Has it been so fleeting, this time together?
It seemed like only yesterday
when you weren't a part of my life.
Laughter, tears, concerns and triumphs
were our new normal, so many good times
spent together. Stolen moments they were,
pieced together by our love and our needs,
our mutual want of someone to be there.
We found each other when we had no one
to turn to, no one who could understand,
no one who could hold our hands.
You held mine, and I yours as we
managed the rocky harbor and the dark clouds
and together we found serenity.
Time is our enemy, our foe who
seeks to pull us apart.
Time will win, it always does,
but I want to slow the clock,
delay the sand from running out
and live the perfect moment.
Hold my hand one more time, my friend.
Hold it tightly and guide me
to the safe harbor, for I don't want
this time to end.
