What else to expect on the Winter Olympics then a hard nipple every now and then. #brrrrr

Meh, a nip slip. I'm sure she'll check her costume thoroughly tonight. They had a great skate and are close enough to make Scott & Tessa work for it so I'm expecting a spectacular end to the free dance tonight. And our other Canadian duos sit at 8 and 9 so probably out of the medals, but we seem to have some potential even after Virtue and Moir retire.

BTW, not sure how well know this is outside Canada, but tonight's free dance marks Virtue and Moir's final performance in competition. After 20 years and a raft of awards, they are calling it a day after Pyeongchang.

The costume issue did affect their skate. Gabby was visibly anxious and trying to readjust the top a few times during the skate, since the halter broke quite early on. They had a mistake on their twizzles and were noticeably off from the way I've seen them skate that program before. Can't blame her - it's a major distraction. Regardless, the judges gave them the best performance marks of the night, and 2 judges had them in first. After their freedance tonight (which is very strong) and knowing ice dance judging as I do, I will be absolutely shocked if Papadakis and Cizeron don't win the gold (and likely a new WR). They would have to have some super visible error, and even then, not sure.

Tessa and Scott will have the coveted last skate of the night, and their Moulin Rouge program is a huge crowd pleaser, especially among Korean fans. If they skate perfect, it will be close, but I would bet on the French. I just want Virtue/Moir to have a fantastic skate and close out a spectacular career on a high note, 'come what may'. I've been a fan of theirs since 2007. Regardless of the medal colour, after tonight they will actually retire as the most decorated figure skaters of all time.

Virtue and Moir were lights out perfection last night. I was really thrilled to see them skate that program so well!

But there was a serious wardrobe malfunction in the short dance for the French team, (currently in second, heading into the freedance). The back of her top snapped early on, and provided much distraction.

Yes, ice dance is definitely the sexiest sport in the Olympics.

I'd score her in first place, just for the nipple blip! \

Now if they can flash a foof that'll definitely be worthy of gold.
Did anyone see that a Russian has been caught doping in the curling. Hardly the most physical of sports. Basically it's a walk while sweeping the floor

A First Class Service Ch.5

A steamy lesbian three way

It was damn rough watching defending halfpipe gold medalist Maddie Bowman eat snow 3 straight runs on her final trick. Hate seeing that.
Mind = blown. The short dance was enough to make the difference for Tessa and Scott!

After Papadakis and Cizeron hit their world record marks for the free, I didn't think it was possible, but the mark differential from last night tipped Virtue and Moir over the edge (by less than a point). Also didn't hurt that they had total audience support and skated last.

This is by far the most satisfying gold medal win for me at this Olympics. Tears shed. What a way to cap off a truly stellar career.

The French team was lyrical and beautiful and they should have the OGM sewn up in 4 years. No other skaters in the pipeline come close to the raw talent needed to overtake them. And being something like 22 or 23 yrs old, they have plenty of time to make their mark.

Loved that the Shibutanis got the bronze. They really have the best twizzles and spins and I'm glad to see it was rewarded.
I feel bad for not watching the Winter Olympics this year as it’s only on also many times per decade but I just haven’t had the time. Plus my cable box hasn’t been cooperating so there’s something to be said about a lack of ability. Fortunately I have been able to catch highlights on social media and that’s better than nothing.

I can’t think of a good tagline so this will have to do. Suggest a better one for me?

Such an exciting ski cross race. So many crashes and injuries, everyone went so hard.

After three Olympics, Brady Leman finally won Gold. I really admire his perseverance. This was a great moment to watch.

He popped for meldonium.

It's a drug that Russian athletes have been taking for years. (The same one Maria Sharapova got suspended for.)

It's a drug that has very little, if any, effect on performance and certainly has no effect on curling performance. It's a drug that affects blood flow to the myocardium.

Rules-wise, this is equivalent to taking cold medicine with pseudoephedrine in it, or smoking pot the week before.

Officially these things are are technically "prohibited" but common sense should prevail.

Unfortunately the media doesn't differentiate when they say "doping."

And all athletes know what they can and cannot take. It wasn't cheating, but it was a technical mistake on his part and he's going to pay for it.

This Olympics just gets better all the time. The other Canadians did well, too, with Kevin Drury fourth in the Big Final and Dave Duncan (another athlete from my town) fourth in the small final.

I'm fairly happy with men's hockey right now. If we get past the Germans and the Russians take out the Czechs, we could have a classic Canada-Russia matchup in the final. And a Canada-Czech final could be fun, too, given that they beat us in the round robin so it could be a bit of a grudge match.

As for women's hockey ... get ready America, you'll never know what hit you.

Tonight is the gold medal game for women's hockey between Canada and The USA.

In, my opinion this is the best rivalry in sports. I know it doesn't get the media attention because people don't care about females sports as much, but no other two teams have battled for top spot as consistently in any sport as these two.

After winning the gold in 1998, the US has fallen to Canada in every Olympics since. The US, on the other hand has won 8 of the last 10 world championships.

The IOC has actually considered eliminating women's hockey from the Olympics because the US and Canada are so dominant. But I feel that would stifle women's hockey in all countries. In 1987, Canada beat Switzerland 19-0. Now... it's more like 6-0. In ten years, the playing field will be more equal.

In the meantime, let's relish this rivalry...

It will be hard to top Virtue and Moir's emotional gold medal win... but maybe a shootout victory for gold in Women's hockey would do it?

I honestly don't really care about the men's hockey. Without NHL players, it's just not the same.

I just hope that I can stay awake long enough to actually see the game tonight... Fucking time zones.... Why can't all things just be on American time!?

Hopefully the Koreans wont have to bus people in to fill the stands like they have with other events...

Unfortunately, Korea and China (site of the 2022 Winter Games) are not the best places to be if you want to fill stands for winter sports. I think that may be part of why so many are pushing for Calgary for 2026 even though they haven't decided whether to bid. At least in Canada, you'll have full houses for hockey and figure skating.

They should make Eastern Standard Time universal. That'd suit me. I think I'll fire off a tweet to his majesty president tRump. I bet he can get that done and make the rest of the world pay.

But can women's hockey really compete with mud volleyball?

Calgary? really?

I was hoping for Quebec City, but they pulled out because the bidding process is so expensive.

From an economic POV, it makes sense to have the Olympics in a place that already has the facilities. It costs billions to host the games. And most of the facilities (like bobsled and speedskating tracks) will never be used again.

The Olympics are a bit of a money pit.

Cities used to make money off hosting the Olympics because they could sell the TV rights. The IOC used to take 5% of television revenue. Now it takes 70%. Thus the cities that host it get fucked. And this isn't even taking into account, the bribes and corruption from shitty places like Russia and China.

Most places that can host the games don't want to, and the ones that do don't have the resources to do so. Rio was terrible. Athens was terrible. Because they had to build shit that they will never use again.

Vancouver was magical. If they did it in Calgary again, it would be magical. I've never felt the atmosphere that I felt in Vancouver 2010. It was like you just took Ecstasy and then walked through Epcot center.

Whether you like or hate the Olympic games, I suggest that anyone be in a city during the games. You don't need to go to any events... just be in the city at the time. It's like nothing you've ever felt in your life.

Every time the Olympics come around, I tell myself that I'm not going to watch. And then the games start, I watch an event, and then I'm hooked. Pretty soon, I'm watching as much of it as I can. This year, I really haven't watched much, just a few of the curling events, speed skating and women's hockey. And I wasn't getting into any of it, save for one curling event between the USA and Denmark. Tonight, however, I did watch the hockey game between the USA and Canada. For the most part, I thought both teams were a little sloppy(maybe nerves), but it was still a good game. Both teams competed, seemed to be evenly matched, and the overtime period produced the best action of the night. Good call on the shootout. I thought both goaltenders were great in net and both Canada and the USA in the shootout had some really beautiful goals where they faked the goaltenders out.
USA finally excises their Canadian demons. Wish I could have stayed up for it but I’m getting too old for this Shit.

As for the Olympics and location, it’s long past time that they pick at most 5 places to always play host.

A US location, a Canadian location, Japan (most likely Nagano).. maybe a Swiss location for actual Nordic appeal.

Easiest thing is to just rotate who designs the opening ceremony.

IOC is far too greedy and corrupt for sensible strategy though.

Closest I've come was actually Beijing. We toured the facilities just after the '08 Summer Games ended during one of our regular trips to China. My wife is a Chinese immigrant and most of her family, save a couple cousins, are still there. It was quite interesting actually seeing them after watching all the action on TV. They actually had a nice exhibition of the costumes from the opening ceremony on the field in the Bird's Nest (since it wasn't hosting any events for a while after the games).

I have been very fortunate to get to attend 2 Olympics so far in my life. As a kid at 10, the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. The rowing events were close to the house we lived in. My dad took me to the track & field events at the stadium. I was a huge fan of Michael Johnson in his gold running shoes.

But I was extremely upset when that sicko anti-abortion terrorist did the bombing. I'll never ever forget the picture of the lady that was killed. She'd driven up from south Georgia to enjoy the Olympics and some piece of shit explodes a bomb. To this day I get so upset thinking about that.

My wife and I got to go to the 2012 London summer Olympics. It was especially great that we got to see athletes from our alma mater, *The University of Georgia, competing for the USA. Allison Schmidt and Shannon Vreeland of the UGA Bulldogs swim team were half the USA 4 team 4x200 relay that set a world record winning gold. I'd been able to turn a business trip to London into an extended vacation with my wife and enjoy the Olympics, as well as see some of the English country side.

**************

It was probably the best overall day yet for the USA in the Olympics yesterday. Congrats to the US women for winning gold. I know they have a great rivalry with the Canadian women, who've had their number recently. So I'm sure the US ladies are walking on air today. Evidently, the USA & Canadian women are the class of the show in hockey and routinely put on epic battles.

Also, the US women cross-country ski relay stunned the world by getting their first ever Olympic medal, and it was GOLD!

I did really enjoy watching the US men in the ski half-pipe. That is an impressive comp. Some guys took bad falls. The USA got gold & silver. But I have to say, watching the 16-year-old guy from New Zealand that got bronze was fun. He was so excited, that teenage excitement. Bet he'll be getting better and better, becoming a major contender from here out.

**************

*In the Summer Brazil Olympics there were so many University of Georgia athletes I lost count. And while most represented the USA, several were representing their own nations. There were two UGA female swimmers on the Canadian team. But Bulldog alum, Allison Schmidt, collected even more medals swimming for the USA, including gold again. She's a legend in Athens, GA.

The University of Georgia athletes that competed in Rio de Janeiro...

I do love the Olympics. While Summer is my favorite, I do love the Winter games too. (But consider I live in a subtropical environment).

Congrats to the US women's hockey team.

I'll just try and drown my sorrows by looking at pics of Lindsey Vonn.

And Buz... how dare you bring up Atlanta 1996 and Michael Johnson???

Let's not forget who the fastest man in the world was that year...

The medal count. North America is on the move! Canada moved up to 2nd and the USA moved up to 4th. Let's go and kick some European butt!

You're going down Europe! Sorry, Noll, but we're in the attack now.

North America!!!!

More importantly for Canada, it's now our best games ever. 27 medals after Katelyn Osmond won her bronze in women's figure skating last night, which beats the 26 we won on home turf in 2010. And we did it by continuing to excel in our traditional sports - freestyle ski and snowboard, figure skating, speed skating, which account for most of our medals. OTOH, we kind of stiffed in curling, winning only one medal (mixed doubles gold) and our men's hockey team is hanging by a thread now (lost their semi to Germany so bronze at best).

And Zagitova wins the gold. I'm so sad, I really felt like Medvedeva bested her.

I agree.

Zagitova is very talented with her jumps, but still feels junior'ish to me. And I dislike the rule of the 10% bonus for backloading a program with jumps as well. It really throws the balance, artistry and performance off for me. I think she was a little ahead of her music as well.

Medvedeva is the total package. She should have had gold. It was heartbreaking to see her face after she realized she was second.

I loved seeing Kaetlyn Osmond have a great skate and get bronze. Nice big jumps too. After the short, she seemed cool and confident, and she came to play last night.

Amen. Overall, aside from some weakness in the men's competition, I've been quite happy with our skaters this year. Figure skating has long been an important sport for Canada in the Winter Games and the 2018 team kept up that tradition admirably. I'm a bit nervous about 2022, though. Hopefully, the younger talent has time to build on their performances this year before Beijing.
Even with Canada's disappointing showings in hockey and curling, this has already been a record year.

27 and counting....

It's sad that without a gold in hockey, it still seems like a failure though.....

At least Russia is sucking...

SebToots!

Big Air was one of the most exciting events for me. So sad for Mark McMorris and Max Parrot, but amazing to see SebToots win Olympic Gold!

Also - commentator Craig McMorris is awesome. #holykittens

So wanted to see Mark up there, but hey, go NA! smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I've got the Games on but I am not seeing enough of the USA and Canada kicking European butt. Only 2 days left. We may have to send someone to Korea to give a Knute Rockne style speech and get these North American athletes pumped. We need no mercy, killer instinct, attitudes. Gotta get serious!

I have a question. Why do they make women figure skaters wear those skimpy lingerie outfits while the men are well covered in something sesnsible and regular looking? Seriously, who wears a teddy to go ice skating? To be fair, why not put those guys in a banana hammock and a sheer tank top? I bet Sprite would enjoy seeing that, and Dancing Doll would no doubt, love it!

*********

I've noticed so far, women downhill skiers are mostly blonde and hot! I like it!

*********

I was surprised at what curling is. All these years, I thought it was ice fisherman hoisting really heavy beer cans. After seeing curling, how did THAT ever come about?
In two man bobsled for Beijing 2022.....

Me and Buz

I was a highschool sprinter and a rubgy fullback...

Buz... linebacker??? Not going to cut it. Way to big. Have you played fullback or tail back? What are are you height, weigh and 40 run time? maybe I think we can qualify for the Repblic of Cascadia

And our after parties in the Olympic village will be epic..... You bring the ballgags. I'll bring the Buttplugs.

Thanks dureX....
