Swimming can be great as it has no impact on the joints. Get a kick board and if you do nothing more than hold on and kick, it is something and should help strengthen your legs. You can alter your kicks to frog like ones or straight leg, or both legs together. If you are up to it a few easy laps of swimming, even if just dog paddle will help.

I have yet to try yoga, but have been thinking about it. Being the only man in a yoga class can have it's perks as well, right Kitares!!!!

I do need to get into better shape of round. I know from what I have read and seen that there are different levels and most instructors, if good ones, will take your physical ability into account. But any movement like getting up and sitting back down (I sometimes do this at work when I have been sitting too long), the stairs in the house, up and down one or two a few times.

Good luck and from the sounds of it, I never want to experience shin splints!!!

Swimming is something I have to work back up to. I am that bad out of shape. Believe me, this is the first time I have had them, I always laughed off when others said they had them, but they hurt like few things I have had, and I have had 11 orthopedic operations. The good thing is that getting off your feet will make the pain go away. At least for me it did.

I was going to wade in with yoga too. I spent a year on my arse due to illness. The intention was always good but hey...
When I got back to work I found an over 50s group and I really look forward to my Friday afternoons now. Some sessions are harder than others, but the instructor always reminds us to only do as much as our body allows.

Another thing I was going to suggest was stuff around the house, tinned foods for weights. Use the bottom stair as a stepping machine and slowly increase the number of repeats, eventually increasing to 2 steps then maybe 3.

You can also be pedal machines that are little more than the size of the 2 pedals and can easily fit under a coffee table. In the UK they can be bought for as little as £15.00.

Maybe sell the small expenditure to your wife as getting you able to help around the house better.

ETA - Just remembered another silly little exercise that could work wonders getting you going again. Standing up from the sofa and sitting down again (not just dropping), again increase the repeats as you can.

Some of this is great advice. I did not know they had Yoga classes for over 50. Some of the other stuff is prime also. I thank you, as well as the others, for taking the time to give me some options.

Make sure you get adequate calcium and vitamin D, but honestly what's helped me is keeping the core and lower body strong. Try some yoga, if no weights are allowed in your home.

Thank you. I have given thought to Yoga. What has stopped me is my complete lack of fitness and flexibility. My treatment for the type of cancer I had was quite destructive, as well as making me ill, so laying in a bed for basically 2 years has placed me at a level that I have not been since I was in a crib. Do Yoga classes start this basic?

I don't exercise because I like to stay in shape. Round is a shape. Besides, I get plenty of exercise as a part-time plumber, I do recommend cycling as much less stressful, more effective exercise than walking. I used to cycle almost everywhere when I lived in a city. You might do well with an exercise bike, you won't have to worry about getting back if it gets too much for you.

When I say get in shape, I mean being to walk up the stairs of my home, not get buffed. I am way past that. My level of fitness is way lower than just sitting around and getting some extra weight. The cancer and treatment caused me to lose about 75 pounds, a lot of muscle, and continuing affects of both. 5 knees surgeries make biking rough, but the real hold back is that my wife will not allow me to bring in any exercise equipment. LOL I am not dumb enough to go against her. Thank you very much for your response.

I'd switch exercise regimes. Walking is great but you'll get a much better effect from numerous other exercises. Try cycling or swimming for something that's easier on the body. I'd also suggest light weight work or those giant rubber band things. Just ease back into it and take your time.
If you really want to walk get fitted for good quality shoes, it may help.
I pretty much wore out my knees running and switched to cycling. MUCH easier on the body, unless you hammer it. (You'll want to)

Thanks for the response. I am totally unable to do those things at this time. I get out of breath just thinking about walking so it was hard enough. I was just starting with walking and was going to build from there once I had some level of fitness back. I have the bands but they do not build my wind back up. Sadly I have had to stop the walking for now as I am unable to take the high temps we have had for weeks. I hope to get back to it when cooler weather comes in, if it ever does. I did buy me some new shoes, designed for walking, but the splints took me out before I could use them much. I thought the pain I was feeling was from the shoes. Thanks again for the response.

What happens when two doms want to fuck each other? How do they decide who wins the title?

LOL the entertainment value, of them deciding, would be worth the price of a ticket.
I loved them both and wish they were still here. My dad died of cancer at 50. I got it at 57, so I thought a lot about what he went through. My dad was a hard man and today he would probably be considered an abuser. I think he was trying to make us better people, in the only way he knew how, and that was the way he was raised. My mother also died of cancer coming up on 5 years ago. She too was much in my thoughts during my battle. She was a tiny thing. I have leg hair as big as she was. but she had no fear. She would protect us like a mama grizzly. Like most all teenagers and young adults I thought I had all the answers. With the benefit of age and reflection I can realize the work and sacrifice my parents went through for myself and my siblings. Yes I would like some things changed, but I also know I was loved, and they did their best for all 3 of us.

That will only encourage me.

LOL. Ok but just for your sake, remember, pigs squeal loudly.
SIGH! The fastest time of year is college football season. You wait 8 months for it to get here and it is 30% gone in the blink of an eye. Can't we invent something that slows the passage of time? It would come in handy in several aspects of life.

I’m sorry, I dont like football..

You can be forgiven. I don't know how, but people get forgiven for everything else. LOL

I looked and was surprised to discover that among the 20 or so sports channels that seem to be necessary as part of our cable service are ones that show American College Football. Who knew there was an audience for this in Australia?

Talking of football and at the risk of confusing you all, it is the first of two 'Superbowl' days in Australia today. Which one is the real Australian 'Superbowl' depends mostly on where you live. To make sense (well a little sense) of this there are four football codes played by the young all the way to men's and women's professional leagues in Australia, which is remarkable in and of itself given the relatively small size of the population.

Soccer is one obviously, as is rugby union where all the focus is on the World Cup taking place in Japan at the moment.

The other two are Rugby League (RL - Grand Final next week) and the more unusual Australian Rules football (AFL) which is played nowhere else other than Australia (only Gaelic football comes close and that is a different game, though Australia and Ireland do play a hybrid international every year.) Now whether you follow AFL or RL has historically been geographical driven, with AFL originating in Melbourne and being the preferred in Adelaide and Perth too. In Australia RL on the other hand originated in Sydney and is also preferred in Brisbane.

So today sees the AFL Grand Final being contested by Richmond (from Melbourne) and an upstart Sydney team (Greater Western Sydney.) Who will win? Who cares, after all I am a Sydney girl. For the record I should point out this is the men's Grand Final; in the Woman's professional AFL Grand Final Adelaide defeated Carlton earlier in the year.

Have a great weekend everyone, it is warm and gorgeous in Sydney this Saturday morning and I am heading outside.

When ESPN started they were looking for anything for content and they televised a lot of Australian Rules Football. I loved it and watch it all the time, and now I miss it. You have a great and safe weekend too.

Call Nicki now on 5 ...

Is that enough to retire on these days?

Depends on your age. It is not as much as it was when I was younger. Besides, I have already donated $20. You don't have that much farther to go.
Quote by scottob1234
( shrugs ) Fuck it.. I'm game..

You do realize that doing this to game is illegal in most states?

I love it when spammers get roasted.

Also if she's that desperate for cash, maybe she deserves her 5 minutes before this thread and account get nuked.

Aww leave it up. She has to pay her writers somehow and the entertainment value can't be devalued.
Like Fuzzy said, some great college football this weekend, though all college football is great compared to no college football. Don't forget the games tonight. They actually have some good ones for a Friday night.

Good Morning Ms. Curvy.

Seeing the post and review of Jollibee's brought a smile and a warm memory of Shakoy Twists.....
Served warm with cups of Vietnamese coffee

Well it is finally TGIF whew what a week in our (USA) news

Looking forward to some quality College Football this coming Saturday

Hope everyone enjoys their twists I bought 45 so everyone can enjoy.

Possible back in a wee bit to play a few tunes unless someone throws tiny umbrellas at me.....

Bill.... check your top draw and follow the line of ants for your own Shakoy twist (shhhhhh)

Hey Fuzzy, I don't know if you know this or not, but Community Coffee supplies Café Du Monde with their coffee. If you are a fan you can order it online cheaper than you can buy it at a grocery store. Get the New Orleans blend. I used to order it 9 packs at a time when I could drink coffee. It was the only kind I drank.

I was 16 years old. The first plane struck the North Tower at 10.46 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Our regular viewing was interrupted for a newsflash about the “accident” where a plane had crashed into the North tower. I remember my whole family were in the living room watching it all unfold and becoming more horrified as more information became available. We were watching the footage of the second plane hit the south tower and it dawned on me that it was no accident and I thought WW3 had begun. When the first tower collapsed I started to cry because I knew there were still so many people in there. Then I heard about Flight 93 crashing in Shanksville, and how the brave passengers brought the plane down in a remote area. I have a huge fear of flying and I can’t imagine being brave enough to do something like that, and kept thinking about how terrified they all must have been.

I had regular nightmares for two years where I would be looking out of a high rise window and seeing a huge jet about to hit me. I’ve started to cry again just remembering it all. The fact I was in a different country didn’t matter to me or probably most of the rest of the world. Anyone who watched it unfold couldn’t help but be emotionally affected by it. We must NEVER forget.

Oh man, that’s a hellava bad day.

You seem to be a very nice empathetic person. I enjoy your post here. Don't ever forget.

Count me in on team aversion to corriander!

What hastened my dislike was this beer, ubiqitous here in Colorado, brewed with...ew...wait for it...corriander.

Undrinkable.

I am with you 100%.
When I could enjoy food, it was one of those herbs/spices that I liked, but a little went a long way. It was such a strong flavor to me that I may buy a bunch for a dish I was cooking, but unless I was using it in a dish I was catering and needed a lot, it would wind up spoiling in my fridge before I could use it all.

LOL!!!!
It used to be all of them. Now it would probably take half the fire department to help me up of I tried some of them now. The benefits of youth, how little we appreciated it at the time.
I love both, of course, but I really loved to give. Sadly I am now unable to give my wife this pleasure very well, and I miss it terribly.
