There's a road that's been winding all
the days of our lives

In the starlight and sunlight
that has shined from above
lifting both of us up where we see what has been

So we're blinking and winking with love's glimpses renewed
it was you at some times
at some times it was me

We kept winding around
past those roundabout routes
as we traveled strange trails,
taking lefts and then rights
 
On and on we have stumbled
just we two

with a glance of vast yearning 
with a gaze wondrous deep

Smiles were brilliant with hoping
Quiet tears on some days

At those times we were fearful 
then we found a new way
with beginnings
and endings
kept our arms all entwined

And so quickly or slowly
it has mattered for naught
for we knew it was coming
when we traveled the road

On the road that kept winding
on its way towards ourselves

Just how soon we may gather
when our byways will cross
just how close we might be
when we finally succeed

with grand hugs of delight
