I woke to find your apparition standing beside my bed, the nearly transparent hand already brushing the sheet. I looked into your face and saw the smile; the look.
I knew you were not really there;
Only my desire to see you once more.
That ship had long ago sailed; leaving me alone on the shore.
Your ghost climbed up beside me.
You turned your back and we spooned. Our favorite thing.
Your skin, cool against the heat of my body. My arms enfolded you.
For a moment, I was allowed to touch you, to stroke your skin.
Heaven or hell? I know not.
You turned, kissed my lips gently.
A sad, good-bye kiss.
Another moment and you were gone and I was alone. Left in tears like always. Good-bye again.
