oh my goodness that must’ve been a Freudian slip.
Did I just type that out loud?
Shit. I'm a dead man now.😳
Dude...

Eleven days till my baby gets married! I can't believe it's almost here. I just need to select jewelry for the rehearsal dinner and pick up my dress for the wedding from the dry cleaners. I had them professionally steam my dress.
Before all the wedding festivities next week, we are heading up to Michigan midweek to help with grandkids and celebrate the grandsons' birthdays.
My sinus surgery is later in October. The doc will be removing the lining of my right sinus cavity to (hopefully) remove all of the infected tissue. Hopefully, a healthy, non-infected new lining will grow in its place. I just want all this to be over. Fingers crossed.
Some tea with lemon this morning. I'm researching for a new story.😎

Learning from Sprite... 😊😈
Has anyone mentioned that "Prolific Writer" actually sounds way cooler than "Omnium Badge" holder? 🤣🤣🤣
I was kinda bummed when I realized that the Omnium Badge replaced the PW badge. It's a cool title.
Sprite is always right, btw!

Perhaps if they won't do silver and gold, maybe a number beside it, like they do with comp winners or runners up. It could even be done manually as the number of people doing a double omnium will always be small.. currently no one has 2 stories in every category
I'm currently working on that. Just felt like a fun challenge. I've got a ways to go, though.
Peeking in for some tea and a nibble. I slept poorly, as I have all week. But the noisy vacation renters above me are currently packing to go home and my traveling hubby comes home today! In the meantime some caffeine should help this bit of a nagging headache that is brewing.
Yay for Polar Bears!
A year ago tonight, the storm surge from Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on my beach, destroying most of the property grounds of the condo where I live. In the 31 years I have owned my condo, there has never been a hurricane as destructive as this one. A while ago, I promised Kimmie and Bear that I would share photos. I thought I'd share what it looked like in the aftermath, and what it looks like a year later, after so much time, money, and effort have gone into rebuilding. It's not done yet. But the contractors have been working hard, and it looks like Santa might bring me a new garage for Christmas!

The popularity of this site and its success has resulted in this volume. When I first started I submitted at least one story a week. I have deliberately cut down on what I submit. I also am aware that my story will take time to be published
“Patience is a virtue
Search it if you can.
You will find it in a woman
But seldom in a man”.
Not my words honestly! But something we should master and stop haranguing the Moderators.
Milik and I have been friends for a while now. I took his words as a compliment. And I don't at all feel harangued!
But I do appreciate you and other authors who have backed off a bit while we have needed your understanding and grace to get caught up. It truly does help!

That is a good point and I'm probably one of the offenders. It's a tough choice. As I have more time than I ever have to write, I'm creating at a pace I never managed before.
So, what to do? The chances of submissions dropping is unlikely. One thing that has helped me is the ease such programs as the basic free version of Grammarly allows me to edit my dyslexia n a way I never could before. Before I left, I sent every work to Jwren to edit and that took a week by itself.
The result was I was lucky to write more than one a month and had dozens in an unfinished state.
When I returned I had 121 stories published in 10 years of writing. I've produced 15 since I've returned and have another ready to go after my current gets passed
Perhaps I need to follow up on a plan I've long considered and transition to Amazon with a portion of my stories.
I love writing too much to stop, but I also completely understand your point of overloading the team and the front page.
You make a profound point.
Oh goodness, I don't think I've ever been accused of being profound before, LOL.
I've been guilty of being too prolific with my submissions here in the past. Funny how the longer I am a story mod, the more time I try to wait between submissions. I keep writing stories, but these days, I hold onto them longer, which will work in my favor for times when I don't have time to write. LOL! (Remember when I was releasing episodes of The Office Whore every other day? I think I've only submitted four stories this month.)
One thing I do and have suggested to authors who have an archive of stories is to share links to older stories on their profile page. It helps satisfy those readers who want more from you and who may have missed older works, but it doesn't put any added weight on story mods' shoulders.
Whatever you do, don't stop writing. It's lovely to have you back here!

The single most striking thing Ive noticed since my return is the massive increase in stories submitted to the site.
When I was modding, a heavy Que might have 30-50 stories and THAT was considered an emergency.
But I've been watching the front page over the last week, and there may be as many as 500 new stories processed and released by the team. They just keep coming in waves.
Just in the last hour or so there were probably 10 or more moved out, and I have a feeling even then, they come in faster than its possible to process them.
Hats off to you guys. That is a hell of a job you all are doing
Thanks for the pat on the back. I modded a Baker's Dozen over the past several hours and feel like I barely made a dent. However, I want to express my appreciation to the authors who have voluntarily reduced the frequency of their admissions. It does help us, AND it helps readers have time to enjoy stories from their favorite authors.
You stand in the front, just a shaking your ass...

Great guy. He was everywhere, even outside of here, and always helping connect writers to publications. The entire online writing community mourned him. May we all make an impression on the world like that.
Cheers to him
I loved how fun he was. Fond memories...
Something I want to share with people is that I used to think story parts needed to be published right away for readers to continue enjoying a series. However, as I've grown wiser (hopefully), I've come to understand a few things:
1. If people are really interested in your story, they will read the next part whenever it is published.
2. Publishing parts too close together can actually be detrimental, as it doesn't give your readers time to catch up. You are likely not the only author they follow, and if you bombard them with too many stories back-to-back, they may become overwhelmed.
3. If people really like to binge stories, they will wait until a few "episodes" are published and read them in one sitting.
It's hard to be patient when you want your story to be published. However, it won't deter members from reading your story once it becomes available. I promise!
Bear, I'm glad you had a lovely time with your brother and family in Ann Arbor. I was minutes away from you in Plymouth enjoying time with my sister. I waved. 😉👋
Our neighbor with Alzheimer's has been in a memory care facility for almost 2 weeks now. It's been a rough adjustment for everyone, but I'm hopeful that things will smooth out soon. It's a nice place, but as Dorothy once said, “There’s no place like home.” Still, we all know that home is no longer a viable option for him. We are doing our best to support his wife the best we can. She’s like a sister to us (she calls Kevin her brother from another mother) and we know she needs some extra tlc. We took her out for pizza last night. I got my gluten-free pepperoni and the two of them ordered a large “garbage” pizza. Lol. Way too many toppings for my simple tastes.
I'm off to the gym, then a swim with her when I come home. Then I hope to work on some stories this afternoon. Although I need to check on some wedding stuff. My girl gets married in 16 days. (and this MOB would like to lose 3 more pounds lol)
Happy hump day all y'all!
