For a couple weeks now I've noticed that the number of unread messages will go up in my inbox but then when I go to read them, nothing new is there. Like just now it went from 409 to 411 but there were no new messages.

I've had "delayed" messages arriving that were sent up to a day or two ago. Keep scrolling down, even beyond the first page, and fingers crossed you'll find them.

there's a filter on bulk messages, so people sending 'read my story, everyone' messages won't get them through straight away. i think it's to do with filtering out actual spam.
just delete your inbox, lol. are you ever going to get round to the 400 odd messages, or are you saving them for a rainy day?

I tracked back like you said KatieElizabeth but I don't think that's the case.
Something does seem off. Probably to do with the updates. Just saying I've never experienced my inbox number going up but not getting the messages before in the years I've been a member.

I was actually going to make the same forum thread today as well. I logged in about an hour or so ago and I had twelve old messages in my box and it showed I had four new messages, but they were dated from nearly a week or more ago. I always check or delete my messages. But, as Echelon said, they were all in fact spams of 'read my story' messages.
