Tentative smiles on meeting joy,
Gentle brushes with nervous fingers;
We two here are lost in this world
Of each other's breath and dawning gladness.

Shy gazing into depths of longing,
Need greeting
Passion greeting
Multitudinous delights.
Here two longing lovers share a realm
Of diamond-dusted sunrise clouds,
And lie together on the cliff above the maelstrom.

Shoulders backed onto shoulders,
Arms wrapped around arms,
Up here, we nuzzle and nestle so softly
As the roiling crescendos try to push us from this vantage.
Fighting waves of fear and trepidation
Salt-spray bitter, slobbering roars
That fail to reach our feet,
Up here,
Where we lie so fervently
Together.

But we two, above the storming tempest,
The left-behind weights of our past unchained,
Are left to bind and meld together
In this eyrie of soft, unassuming splendour.

Grasping passion guides hands on flesh,
Feathering love guides intimate desires;
Here, we two, in firm suspension
Above the rolling deeps of fear,
Share that last vestige we have left,
And exchange the single, gleaming treasures
We both hold within.

I wish for throbbing, stirring coupling,
Skin on skin and sliding sweat;
I wish for softness, gentle cherishing,
Lips on lips and the mystery dreams
I hope I read within your soul.

I wish for silence from the world
To hear your heart a-hammering
As you reach for me, and yearn for what
I would freely give with all my heart.

And as the ugly tempest thunders
Against the rock of this precarious cliff,
I wish that we were joined so deeply,
Hand in hand
And hip to hip,
And smile to smile,
And love to love.

The seas roll back
Under the force of our confidence,
And the thunders ebb away from our day;
There is no place for screaming distractions
In the arms of lovers,
We two, where we lie.

We two, amidst the world resounding,
Destroy the fears and barrier griefs,
As we, in happy agony and
Joy of being
One,
Find peace within each other's arms.
