Movie called the Best of Enemies. Based on a true story. Really enjoyed
Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood.

Honestly, I think some of the reviewers who complained about this movie, especially this one chick, just didn’t get it. She wanted Quinton T. to better explain the murders. Said she was disappointed. Lady!!! Read the fucking title of the movie. What starts with “Once Upon a time...”? Fairytales. QT revised history. It was brilliant. I loved this movie. Leonardo is an amazing actor. The scenes with the little girl - priceless. This is how he/we wished things happened. Even with a much maligned breed of a dog.

Us

Huge disappointment, but my gut told me that. I delayed and delayed, and then finally watched it. Too contrived. If no one didn’t see the ending coming, they weren’t watching. Hell, you could have skipped 3/4 of the movie and still saw it coming. Too ambitious. Too contrived. Too bad.

First Man

Meh. I learned a few things but it won’t stay with me. Almost seemed like a waste of a resources.

Fuck it. I think I’ll go see Dora next. Expectations are low. I think I’ll yell at the screen, like I’m at Rocky Horror. “Backpack! Backpack!”
Captain Marvel. Terrific superhero film with some wonderful performances. And a cat in a key role (actually, Goose was actually played by several cats plus some CGI but whatever).

“Boring” is a given.

Dora is actually quite good. and what is funny about screaming 'slut' at a young girl? in a theater full of young girls? you think that's okay to do?

Oh, you know I jest. Sheesh.

Clearly, I hit a nerve. Was it difficult for you to be amongst girls a quarter your age?

Were you inappropriately laughing alone at non-innuendos because you thought there existed double entendres?

Did mother’s move their daughters over several seats because you attended in a latex body suit and smelled of sex and pot?

Be nice to me. I’ve got more. Fair warning.

I do want to see the movie. I hope for the best. I was disappointed that the Emma Roberts/Nancy Drew thing didn’t become a series, because that was a good movie.

why would it be difficult? you know i have a life outside of lush, right? the only nerve it hit is sexually objectifying girls and thinking it's funny. i'm perfectly fine with being called a slut here, in the right context. difference is, i'm not a 16yo teenager. *shrugs* bring it. i think you know i can take whatever you dish out.

btw, Dora skews more towards tweens and young teens, but younger kids will enjoy it as well (tho there are a couple of scary bits) and has some very positive messages. accompanying adults will enjoy it too. good family movie. worth watching. smile

Sigh. You’ve clearly read into this more than what was done or intended. Calvin. Cartoon. Dora. Cartoon. Stewie. Cartoon. Stewie says whore and slut all the time. Ping. Real guy. Never uses whore, slut, or bitch in real life. Nor does Ping objectify in the manner that you’ve accused. Nor would he say or do said thing to the young actress that plays Dora in the movie. Jane. Not a slut. Rocky Horror fans yell slut. If you had an issue, you should have PM’d me. We could have privately chatted, and I would have easily modified my attempt at a humorous comment because you were uncomfortable with it. All you had to do was ask. But you went nuclear and public. I don’t like to be bullied, yes, this is bullying, so I’ve had to publicly defend myself. Sigh.

1) i'm not bullying you. i'm stating an opinion. pretty sure there's a huge difference.

2) Family guy is geared towards adults and stewie is not an adult calling girls sluts and whores.

3) yeah, i got that it was in jest. lots of things guys call women is in jest. they think it's kinda funny. sometimes it is. when someone like Lyfbuz calls me a slut, it's funny. i know Lyfbuz. i'm an adult. we have developed a relationship with me to the point that he knows that it's acceptable in certain contexts and i have tacitly given him permission to do so. when Rocky Horror fans hell slut, it's part of the schtick of the movie. people get it. when you suggested people call Dora a slut, yep, it ticked me off. it's not acceptable.

4) i don't think you're a bad guy. i don't think you'd really ever do that, even if you joke about it. sometimes the jokes not funny, or at least not to 51% of the population. this is lush. "slut" and "whore" are somewhat acceptable, depending on the context and we're adults, we can usually deal with it when it's not, even though, at times, it's irritating or annoying or hurtful. that said...

5) women deal with that off site as well. it's never pleasant, and sometimes we just are sort of forced to smile and take it, to shrug it off, to not make waves. when you're talking about impressionable young girls it leaves an invisible mark. guys don't get that because they are rarely subject to that. and, newsflash, when it's used against women or girls, it IS bullying.

6) i didn't "go nuclear". i made a statement. i didn't call you names, i didn't scream at your or threaten you. i simply stated that i thought your remark was in poor taste.

7) you could have just took a moment to think about it, think about how it affects people and simply say 'you know what? yeah, that was kind of a crass statement. i didn't really mean it, and i'm sorry that i said it. it just wasn't cool'. and i would have said 'yeah, i get that, no worries, it happens, it happens and thanks for owning it.' and this would all be moot. sometimes defending yourself should not be the go to action. sometimes just admitting that you shouldn't have said what you did is the way to go.

8)ironically, i do know how this is going to go over. guys are going to read this and here's going to be the unposted thoughts of a lot of them. i just branded myself as a bitchy feminist cunt. i'm not particularly cool with that, but i have learned to live with it. some of the more crass will make jokes about me needing a good fucking, shutting me up by shoving their cock in my mouth, or my ass.

9) i am currently working with teen girls. be surprised at the stuff they put up with from guys, at least i hope you would. i'm not. i was a teen girl at one time too. The character, Dora, is pretty cool. she's smart, clever, funny, brave and a good role model. it would have been nice to have someone comment on any one of those attributes. instead, the first word out of your mouth is, she's a slut. you said it in jest. i'm just letting you know that it's not really as funny as you think it is. also not really cool about you insinuating that i would sit in a family oriented movie wearing latex, smelling of pot, or giggling at double entendres. i do that on lush, sure, and in the privacy of my own home, but in that setting? sorry, doesn't happen, especially when i'm attending the showing with a friend, her 2 daughters and 2 of their friends - all of whom wouldn't have been please by someone shouting out 'Dora's a slut' in jest, or not.

Under no obligation, I've altered my primary comment. It is up to you to do the rest.

It is clear, your judgment is clouded by the need to feel in control of the narrative with your self-righteous indignation. I am disappointed in you. You are not the thought police, or the humour police, but you feel you can reprimand and try to shame and humiliate me in public, and not recognize or acknowledge what you've done. Your position is fallible. ALL you needed to do was send me a PM. A private conversation. We've done it before. I've advised others to modify or delete posts because of how it may or many not be interpreted. That's a show of compassion and respect, something you chose not to afford me.

You chose to be a bully. Yes, a bully, as much as you refuse to admit it. Your passive aggression-turned-to-condescending berating is an attempted intimidation tactic, masked as your so-called opinion. Anyone who holds a position or perceived position of power has a responsibility. You have that responsibility and could have handled this with more tact, but you chose not to, and have failed miserably to uphold that privilege.

You made accusations of labels you 'think' will be attached to you. Not by me. Never. But your assumption that others will do so. Don't project your stuff on me or anyone else. You've said some pretty vile things. Not me. You.

I'm done. I won't comment on this topic thread about this any longer. You can have the last word, because I know you can't refuse it, or admit that maybe, just maybe, you overreacted, and instead of see my perspective, even extending an olive branch, or dare I say, offer an apology with you saying that you could have handled this better, you won't.
Rocketman. Could have been much better

Get over yourself, Ping and look in the mirror. You’re trying to bully her, not the other way around. You could have taken it to PM too but you didn’t. You came back here and did what you’re accusing Sprite of. Grow up.
Anyway the most recent I've seen is
Gods of Egypt
On the plus it's great for them to get some coverage the Greek, Roman and Christian ones hog the limelight.
On the negative, I couldn't picture them as anything but Goa'uld.
Also the story gets away from itself and the acting is 100% B movie.
All in all if you like fantasy, have 2 hours to spare and want to switch off your brain, you could do worse.

Animal house, for the third time in 5 weeks. Lol. That is what happens when you let him pick the movie! Still makes me laugh, no matter how many times I see it

I am watching the movie Godzilla from 2014. Some major stars in it.
The most recent seen, past tense - Parker starring Jason Statham. Typical Statham fare, don't expect an oscar performance but fine to switch the brain off too.

Currently got Mr & Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt playing, it's one of those films that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I think it was Girl on a Train. It is tough to remember that long ago.

Really well done. The adjusted editing pace between the different groups of protagonists???, separating them with quick snippets and flashes of real footage, made a very dense topic easier to follow and understand. But it’s one of those flicks you don’t really know who to cheer for because everyone is a hypocrite. Even the stripper with 5 homes. Really good movie. Sad that it’s so true, especially the ending where the moral of the story was evil wins.

I highly suggest watching it.

Happy Time Murders

After hearing and reading so many bad reviews, I was not going to watch this. But last night, I couldn't sleep and got bored.

Going in with extremely low expectations, and not anticipating any gut jiggling laughs, I actually enjoyed it. The whodunnit actually worked. So did MM and her puppet PI co-star. And not expecting a Muppet movie, but a fusion of humans and puppet things worked. It reminded me of movies like iRobot and Bladerunner where society tries to blend humans and the so-called others, or socks, as they are sometimes referred. I'm glad I didn't see this before the last competition. I may not have written the same story.

I don't know if I can recommend this to anyone, but I found it bizarrely attention-holding, and with scenes like the gif above, tentacle sex at its worst/best???, it was fun to watch the creativity behind the box office flop.
I watched American Beauty again Sunday.
Animas - interesting concept but wasn't as good as i was hoping

Read the script! It's cool to put the face to the words. That dinner table scene still makes me laugh. Such a great movie.

***

Finally saw Toy Story 4. Everything it should be, and was. It felt a little forced at times, but really can't complain.

Blurred Lines. A interesting documentary??? on contemporary art. Well done. Super interesting. Had no idea how auction houses worked. Crooks. Corrupt. Thank goodness I'll never have to worry about it.

***

In approximately 22 hours, the Breaking Bad movie, El Camino, drops on Netflix. I actually have low expectations. Looking forward to seeing a continuation of the story line, but I'm concerned. Tough to match or even top the series. I'll watch it anyway. The trailer is intense. Let's hope the movie is too.
