The party was in full swing. His eyes scanned the room.  He approached a girl in the corner.

No preamble. Straight out with it.

 “Well, how about it then?”

 She looked him up and down, rolled her eyes in disgust, and walked away.

 Hmmm. Next quarry.

 “Well, how about it then?”

 Without even a look, she turned, ignoring him, and engaged with the group next to her.

 He caught the eye of another across the room, unsteady on her feet.

 “Well, how about it then?”

 She looked him squarely in the face, pausing for a brief moment, contemplating.

 “Okay!”
