigged and then ignore requests to back up that accusation with proof.

Can you itemize the benefits, please.

1) you're supporting your fav writers who work very hard and spend lots of time writing stories for your enjoyment and do it for free with little to no praise or acknowledgment.

2) you get to feel good about yourself for supporting your fav writers who work very hard and spend lots of time writing stories for your enjoyment and do it for free with little to no praise or acknowledgment.

3) bragging rights.

4) see #1

Code wise, maybe. Functionality wise it was spot on. Can you itemize the benefits, please.

for you, maybe. for those of us keeping it tacked together with duct tape and bubble gum it was a nightmare. seriously.

fyi, i normally hate VD (valentine's day) so this gives me joy. not sure how good i'd be at writing something dark and twisted though...

puts you on the death list... takes you off the death list that was a close one, dude. be more careful! smile

I sit corrected! Thanks, Rach.

I've been working with someone who works with modular and semi-modular analog synths and learning a lot about electronic music. smile

Well! Two stories by Rumps Regulars – Kat and Ape – to read today! What luxury!

And the caffeination stations are all manned and ready. Or should I say "aped" and ready.

Hmmm…somehow that doesn't sound quite right.

Regardless, thanks, Scott, for the set-up. I'll let Lady Dryad take care of the clean-up, grab a mugh of Earl Grey tea, and repair to Kimmi's Korner for some readin'!

Something a bit quiet to help with a meditative state while I'm reading high-quality smut, perhaps…

Mike Oldfield, one of the early electronic music albums…Tubular Bells…

Great album. Not electronic music though. All the instruments are pretty traditional. If you want to hear actual electronic music, I'd just this:

How about I go in and start "editing" all your stories? ALL of them.

Que Dick Dale playing surf guitar 'Miserlou'

3/4 of a new Alice chapter written. 1/3 of a new Space Girl written. Other than that, fuck all, and it's been since before the holidays i've even touched them. i tend to write like that, though. It's nothing new. in about a month all knock out those and probably 3 more in about a week. lol

and YES. I will reject stories like this. without remorse or guilt or compassion. just be glad i don't start publically shaming you. don't push your luck!

BUMP for all the people who haven't bothered to read it (at least 3 of you based on stories i've rejected in the past hour). I am FUCKING SERIOUS!

** BAD NEWS FLASH **

Kimmi's new kitten, Buttercup, had to be rushed to the vet's this morning with a fever of 107. Vet said it was likely a virus she contracted in the shelter that took time to develop. Prognosis is not good as a fever that high can damage internal organs permanently.

Stay tuned – but we need everyone to offer support and pray for Kimmi & Buttercup!

" babes are any child under the age of 15. I'm sorry I thought you knew that, but you have to agree a 6 year old shooting his teacher IS a baby don't you agree?

not sure why you feel the need to start this conversation in here? i just sort of wanted to post a video of a band that i'm digging on right now not start a conversation about racism and police brutality. am i not allowed to do that? last time i posted something political here it didn't go over well, so i'm staying away from all that.

It's easy to blame Da Man as you turn your back to "babies killing babies" in the streets. SMH

Huh? Babies don't normally have the strength to pull triggers. and their aim is probably suspect at best.
