Is there a way authors can know how long the current approval times are?

Sadly not really. It varies.

We swam with the neighbors after church but it was too effin’ hot for the beach this afternoon. We went to a movie that really sucked but it started to storm during the middle of the show so we stayed, ate popcorn 🍿and stayed cool.

I have a story started for the SS comp but it's going nowhere fast. It seems like I can't write without my kitty walking across my laptop or snuggling next to me with her paws on my leg. Sighs. It’ll get better.

My furry girl in her healthier days. She loved looking out over her kingdom! (Mama, why are there people playing volleyball in that giant sandbox? 😹)

RIP my sweet Chessie. She had the softest fur of any cat I've ever known. It was great for burying my face in and drying tears on. 😻🐾

I felt sorry for them.

FYI... This (non) news story was also covered on the main national BBC 10 o'clock news, covering the whole of the UK.

I am finding it hard to feel sorry for them. To cheat openly and brazenly attend a very public event where cameras are present means they either didn't care about their spouse’s feelings or were subconsciously trying to get caught or were just plain stupid. I know that sounds harsh but come on! Even when we were big into the open marriage thing, we never put ourselves in situations where our families could be embarrassed.

I feel sorry for their families. These are rich people behaving as though their actions have no consequences and their families deserve better.

Thanks for the vibes and the cuppycakes. Its been a tough morning. But having the vet come to us was the best thing we could have done. It was a peaceful way to say goodbye to our furry girl.

In my opinion, rejected stories waste everyone’s time and should rarely happen. We all can read the site rules, so let’s submit stories that follow them. We can all run spell and grammar checks before submitting, right?

And Her Royal Spriteness has told us all more than once that this is a sex site, so submit something with sex in it. smile

Maybe don’t submit every day if you know the queue is backed up. Ask yourself what if every author did that.

I don’t think it’s just up to the mods to keep wait times down. It’s up to the authors, too.

Take AI-written stories elsewhere, please! The mods know who you are! Not fair to steal queue spots from the authors who pour their heart, soul, sweat, and tears into their stories.

bolt

Amen! I grow frustrated when I've spent time reviewing a story, give meaningful advice with my return to the author, and have them submit the story again with many issues still unresolved. People SHOULD know the rules, but even if they didn't bother to read before the first submission, after the return with specific things to fix, it should be a no-brainer.

I never mind working with an author who is truly making an effort to make corrections and appreciates my time. But it seems like there are folks who just think we mods should approve their stories with the plethora of mistakes because “who really cares if my verb tenses agree?”

It's disheartening to spend time on an 8-10k word story only to have the author say, “Thanks but I don't feel the need to fix what you call mistakes. I will just submit my story on another site.” 😳

We don't expect stories to be perfect. We do overlook mistakes here and there if they don't detract from the story. Its an erotic story site, not an English 300 level essay. But when people keep submitting stories with the same mistakes, it makes the whole process slow down for everyone.

Back in the day, there was a 24-hour waiting period before authors could submit another story. We've been asking authors to do this voluntarily to help keep the queue more manageable.

As for the worry that people will lose interest in a series while they wait for the next part, many authors engage with their readers during the wait with teasers or asking them to check out other stories of theirs. I do this a lot. And its fun to see an older story read by new eyes!

Anyway, thanks, Kimmi, for being the voice of reason. I know authors get frustrated when they have to wait, but you're right! Careful proofreading and attention to detail BEFORE a story is submitted helps move things along for everyone. 💋Kat

I won't like your post, Kat, because it is sad. Instead, have a big hug from across the Atlantic. (HUG) 😘

But I will LIKE yours because I appreciate the big hug!

I need the biggest wine glass we have filled with Moscato. Fuck it, just give me the bottle, please, and thank you.

We made the decision today to have the vet come to our home and help our furry girl cross over the rainbow bridge. At 20 years old, arthritis and thyroid issues have finally diminished her quality of life to the point where we think this is the kindest thing we can do for her. It SUCKS because she has always been my cuddle bug, even though she dislikes most people in general. My grown adult kids are sad; she was their first family pet. I'm grateful that we were able to get an appointment for tomorrow morning. The vet will come and sedate her, and she can lie on my lap while she passes away. They will take her and cremate her, and I will have a lovely little urn to keep on my shelf to remind me what a loyal little furball she was.

Thanks for letting me grieve the loss of a pet. Seems silly, but when my hubby used to travel 200+ days per year, she kept me company. She looks pissed off in this picture, which was how she looked a lot of the time. LOL. But she sleeps next to my pillow every night, and I will miss her terribly.

We tried to rewatch Blazing Saddles recently and didn't finish it. Parts were still funny. But some parts were uncomfortable. They definitely could NOT make that movie today. Lol!

But I don't get offended by stuff like that. Just like FB or , just keep scrolling. 😎

Dress shopping was a bust yesterday. Mostly because of my bust! Lol. Actually the biggest challenge has been finding a dress in the color palette my daughter has chosen that either isn't too light, doesn't clash with my red hair, or doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress.

Having finally dropped my pandemic weight gain, I thought this would be an easier task. And it would be… if not for the color palette requirement. But it's her special day, so I will keep searching until I find a dress that meets all the requirements and suits us both. One of the shops I went to told me the fall colors come out next month. I may just have to wait a bit and try again.

My oldest sister (who moved to Florida 10 years before I did) lived in Plymouth once upon a time, though her most recent home in Michigan was in Canton (which is very close to Plymouth). We are both flying up to Michigan next week for my daughter's shower. In fact ALL of the sisters will be together for the first time in quite some time. I'm looking forward to that. And finding a dress for the shower was easy…because I could pick blue. Lol!

Just a Coke Zero for me. Hitting the gym soon. Need a lil cold caffeine to get me up and at ‘em. Happy Thirsty Thursday all y’all!

In Detroit, the night before Halloween (October 30th) was once notoriously known as 🔥Devil's Night, characterized by widespread arson.

I know you didn't participate or did you Kat?

😄🔥😄

It was indeed called Devil’s Night. I did NOT participate. And we didn't have much trouble in my area. I was fortunate enough to live on the west side of Detroit near Dearborn Heights. It was a nice, relatively quiet neighborhood with lots of police and fire fighters since there was a residency requirement at that time. Probably one of the safest parts of Detroit. My son bought the house I grew up in from my dad’s estate. Then he sold it to one of his frat brothers. So I can still visit the house when I'm in town if I want to. 😎 There is no longer a residency requirement, but its still pretty quiet.

Superman, which is sweet, intelligent and too much fun. Rachel Brosnahan was the perfect Lois Lane, Mister Teriffic was exactly that, and Krypto a true scene stealer. I haven't had this much fun at a superhero flick since Tony Stark took the Avengers out for Schwarma.

Ditto!

did you all know that Toronto is closer to the Equator than the North Pole?

I DID know that. But its funny to think about since the 45th parallel runs through Alpena in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Most people don't realize that the first country south of the US is actually Canada. And that there is no South Detroit as Steve Perry sings in Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. My friends and I would sing “Windsor!” after that line. (yes I'm a former Detroit girl - born and raised there)

Just some tea. I'm off to the gym. Then a shower and off to the mall to continue my MOB dress shopping. 🥰

On your Paris story, both parts were hot, but I see that you only had around 60% of the views for the second part over the first. Give it time; it may catch up to part one. There are a lot of variables in play when one story gets more attention than another. I think we both know that.

I'm not going to list them, but one often overlooked factor (the admins might not agree) is how long your story was on the front page. If it stalls there between moderator shifts, you will pick up many extra views and some likes/comments. Can you recall whether there was a significant time difference between the two?

Honestly, being on the front page doesn't always guarantee more likes and views in my experience. I've had stories sit on the front page all day, and they don't necessarily do any better than one that gets bumped to page two in an hour or two. It seems like a crap shoot at times whether readers will actually bother to read a part two or three beyond the regular readers/friends/followers. That often has more to do with it than anything else.

That seems like a day to avoid for any kind of event like that given how much is going on but I guess there is also a romantic element to getting married on the last day of the year. My mother was born on New Year's Eve so we celebrated her birthday with dinner then the New Year later.

Good morning. Air quality warnings are lifted here but the heat continues. Supposed to cool down by the weekend.

I am working on a story for the SS comp and contemplating more Paris. Though with the reaction to part two being rather muted, I think I would try to make it standalone rather than tying it too tightly to the original two-parter.

Paris Part Two was 🔥🔥🔥! People just need to read it!

I've put out some buttercreme cuppycakes with Kat in mind.

Plus I've got some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, just because.

Coke Zero in the fridge, a frosted pitcher of lemonade, and all's right with the bar.

All my favorites! Thanks Bear!

Done at the gym, just got my car washed, now its home to shower and get ready for shopping and lunch in Dunedin with the gals. Hoping to find a cute dress for my daughter's shower. 🤞

I'm still looking for that elusive Mother of the Bride dress that is a hue that fits in my daughter’s color palette. 😳 It's HER special day, so I will go to the ends of the earth to find a dress she approves of. Sadly the blues and purples that I look good in are not on the list. Ah well. She's worth the effort 🥰

Have a great day, all y’all.

Morning BEAR

Thanks I'm moving a wee slower today after my weekend birthday blow out

Happy belated Birthday to my favorite Lion!

Quote by JamesLlewellyn

Thank you for the setup, Lion!

Market day, and Kimmi's Krew in Store Room #4 are eating us out of house and bar!

Kimmi, your BAR BILL is gonna be eye-popping this quarter!

And that dragon – I'm gonna charge extra for cleaning up, Milik.

Hmm…I wonder if I can charge the kids that were eaten as dragon food…

See y'all later!

Take care out there, 'K?

Sorry, I meant to come back and tidy up after the dragon yesterday but I got distracted. You can put those extra charges on my tab.

Remember when I said my part in overseeing renovations was done? Lol. Yeah, I was wrong. I completely forgot about the curbing for the plant beds in the front of the building. I managed to catch the contractor just in time by a stroke of luck two days ago as he was about to make the three “island” beds too big. I didn't even know he was showing up that day. 😳

And I'm still waiting on the estimate from the landscaper for how much it's going to cost to fill 10 planters to put in the pool deck area.

A Beach Kat’s work is never done. Haha!

Off to swim in a bit. Hope all y’all are having a great start to your weekend. I don't have the links handy (I'm on my phone) but GreyMatter (The Loophole) and Stupalm (The Pump) both have new stories very worthy of checking out. Both are fun, sexy, quick reads. 😉

My writing has been all over the place lately. I have about half a dozen things started, and I'm finding that continuing to rotate through the stories as I work on them is actually a decent strategy, as I'm making some progress.

The electricians finished the outdoor lighting by the pool and under the building where owners/full-time residents park. Little by little, things are returning to normal, only better.

I'm gonna grab a cuppycake and a Coke Zero and head over to my usual spot and try to write some more!

Quote by JamesLlewellyn

And I thought I'd just offer Kat and Kimmi a view of some hard wood today…

YUM. I'm pretty sure there's enough wood for Kimmi and me to share. 👅👅

Thanks for having both cuppycakes and Coke Zero, Bear. I'm picky about how I spend my calories. (Like the customer who used to come into the ice cream parlor and order a banana split ans a Tab). Thanks for the lovely compliment as well. 💋

In turn, I can vouch for our Bearkeep’s handsomeness—far sexier than your average polar bear!

Still fighting the good fight with my sinus infection. Trying one more compounded rinse before more invasive measures.

Found a dress for my daughter's wedding. It's champagne colored (on the approved list of colors) but she thinks it looks too light in the pictures. 😳 She agreed to see it in person so I'm going to lug it up to Michigan later this month when we get her for her shower. 🤷‍♀️

Happy Hump Day all y’all.

Morning Rumpies! wave

And Bear, I been outta town, so point that furry paw somewhere else. Kat, maybe, but you didn’t hear that from me. 🤐

(Takes Charlie by the … and leads him back to the storeroom) And you scared Charlie! He’s sensitive.

I was a busy family-friendly writer this weekend. If interested in reading something with no cock in sight. smile

https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/general/shrivelled-grapes

I owned up to the fact that I may or may not have been involved in Storeroom 4 shenanigans, Mr. Furry Paws! 😈

Kimmi, I spit out my tea when I read that your story that has no cock in sight is called "Shrivelled Grapes." 🤣

Fuzzy, I cleaned all the toys I used...can't vouch for others.

Ape's new story is, indeed, a sizzler! My laptop started smokin' when I was modding it this morning. 😉And since he's kindly offered to cover my drinks today, add some vodka to my pink lemonade, bearkeep! I'm back modding and it's thirsty work for this redheaded Tech Moddess. 😉

Pool looks great, Kat!!! 😀 I know you are happy to get things back to normal!

Very happy! When the phase one reno is completed, I will share better pics.

Quote by wxt55uk

That pool does look inviting... and nicely decorated.

I don't know why, but when you mentioned your pool in the past, I never expected it would be literally on the beach, even though I know you are a beach girl (read beach babe😉). 😎

When I tell people I live on the beach, they are often still surprised when they come to visit that I'm actually on the beach. 🏖️☀️🩴

Thanks, Kimmi, for coming up with little contests like these. Being able to tell a story in 75 words is challenging and fun. Congratulations to the winners. 🥰

Quote by Seeker4

That pool area looks lovely. Is that your building's, Kat?

Yes! Thanks. The chairs, tile, and tiki hut are all part of the renovations that I was in charge of overseeing. 🥰😎

Don't nobody do nothin' stupid while I'm gone, see?

Define stupid. Lol.

Thanks to the police, our beach survived the onslaught of teenage shenanigans yesterday. Arrests were made early which kept things fairly calm. But when they set off a firework on the ground, twice, the police came in droves to clear the beach.

Heading to the pool for a swim with the neighbors.

As for storeroom four? I can neither confirm nor deny that I may or may not have been involved in some fireworks. 😘🎆🎇😈
