I stand in the shadows nightly,

Waiting for the light,

Not to shine on me but you,

But to open my eyes to you.

I stand and wait for you,

Wait so patiently each night,

Wondering will you appear,

And hoping the light shines bright.

I stand nervously as I always do,

Waiting your arrival,

Hoping to go unnoticed in the darkness,

But hoping you will see me one day.

The shadow has darkened,

The light now comes on,

It shines bright in your bedroom,

And I see you again as if for the first time.

I stand and watch,

As you slowly undress,

Nothing is different it never is,

But, each night it seems so new.

This night the shadow has changed,

You stare into the dark abyss,

But the darkness has brightened,

And you can see me now.

I stand there staring intently,

Knowing you can see me now,

Hoping for you to speak,

But knowing I could not hear you.

Your clothing is off, and you stand there,

You slowy wave a kiss to me,

Hoping maybe I will come to you,

Not knowing if I will run.

I walk to your door and ring the bell,

You open the door and stand there,

Finally, you ask, “What took so long?”,

My only answer is a kiss as I close the door.

I stood once in the shadows,

Wanting to be unseen,

But hoping one day if I was,

I would spend my life with you.
