No words she has spoken,
Holding to her last hope to be woken.
No sight, wrapped by blindfold,
What the future will have to behold.
She hears a sound by the door,
Another man to treat her like his whore.
One scream, a sharp blade through the wood,
She thought this was her end for good.
She hears a voice so full of pride,
She tries to find a corner to hide.
The door creaks open,
Not a word has been spoken.
Footsteps move across the floor,
She is no longer alone anymore.
A hand touches her along her spine,
Somehow, she feels absolutely fine.
Heavy breathing behind her ear,
Then his calm, deep voice is what she hears:
“Forget about the past,
That’s gone at last.
Forget about the pain,
Trust yourself again.
You’re coming with me to stay,
Everything is going to be okay.”
The comfort she feels,
Could this be real?
A saviour has come at last,
To rid her of the dreadful past.
“I won’t go anywhere,
Don’t despair.
You're in my arms right now,
I will hold on to you tight; I vow.
With everything I have to give,
I will give it as long as I live.”
His voice, she has heard it before,
Sounds so true and pure.
He scoops her up in his arms with ease,
Gripping her close and gently under her knees.
She buries her head in his chest,
Thank goodness, she feels she can rest.
On horseback they go,
Her new destination, she doesn’t know.
The warm breeze on the wind flowing through her hair,
Slowly she calms, and that is rare.
Twigs snap as they travel the ground,
A new comfort she has found.
“I will remove the blindfold so you can see,
That you have always known me.
I would have done it sooner; you didn’t need to know,
The carnage I left behind was the last thing I wanted to show.”

Her eyes adjusted to the light,
She could now see him in her sight.
He stood across the room as strong as a tree,
She thought, He came all that way for me.
Their past has been intertwined for years,
With that, she lost all her fears.
“I will not be without you—if you want me by your side,
I will stand with you and take life in its stride.
I will watch over you when you sleep,
I will love you forever, and my heart is yours to keep.”
He moves over to the bed,
And cradles her head.
She looks deep into his ice-blue eyes,
Just knows well enough his words aren’t lies.
She looks at him and fights back all the tears,
She opens her lips, and this is what he hears:
“I longed for you every day,
And prayed that you would come my way.
Now the time has come to pass,
I’m glad you found me at last.
I’ve been through hell and never thought I’d be free,
I’m pleased you are sitting with me.”
She can feel her strong soul,
Rising from the dirt and feeling whole.
Pulling her deeper in,
Abiding in the lustful sin,
He smiles the most handsome grin.
“I will have you, as you long for me,
With my soul I give myself to thee.
We will be together until the end of time,
I shall be yours as you shall be mine.”
They live out their days and travel many ways,
Hand in hand they always stayed.
Their love for each other filled their happiness,
Finally, the rest of their lives were full of marital memories and endless bliss.
