I just realized I have hundreds of private messages I never deleted. There are some I'd like to keep, but is there a way to delete the ones I don't want all at once? The idea of opening each message and then deleting them one at a time is overwhelming. Thanks.
All you can do is Star those that you wish to retain and leave the system to delete the rest after 2 months.

Thanks John. I’ll star the keepers, but most of the rest are not only months beyond the automatic 2-month delete timeframe but are years beyond that. Why aren’t they being automatically deleted?

As far as I can tell, all my PMs back to 2022, which is close to when I spun up this profile, are there so I don't think the 2 months retention works or has ever worked.

I do not believe either are relevant, sent or received, older than 2 months the system should auto delete.

For me, it partially works. I have some threads with people where I only see messages up to two months old, but I know we messaged only a month or two before that. I have others that go back 2-3 years even though none of the messages are starred.
One thing I’m noticing is that if I have EVER starred at least one message in a discussion with someone, the feature absolutely does work consistently, and beyond two months I only have starred messages.

I’ll have to go back and check all my messages to see if any of them are starred from a specific person.
The development team have today confirmed there is indeed an issue with the retention of mail and it has been added to their bug list.
Guess I'd better go get starring, or I'm going to lose a lot of messages!
