Light passing heavens curtains
The moment’s presence a cloud’s journey
This grassy land, a vast ocean
Never left, a breeze to stay.

A marble slab, the mountain top
A cosy edge, a danger flop
A heart’s fear, safety known
A courage never blown.

The cliff’s edge, the hand holds
Clarity fades, flesh reveal
Cloud cover still will bold
Not caring what shadows steal.

Shallow prints in the shore
Hoping still what’s in the end
Lines drawn still in the core
Deep prints around the bend

You were the sky and sea
What’s left, what could this be?
That cliff edge is all that’s left
Rest stolen to shadow’s theft.

Abrasive yet won’t give
Soon gone to those bastard thieves
Still clinging autumn’s leaves
Soon taken autumn’s breeze.

Yesterday’s sun still burns
Telling me what heaven thinks
On this high plane what I learn
One boulder on the brink.

A thousand butterflies with which walk
A bloodied hand, an aching arm
A leave still on that stalk
All until that last shadow come.
