That cant be it, you piss me off and I still gave you high scores on the stories I've read.

I have a place not far from punxsutawney, been there quite a few times, pretty cool stuff.

Coffee please.

Obviously I've been slacking then .smile
Low scores. You get them for all kind of reasons and they used to bother me. And then I stopped caring. I have my share of 1,2,3 scores too. Guessing they are from people I pissed off. I do that here s lot. Lol.
sorry, but i can't stop lauging right now. when (if) i do, iI'll try to think of a solution. or not.
don't have the game on and be paying more attention to Tom Brady than you are my pussy, please. how's that? biggrin

Friends, I am having a problem with at least one of my story series: A Slut's Life, the autobiography I'm co-writing with Nika S. (I'm helping her because English is not her first language.) And it may be that my issue is even more widespread.

Someone is leaving low scores, apparently deliberately, specifically 2's for my stories. This seems to me to be a deliberate effort to drag the average scores down. This also happened with Bonnie's Big Gangbang.

At first, I thought it was just one story, or just one series, or just one person, but a new story, published just this afternoon, "Naked Slave", has received 4 scores so far, two of them 5's, and two of them 2's.

I doubt that this is due to someone reading all the way through a story, and then deciding they don't like it. Most people in that situation just don't finish the story, and don't bother to rate it.

And somehow I doubt if it's just that I've written bad stories. This seems too deliberate. Perhaps I've offended someone.

I really don't mind for my own stories. I'm not writing for scores or ratings or even comments (although some of the comments, typically by friends, are a hoot!), I'm writing for my own pleasure, and if I can please some friends and others along the way, so much the better.

But this is not fair to Nika. She has put a lot of work into her story, and some of the things she has revealed to me are heart-rending, and won't make their way into the story at all. She is a complex woman whom I have come to admire greatly.

I recall that Kistin had this problem a while back.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

James

i'll put my top notch team of sleuths (my cats) on it and see what i can dig up. give me a few days - they take a lot of herding, but yeah, if someone is consistently dropping 2s on you out of spite, i'll get to the bottom of it.

Come to think of it, I did see Sprite earlier, walking around with a big pink pearl eraser...

Have the Ninja, assassin kitties been brought in?

stomps into bar, plops ass down with thump Grrrrrr! Kimmi is mad! I posted a thoughtful forum topic in Authors heading asking if peeps thought female authors got more attention on Lush than male authors and a man named "GreyMadder" said it didn't matter as all stories are bad on here. Grrrrrrrr!!

I get my knickers in a bunch when people do sh*t just to spread negative energy around. What type of peep pops on a thread they obviously had no stake in just to make a rude comment?

Barkeep, an ice cold water please, to calm Kimmi back down.

I hope the rest of you are enjoying your Sunday

he's been posting a lot of similar things around the board and has earned himself a spot on my radar so i wouldn't worry about him too much. smile

Let's hope more get lost.

i must have missed the memo about this being 'national be a prick week'. Thanks for the reminder.

Extra kisses for you Sprite (and anything else you might want, as long as you don't leave marks like last time)

sorry, but in my defense, i never once heard a safe word.
i hope you know that we're very happy (and lucky) to have you here. you keeping doing you, Kistin.
never thought to check until now. 984. not bad, right? okay, just need to bully 16 more people into following and i'm good. smile
i never use any and i rarely/never pick a story to read based on artwork. in fact, sometimes the artwork will steer me away from a story if it looks kind of cheesy.

Awww, you are so cute. Sit beside me, please!

I am not cute. I am the greatest poet that ever lived and my magnificence is known far and wide. I am, however, magnanimous and forgiving. To honor my return I shall gift you all with a verse of heart-rending beauty.

The Image of God in the Mirror

I am more beautiful than even God and my words are like diamonds cast among the peasants
When I utter but a single word all fall to their knees and sing me songs of praise
Even the stupid blond girl who cleans my box is not immune to my unearthly creations
For she too is overcome and speechless with wonder when I recite but a simple verse
But no one else truly knows the truth of terrible load I bear
The relentless weight of being me
No matter how far and wide I have searched
There is no one who matches my magnificence
No one who deserves my love as much as I do
No one who understands how much the world's greatest poet suffers
Forced to walk amongst talentless hacks
And feeble minds who have yet to realize my divinity
Alone.
Hear the song of my people and remember.

Cleo El Gato,
The Greatest Poet who has ever lived.

Hugs Michelle glad you are enjoying a taste of down under. Next one I have referenced (as I have with Great Southern Land) in my writing. Men at work's Down Under.

huge fan of Midnight Oil, btw. got a chance to see them a few years back and have always loved their music and their ideology. new band, btw, growing quite a following over the past several years and putting out multiple albums yearly, and yes, they are Australian.

as always, thank you and much appreciated. for those not familiar with how things run with our story mods, verifying is just part of the process. Rupert is also tasked with tracking down and spanking any mods who happen to wander off during busy times. Poor guys got one arm that's twice the size of the other now. well, i think that's from spanking bottoms... or spanking something... ;)

seriously, you're a superstar. appreciate your hard work so much.

lol you wrote that much. do the rest. we got tons of musicians floating around the site. shouldn't be hard. smile

Similar to Saucy I have a few friends who know but not my nom de plume. I did let one of the girls at work read a couple of my stories. Yes, I did have ulterior motives.

did it work? did she let you touch her bewbie?

Afternoon everyone.. it must be beer time

I've just written a new story which may or may not be to some tastes. I even wrote my own punk song for it as you can't quote song lyrics in a story. A word of warning, the word cunt does appear in it quite a bit.

So if a lesbian hookup up between a redheaded Scottish Journalist and the Korean singer of a band who writes love songs called Cunt sounds like your cup of tea, here's the link..

Cheers everyone

you should put music to it and post the chords and see if you can get someone to record it. smile

Now about that new kitten and HER name. In the movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' wasn't Holly Golightly's feline named, 'Cat'?

yes, and one of my favorite movies ever. heart today was a good day. in love with Amanda Gorman. Not even saying how many times I've watched her reading now.

You could, but to clarify why we ask you not to do this: the moderation queue only shows one story per author at a time. The earliest submission by each author is listed.

Let's say Moderator A grabs chapter 1 of your story, locks it, reads it, realises something is amiss and needs to return it to you for a little editing. They write a nice note, maybe edit it a tad to demonstrate an example, or highlight some things you should focus on.

Moderator A hits the 'return to author' button and the screen refreshes back to the top of the list. Unbeknown to Moderator A, the second story by you automatically pops in lower down the queue (just below where your first entry appeared, very likely).

Moderator A goes for lunch.

Moderator B combs the list and sees your second chapter. Locks it, reads it, sees everything is fine and approves it.

Ooops, you now have chapter 2 on the site, with no chapter 1.

Although this applies specifically to multi-chapter stories, we do ask that authors refrain from stuffing the queue with multiple stories for another reason. Our queue counter in the menu bar shows the quantity of all submissions in the queue, not just the first one by each author that we can actually see.

What happens then is that we log in, see (for example) there are 69 stories in the queue, but there are only 59 in the list because one (or more) authors have stuffed multiple stories in, making up the remaining 10 we can't see. This has a double psychological impact on moderators:

1. "Sheesh, this queue is relentless!"
2. (after approving/returning an entry). "Why has the counter not gone down by 1? ... Aaargh!"

Spacing them out also means that your stories aren't clustered together on the front page, not giving other authors a fair chance to appear there. Although there's an enforced 24-hour timeout between stories by the same author, if you happen to have one story posted daily when the queue is otherwise slowly being chipped away, what you're effectively doing is accelerating your own previous story off the front page! For that reason alone, I usually suggest to authors to space them apart a little. It gives your story the maximum amount of time on the front page. Gives readers time to digest it. And, if it's a multi-chapter event, allows more people to eagerly anticipate the next part.

Nothing to stop you, as you say, putting multiple stories in your drafts and working on them. Just please don't push them to the queue en masse.

The amount of work that goes into moderating is considerable, which is why we ask authors to make any edits in returned stories within the Lush editor (from your avatar->My Stories->Edit). That way, when you resubmit:

a. We then only see the changes you made, not the entire thing. Makes it faster to skim through and see what's been done.
b. The moderator notes are retained so the next moderator knows what to look out for. Again, faster.
c. You retain your place in the queue and don't get shoved back in at the bottom. Less wait time for you.

Authors who paste in a fresh copy from their word processor run the risk of the entire story being flagged as "different" from last time (it does that occasionally), which means a moderator needs to read the whole piece again, slowing the submission process down for you and everyone else. Worse, authors that delete their story then resubmit a new version appear at the bottom of the queue, obliterate the moderator comments, obliterate any edits the moderator kindly did, force someone to re-read the entire piece, and make us consider sending round those Ukrainians that sprite mentioned.

Hope that's useful.

Translation: one story at a time, please. ?

I've been scribbling away and I have a few tales I'd like to submit for verification.

I assume if I was very naughty I'd just throw them all in the publish queue and wait for them to be verified.

I also assume I can have as many stories as I like in *my* queue as long as I don't actually submit more then 1 or possibly 2 if they're short every day or so.

Is this the proper Lush way to do it?

One at a time please or we send our ukranians after you.
