How do I begin to thank you?
Maybe I could try to count the times
that you reached out your hand
when taking a step forward was heavy
and when the roads seemed so slippery.
I’ve tried, but I lost count --
especially when you said
I am worth every wait,
every sleepless night,
and every silent plight
from your pillows
to my dreams,
escaping our realities.
How do I say I feel you?
You surely know this --
That you and I can finish
each other’s sentences --
and decipher the pauses in between.
That calls more weight,
even if you remain faceless
to me right now.
I wonder why it doesn’t matter
to me at all.
Maybe because
I feel your fingers trailing my hair,
how soft your sighs are
as you moan
my name on the phone.
I feel your breathing when
I imagine your face nestled
on my neck,
your delicious tongue
caressing my breasts
devouring the swell within my velvet folds.
It gives me shivers to think
how your blue eyes
drink the sorrows that I hide
and drown them in your kisses -
passionate, abandoned and raw.
I don’t have the right words
to say how grateful I am --
for the dance that we have
in your car in the morning,
for the snuggles and giggles
that we share at lunchtime,
for that gift that you put
in my mouth down my throat
when we don’t know
the answers to our
questions about us.
And yes, I will nibble
every inch of that gift
until my pulse and your pulse
become one and in sync,
until currents of warmth and desire
flow uncontrollably within our veins,
pumping blood that makes
our heads throb,
our breathing ragged,
drumming your heart
with my own heartbeat,
‘til we both reach the stars
in one orbit.
