Authors, what are your goals in writing here?

I have told him this - and he is touched. I am a very lucky woman, too, even if his creative temperament is like this. One day, I will win and persuade him to write again.

My original goal was to find a site that protected my work and didn't mirror my stories to sites I never intended to publish on.

What I found here on Lush were readers and writers interacting. Actual feedback! I loved that.

Then I read a competition theme that fired my imagination. The competitions are a great muse for me. I suspend all other projects to get those out. My current goal is to place in one.

I created Purdy with a singular goal—to carve out a space away from the noise of the world, away from pressures and expectations, where I could let my imagination soar and enjoy creating a story I’m proud of.

Know whenever you see me publish, I’ve accomplished that goal.

Looking at statistics can mess with my mind, so I don’t do it or have a friends list. As posted on my profile, all are free to reach out to me.

There’s one forum where I keep track of the categories because I’m working toward the Prolific Writer badge, but it’s just for fun. No pressure or timeline to get there. It’s super fun for me to really let my imagination loose and try to create a different type of story in a category.

Lush brings me mental peace.

Seeing my latest development step, Maria's Countdown, up on the site makes me very happy, Not perfect, by any means, but the sense of achievement feeling is one I still enjoy and celebrate. Whatever you're striving to achieve, I know the feeling you get when you do get there and that's true whatever level you're writing at. I can't rid myself of the annoying baggage of brain injury, but striving to be the best I can be? I'll keep that up as long as I can draw breath.

I mean, I would be lying if I didn't pay attention to the numbers going up on my stories and enjoying it haha. But I suppose that isn't particularly the goal. I mostly like coming up with ideas and just writing them. I ended up coming here because I needed a place to post the first story I was working on at the time. Feedback is also always welcome, but not necessarily the goal.

I do enjoy the idea of the competitions, although I haven't participated in them as much as I'd like. I kind of come and go as my motivation to write swings. But I always hope to catch one when I'm around.

I also have to thank the editors for giving tips and reminders when I inevitably submit something that is wrong in some way LOL. I do feel like my writing has improved, especially during my latest flurry of story writing.

A new challenge met with the submission of my longest story to date. Longer pieces present their own challenge for me, in terms of keeping everything on track and making what I hope works uncomplicated enough for me to manage. Pippa's Journey was fun to write and it will always feel special to get to this point for me.

Reading something and knowing you could have written it yourself! In this case, it's regarding those who steer us on the right path when we need it and feedback. The numbers, viewing-wise? I see them, but they're not a factor in what I do, although a couple of words of encouragement is a boost, when they appear, for sure, The moment chaotic thought makes sense for long enough to weave a story around it? As good as any in the process for me.

The Meaning Of Trust is up on the site and the sense of achievement feels the same. A few things different this time in the approach, but that just made the satisfaction of getting it up there feel even more special.

My goal is purely to explore my own sexual fantasies. All my stories are my own sexual fantasies, things I've fantasized about for a long time, or things I want to try or experience. For me this is a way to try and understand myself, and where these desires come from, as well as exploring and discovering any potential new desires or fantasies I might have. And I get a huge kick out of the idea of people reading how depraved my fantasies can be.

Personally, I have the stories so this is an ideal forum to test how they are received by other readers. I take on board all comments to help improve my writing. thanks to those who have made comment. I am hoping for bigger things in 2025

I am too often sitting in a lab waiting and watching as some experiment is proceeding, or overseeing students while they work, or managing my way through my own work and networking. My mind starts to wander, and I close my eyes and relive some of the incredible and fun things I've done - places I've been, guys I've known and blown, the sex I had this morning and/or last night, people I've met and want to get to know better - and a daydream starts and morphs into a short story. If I have my laptop or tablet handy, I open up an encrypted Word doc and start writing. I know I'm on the right track with something when I start feeling horny and "moist"...

To further hone my craft, and get my name out there.

I like to write about what I'm interested in, erotically. If I arouse just one woman with any of my stories that would be very satisfying.

I'm testing the waters of erotica to see if my writing style fits in a niche or not.

Nothing short of world literary erotica domination. Having failed that, I bake bread, make soup, and obey my cat, Miss Pixel. It's a life.

Having turning fifty shortly before I joined, I recognized that the longtime fantasies bouncing around my head weren't going away. Except they would go away - forever - when I die, unless I started publishing them. So my initial motivation was simply to get my sexual vision - bisexuality practiced freely by people who are kind to each other, both in and out of bed - out into the world. An odd legacy perhaps, but it's something.

Once I started doing that, however, I found that I attracted a small following of readers, mostly also middle-aged men, with whom my ideas resonate. And I'll admit that the resultant Likes and positive comments now motivate me too, as have a couple of RRs and top-ten finishes. Not that those happen frequently, but when a competition rolls around, I do put in my best effort.

I needed a creative outlet and writing seemed to be the most accessible and the least expensive compared to other artistic endeavors.

Why erotica specifically? Well, I love storytelling, the complexities of human behavior, and sex. To me, nothing is more revealing and human than sex (masturbation included). I want to explore every corner of sex and behavior to better understand myself and those around me. So, my stories aim not to answer definitively but to explore the possibilities.

TL : DR: I guess my overall goal for writing erotica is, exploration and understanding.

I had written a couple dozen smutty stories as a side project in 2016, when I still imagined I could make a career out of writing. Once they were published, I retired off from the royalities, and-- I kid. Never published them, saved them to a USB stick and forgot about them until I was cleaning out my desk years later. I posted them here, figuring somebody might still get a kick out of them, but I also found they still spoke to me - my fantasies, my aspirations, even my insecurities. I started to expand the story and kept on going.

Now I've got a different problem: I have to leave that story behind and move on to another one!

I read a great deal, mostly fiction. I like well written erotica but found I had to read a lot of dross to find good content. So far though, I’ve really enjoyed reading my own stories. In summary, I write to entertain myself. If others like my stories all the better. Now, if I only had time and energy to write more than one story every few years I could be endlessly entertained. To bad writing is hard work!

This is exactly why I wrote my first story—if I was going to complain so much, I might as well do something about it. Though I've been writing my smutty little stories for years, I took a long hiatus during which I had not a single idea for a new plot. I revived this pen name in hopes that I could free up all the space in my brain dedicated to the dozen or so unfinished stories. Now, oops oops oops I'm migrating some of those stories here while I throw new stuff up on a subscription account. Fully back in the game, baby. Having spent such a long time writing in isolation, it's been good for me to connect with other erotica authors as well as get in the practice of replying to feedback.

To garner 100,000 Lush coins by my story-telling talent. I have 15 so far.

Writing helps me to process whatever's going on in my head - turns out a lot of it is sexy stuff. That seemed like a better option than cheating on my wife who seems to have lost all interest in sex. It gives me a chance to play around in my fantasies and exercise my creative impulses. So, the goal is the process. I don't really care too much about stats, though it's nice to receive positive feedback and know that other people enjoy (even get turned on by) my writing.

The biggest mark of success for me is if I can go back and re-read a piece I wrote a few years ago and still feel pretty good about it. I guess there are a couple of stories that aren't too embarrassingly bad overall in my back-catalog, and most of them contain at least one or two fairly good paragraphs or turns of phrase I feel artistically proud of. At some point I may take a bunch of them down, rewrite them, and try to sell them on Kindle or something. But I'm not looking to make a career out of this, or feel pressured in any way.

Since 2009, when I first joined Lush and started writing, my goals have been the same.

Firstly, to write stories and poems that I can feel proud of, that get across what I want to say, and that truly represent who I am as an author. Secondly, I want people to read my writing, to get something positive out of it, and to react to it positively.

I've been lucky over the years here in that I seem to have made a positive impression on most people, and my writing has generally done the same. For this, I'm truly grateful.

But I'm always caught in a dilemma, too. Do I write stories on tropes, topics, and in genres that don't interest me but that I know are popular, and thereby get more views, likes, and comments? Or do I continue being true to myself and writing stories that are alternative and 'outside the square' and therefore will not attract many views, likes, and comments? If my latest story is anything to go by, then I think I know the answer.

I've always had a lot of fun on Lush, and as long as I'm having fun, I'll stay and keep writing.

No one was writing the story I wanted to read, so I wanted to try out writing myself.
